New World Item

Standing in an empty sanctuary, Lucian could see the entire area from the platform he was standing on. His gaze stretched as far as the eye could see, and all that remained were broken statues of beings that had likely once ruled this place.

Lucian's attention was drawn to the rectangular screen at the center of his vision.

[Location - Temple of the Fallen Old One | Type - Ruins]

The shattered and scattered statues of cosmic horror-like entities surrounded him in this cemetery-like sanctuary.

Today, he was alone. Mei Mei had been occupied with grocery shopping and meeting her friend, so Lucian was going solo for now. He enjoyed playing with Mei Mei, but he also enjoyed these solo adventures.

Lucian found himself in this eerie and unsettling place because of a quest. He honestly didn't want to be here, primarily due to the presence of eldritch monsters, or [Nightmares], which had an uncanny ability to make even Lucian feel uneasy. Eldritch monsters weren't challenging in terms of combat; rather, they were unsettling because of their unpredictability and penchant for jump scares. Most of these monsters were around level 70, but their terrifying appearance gave them an advantage over average players who despised them.

Although Lucian was a fan of cosmic horror, he had a distinct dislike for these creatures. One of them had terrified him completely when he was new to the game.

"But I still have to eliminate those 300 [Cultists of the First Old]," Lucian muttered to himself as he surveyed his eerie surroundings. However, he couldn't spot any of these Cultists. Cultists were not traditional monsters but rather NPCs tied to this quest. Many players took on this quest to unlock specific spells that required its completion. The quest's description read as follows:

[Quest]

Kill 300 Cultists of the First Old -

[Description]

The First Old One is attempting to awaken through an unknown artifact, and the Cultists are remnants of this dark ritual. Please visit the [Temple of the Fallen Old One] and eradicate all the Cultists attempting to resurrect the ancient entity.

Rewards:

- 20 Million Gold

- Increased reputation in the town of Gibrigamar

- Unlocks the [Light Devotee] Class

- Unlocks the [Fallen Vanquisher] Class

- Earns the Approval of Sothoth Cheyara Mahuga [Unlocks the Hidden MahaKaal Quest]

Lucian wanted to actually unlock the MahaKaal Quest, which is a prerequisite to unlock the class [Apostle of Shiva] a class that granted immense destructive might and was even more destructive than World Disaster class. This class was actually supposed to be hidden and was put in such way that it will be impossible for a normal player to stumble unless given instructions to, which Lucian was, by suzune.

"Let's kill the Cultists first," Lucian muttered to himself as he jumped into the fray, turning off his [Order Reprieve], and immediately started searching for one of the Cultists.

Soon, he found one Cultist. The Cultist looked humanoid but was covered in a cloak with their face hidden in endless darkness, with black tentacles sprouting out of their cloak.

"What's its level?" Lucian muttered to himself as he looked at the stats of the Cultist.

[Cultists of First Old]

Level - 95

HP - 95/95

MP - 85/85

Lucian was surprised to find that the Cultist was of a very high level, but it posed no threat to him. Lucian immediately brought out a scythe, a weapon he had requested as his World Champion Class weapon.

[Bleeding and Crying]

Type: Weapon

Description: A World Champion Class item created for the player Luci Luci by the developers of Yggdrasil for winning the World Tournament of Helheim.

Skills/Abilities: |Bleed| |Cry| |Mimicry| |Artistry of Blood| |Shroud Fatal Bleed| |Shroud Harmless Cry| |Eternal Bleed| |Permanent Deficiency|

The scythe was a gruesome sight, bloody red and seeming as if it was crafted from blood itself. Its handle stretched from one end to another, while the blade, unlike the usual crescent shape, had an eerie, irregular design with many cuts. At the center of the main, huge blade was a massive eye that blinked every time it was swung. The scythe's other end sported extra sharp blades, enhancing its destructive capabilities.

Lucian, having taken Suzune by his side, had requested this weapon, and she had willingly accepted the task. She not only completed her studies but also added some extra functions to the blade.

"Well, let's start the hunt," Lucian said as he leaped into action and swung his scythe at the Cultist. The Cultist was immediately cut in half, but it wasn't over. Despite the damage inflicted, it wasn't dead yet. Its severed body started merging, with black tentacles appearing to knit the torn parts together.

Lucian didn't give the Cultist a chance to reform, swiftly swinging his scythe once more to cleave it in half, causing it to vanish entirely, turning into data.

"1 gone, 299 more to go," Lucian muttered to himself as he continued his hunt, running and jumping around to find and eliminate all the Cultists.

After clearing the area of Cultists, Lucian stood at the entrance of the temple, which remained closed. He glanced at the two statues resembling Cthulhu-like monsters resting at each end of the massive gate.

"I wonder if they'll attack me if I use magic on them," Lucian pondered, giving in to his curiosity. He decided to use a spell to see what would happen.

"[Rhythm of Pantheon]," Lucian chanted as he targeted the spell towards the statues. A soundwave animation appeared and traveled toward them.

For a moment, nothing happened, and Lucian thought the spell might not work. However, just as he was about to leave to speak with the Chief to complete the quest, he was shocked when a tentacle suddenly attacked him, hurling him against a nearby wall near the temple.

Lucian quickly got to his feet, and as he looked around, he saw two octopus-like creatures resembling Cthulhu with their wriggling black tentacles. Once again, a tentacle snapped towards him, but this time Lucian swung his scythe, cutting the tentacle, and a damage number appeared.

[-0]

"What?!" Lucian exclaimed. He stared at the severed tentacle, only to see it regrowing right before his eyes.

"Looks like physical attacks won't work," Lucian muttered to himself as he returned his scythe to his inventory. He extended his hand towards the monsters, using his magic to inspect their stats.

[Spawn of Cthulhu]

Level - 100

HP - 100/100

MP - 100/100

Lucian was astonished by their stats. These creatures had some of the highest levels he had ever seen for non-boss monsters. Finding a level 100 monster outside of boss battles was exceptionally rare, typically occurring only at the edges of the world. This wasn't the edge of the world, making the situation even more perplexing.

"Wait, perhaps," Lucian thought quickly as he dodged another tentacle attack from the Spawn of Cthulhu. The idea crossed his mind that this might be containing a world enemy, a shocking possibility.

Lucian did something unusual, something he rarely resorted to.

"[Unlock the seal - Password: MeiMei is a masochist]"

[Powers Unlocked]

Instantly, Lucian's stats soared, and his body became incredibly light. In an instant, he vanished from his current location, almost as if he had teleported.

"I'll end you now, [Lunar Shower]," Lucian declared as he cast a Tier 10 spell, one of the most powerful AOE Divine spells.

Immediately, a magic circle appeared in the sky, and a moon seemed to shine in the world as bursts of light rained down upon the two monstrous beings attempting to attack Lucian.

They vanished immediately after being struck by the Lunar Shower.

"Was that all?" Lucian wondered aloud as he examined the drops given by the monsters. They were all high-level drops, and some were even rare items he had never seen before.

"This is fun," Lucian muttered as he made his way towards the gate. As soon as he touched it, a notification appeared before him.

[Would you like to enter the boss room]

Lucian was truly right. He jumped around and celebrated.

"Looks like I've stumbled upon a world enemy!" Lucian exclaimed with joy as he gazed at the gate. Without hesitation, he tapped on "yes."

The gate immediately swung open, revealing a vast hall filled to the brim with various cultist statues. Lucian confidently strode inside and found a colossal black pond at the center of the hallway.

Observing no signs of movement, he decided to touch the inky black liquid filling the pond. That simple action triggered a notification:

[You have awakened the Slumbering Old One]

[You have encountered a «World Enemy»]

Lucian couldn't help but grin from ear to ear upon receiving the notification. One might wonder why a lone player would be pleased to find a world enemy. However, the benefits were substantial. It meant he could potentially sell his information for a hefty price. But was Lucian in dire need of money? Not at all! His wealth was so vast that spending it all could prove troublesome.

"Let's engage this monstrosity now," Lucian declared as he witnessed a massive octopus-like creature emerging from the vast black pond. This abomination was pitch black, covered in numerous tentacles, with a gigantic eye at its center and mouths scattered across its body and limbs. Its sheer size dwarfed nearby buildings, and its tentacles moved with incredible speed, striking the ground and the pond with force.

[Cthulhu]

Level - 200

HP - 1000/1000

MP - 1000/1000

Lucian took a deep breath just as a colossal tentacle tore through time and space, striking him and hurling him toward the closing gate.

[-90]

Lucian was not only shocked but beyond it. He had never imagined encountering an enemy in Yggdrasil that could actually harm him. According to Suzune, his stats were surpassed only by the most powerful Seven Deadly Sins. So, how was it possible that a world enemy had inflicted 90 points of damage, something that no one had achieved before?

"Interesting... This is truly fascinating," Lucian muttered to himself as he swiftly switched his gear. His scythe materialized in one hand, while the other gripped a massive staff. His armor transformed into a resplendent golden suit, the World Champion class armor gifted to him.

"It's time to get really, really, really serious," Lucian muttered as he underwent a transformation, assuming his Valkyrae form - the [Sigrdr] Valkyrae. Instantly, his hair took on a stunning amethyst hue, and his entire physique underwent a change, becoming more feminine and radiantly beautiful, with an otherworldly touch. His aura also shifted to match his newfound divine beauty.

Lucian went all out, activating all of his passive abilities, which he had always kept turned off due to their overwhelming power. He had chosen the [Sigrdr] form because physical attacks were less effective against Elder monster spawns, and he assumed they would be even less effective against the ultimate mother of them all. This was his most powerful magical transformation, and he was ready to face Cthulhu with everything he had.

"It's time for some fun," Lucian muttered as he leaped directly at the monstrous Cthulhu, wielding his scythe in one hand while casting spells with his staff. He anticipated an epic battle, and he couldn't have been more correct. The clash was brutal, with Lucian getting battered and bruised by the world enemy, but he fought with determination, giving it his all in this epic battle.

After two hours of persistent battle, Lucian stood at the center of the dark pond, which now housed a deceased monster. Unlike typical boss monsters, world enemies don't vanish even after death; instead, they become a decoration within the dungeon or the location where they were defeated.

[You have defeated a «World Enemy»]

[You have Received 10292920 EXP]

[You have Earned the Approval of Azathoth]

[You have been rewarded an «World Class - Item» ]

Lucian swiped through all the notifications, directing his full attention to the singular object that had drawn him into an entrance—a black cube floating ominously before him, radiating chaotic energy. He extended his hand to touch the cube, and a description promptly appeared. It signified an important moment, marking the commencement of a new era—a path of sin towards an endless cycle of creation and destruction. A path where life and death would entwine within a web of sin.

Sorry for no chapter yesterday, but as I said, I'm moving houses, and man, this house is worse than my old one, there's no network here. So it's pretty hard for me to write and do my research. Sorry for the late update.

As for the Chapter, I hope you liked it. I could've gone and stretched it to 5 chapters but I didn't. Cause I wanted you guy's to enjoy it.

That item by the way, is inspired by that short story by HP Lovecraft. I hope the items concept is interesting to you guy's, cause to me, that was the item, the idea, that brought forth this entire story into existence.

I'm litteraly so tired right now, Good night.

Give some Power stones for motivation.
