These past few days, Carl focused on recovering fast.
But at the same time, he had been thinking of which cultivation method in his mind to go for. He had plenty of cultivation methods he could still remember.
"..."
Immediately, Carl entered a state of meditation.
He pictured the scroll of a cultivation method written on a leather.
This was one of the rare and interesting cultivation methods he had fortunately came across during his journey .
It originated from a wild-natured tribe that lived in a very dangerous jungle for centuries and would never had fallen to an outsider like him.
But with his powers at the time, stealing a scroll was a piece of cake.
He merely visited the chief hut at the peak of thier night festivity and found the scroll made from boar skin. Opening, the manual was written on top of the image of a vicious-looking boar.
It had large tusks, tough skin, a huge body, and bloody-like eyes.
Sequence, duration, the skills, he could use, Carl pulled everything from his memory. And step by step, he followed the instructions of the method in his memory, and eventually a black-colored steam, almost like a smoke, came out leaking out of his mouth.
Carl was still sitting cross-legged at this time, which was the most comfortable position if he wanted to focus and meditate.
His body started to throb making him slightly groan in pain. Some cracking noises could also be heard in his system akin to the crackling sounds of the ground opening. As if new pathways were opening in the core of the Earth.
His whole body had also gotten warmer.
Beads of sweat started to form all over his body only to evaporate at a later time, and changed with more sweat. Looking at his body, it now looked like he had just came out from a very steamy sauna when the room was supposed to be nowhere cold.
This was the aftereffect of the cultivation method.
It adjusts the rhythm of a cultivator's breathing, the pace of their blood, the order of their muscles and improves their overall physical attributes to match the standards of the method's users that will later allow the user to use method in battle.
It makes as a good cardio-workout too, and like every cultivation method, naturally tempers the Centers of Power of the cultivator. Their physique, mana pool, and mental sphere.
Overall, cultivating day after day would eventually allow a cultivator's body to perform feats that will make them more like an enchanced human.
This was one of the things that the original Carl lacked. A cultivation method.
Most students had gained one from their parents, relatives, and from their connections. But the original Carl had no one to support him. It was not like he could easily buy one too. Cultivation methods were usually kept secret by families. And the cheapest stuffs available in the market usually ranges from 50,000 to 100,000 dollars.
Even if he saved his allowance and eat only twice in a week, he will not even touch one. Once, he was curious and tried touching one of his classmate's cultivation book, but he was treated like a thief.
Carl smiled faintly.
He doesn't have to buy anything that expensive in the market or steal one. He had at least 10 types of rare cultivation techniques memorized in his head.
Thousands of kids would cry in their bed when they know he has many of these in his disposal.
After a short break, he tried to meditate again but alas, he could not proceed any further.
'This is my current limit, huh. It's really...pathetic.' he said, as he felt his mind unwilling to go further.
Short of breath, he lied down in his back on the floor, and wordlessly stared at the ceiling. He wasn't even doing anything hardcore, yet he was already so tired, huffing and puffing his breath.
But his body had definitely improved more than the original Carl did in years.
Carl admitted the original Carl was placed in an unfortunate situation but he also had himself to blame. Even if he cannot cultivate, he could still improve his body through the normal physical body exercises. If he did, it at least proves of his desire to truly change and improve.
The strongest human might never get as strong as the weakest cultivator. But they were not useless. Even normal humans had a mind of their own and arms and legs to train and use. If a human has a weapon, he will never be not dangerous.
The former Carl had a narrow mindset and merely thought of himself as weak when he was in a better situation than regular humans.
Sadly, he only lived in the world of cultivators. Thinking he cannot be as strong as his peers, he neglected training.
"I am no cultivation addict, but I at least do what is needed to protect myself." Carl said.
After a couple of minutes, he lifted himself up and started to do a normal 2 hour workout.
When he was finished, he walked onto the shower and took a bath.
Drying himself, a clear reflection of his body and face appeared in the mirror.
There were no vivid changes in his appearance yet. He had no visible muscles at all, just these wobbly lumps of fat hanging around his bone. But there was no doubt he was now slightly stronger.
"I'm only starting."
Carl showed a faint smile at this, and fixed his hair that had not met the barber in years. He could feel his body aching and his muscles screaming due to the massive stress in his body, a drawback of training for the first time.
'Still, this cultivation method...'
Carl was a little worried so he chose the Bloody Boar Cultivation Method.
'There are other cultivation methods I could use, but this is the crudest.' Carl thought about changing but quickly abandoned it, 'No, since I have this heavy and big body anyway, this is perfect.'
Carl knew that he would face Samuel and his group soon even if it was against his will, and he would have to answer back if he wants to live peacefully.
'It's better I just train my body. If I at least have a superior body, I could close the gap with people using spells with martial arts. The Bloody Boar is originally a martial arts school and it is only suitable for me.'
Carl was somewhat positive-minded with his cultivation technique. It wasn't flashy and aesthetic. But the benefits of it was no joke.
Carl could remember the tribe men overpowering monster type rhinos and elephants with it. They could lift rocks and houses five times bigger than their size.
Carl was delighted.
It wasn't similar but it also helps that a similar but inferior version of the method existed in Earth called Boar Cultivation Technique. Later, Carl doubted this matter would even attract other cultivators' curiosity but it was better if it looked like his cultivation method wasn't that precious.
Both methods are simply power-up types after all. It simply grants the user superhuman strength.
Depending on the size of the user's body, they could have more than the strength of two boars or four boars or five boars!
It is very simple, and not really sexy. Some people even call it the dumb breathing technique.
But Carl's cultivation method was a much greater version of that.
Not only his physical attributes improves better, it gives him passive and active skills.
'Bloody boar.'
This enables him to pump more blood into his body more than usual, giving him more oxygen supply and nutrients, and releasing more power as a result. This gives him a significant boost on strength and speed which was ideal for battle. The only disadvantage was that it was only temporary and burns a lot of his stamina, but was that even a problem?
Also, the skill has more. It temporarily raises the performance of his five senses although also temporary.
Carl thought this was only natural. He just has to cultivate more.
For now, the real problem he has was that he currently doesn't have enough stamina to use it for battle, hence why he was planning to stack up his cardio-training.
'Blood Takeover.'
The second skill allows him to double his physical attributes for a limited period of time. As the name calls it, it actually looks like an insane skill. With each hit he could successfully land into his enemies, the next damage dealt will increase by 10%, capped at 100%. The best part about this skill was that the effect wasn't limited at only one target, but all enemies hit. It was best for crowd control.
But Carl currently could not use it though, as it was only available when his body was at least rank 3.
Lastly, Carl have one more skill.
Weight Displacement - according to the scroll, he could allot some of his body weight to different parts of his body, that then transforms the body part to something similar to a heavy blunt weapon.
Carl let his stream of thoughts flowing for a while, as he started to weigh out his future decisions.
'At the rate of my recovery, I can be discharged today. Where do I go? Do I go straight to the dorm and go to class? There's also the GKS thing.'
Time passed by.
Carl was starting to feel sleepy. He had pushed his current body too hard.
The sky outside the window had already been dyed in the colors of the sunset.
As he closed the curtains, the door then opened, and his doctor entered.
Looking at the doctor's face, Carl felt like he was going to be discharged soon.
