The Start of The World Tournament!

[ Doyle's POV ]

~2 days later~

It's finally the awaited day. The day that I— no, we have been waiting for. Me and Luci★Fer have spent our time doing dungeons. He was a bit confused about how I was finding so many dungeons, so I ended up telling him about the connections I have made with certain information guilds. Honestly there was a small part of me that didn't want to tell him anything, but admittedly I have come to trust him a bit. Is this what it's like having a friend?

I still have my difficulties with that topic. I mean, after all I wasn't close with anyone in my past life. I adopted a certain thought process within that time that I can't seem to drop even now, 'Don't trust anyone because even the devil was once an angel'. Not even my family were someone I loved… Love? Eh whatever, Anyway, with Luci★Fer's help I figured out the time difference between the real world and YGGDRASIL. Counting my days and from what Luci★Fer told me 1 week in the real world is the same as or close to almost a month in the game. Honestly, this isn't a big surprise me, game time was always drastically faster than in the real world. Some games even had day and night systems, and within those games, days would breeze by in only about an hour 1/2.

"Hey, Doyle are you listening?" said Luci★Fer loudly snapping me back into reality.

"Huh? Yeah wassup?" I said trying to recall what he was saying before.

"Stop lying, you were obviously over there stuck in your brain again." saying this he paused then continued in a suspicious tone, "Wait a minute, you better not be thinking of any more of your weird ideas."

While I was dungeon clearing alone, I used a certain method for clearing them as fast as I did. Of course, I consider myself strong and slightly overpowered, however when I attempted these dungeons alone I never once overestimated myself. Instead, each time I challenged one I would simply walk through the walls of the dungeon, using my surroundings to traverse the dungeon safely. Due to a racial ability from my race, I can easily faze through walls or other physical, non-sentient things. With this ability, I traveled directly towards the boss room while ignoring the monsters and traps that littered the dungeons, however, although this worked very well for solo clearing, in no way was this very fast. The dungeons were big with even the smallest ones having two floors within it. It still took a lot time just to find the boss room. In addition to that, I regularly had to dodge monsters since for some reason they would find me once I moved through a wall.

So when I teamed up with Luci★Fer I made it much easier for myself- I mean both of us. Someone had to play the bait role so moving throughout the dungeon was quicker for both of us and since I was the only one who possessed the ability to walk through walls the only one who could fill that role was him. This may have caused a few traumatizing moments for him but it was efficient. Once I found the boss I would audio message him and signal for him to use a cash item I gave to him. The cash item was a one-time use item so I made sure to buy multiple, it allowed him to teleport to my location as long as I was within a certain distance to him.

Hearing the suspicion in his voice I giggle a little and respond, "No, no I was just thinking about how much longer do we have to wait until this event starts."

"See! This is why I told you to go the website where the countdown is taking place. But nope, you never listen to me." he complained.

"Why would I do that when I have you to help me with that?" I said jokingly

Luci★Fer stared at me for a second then finally agreed. "Fine, fine we have 2 minutes until it starts".

After 2 minutes passed me and Luci★Fer received notifications in our mail. Clicking on the mail icon, I opened another virtual window. Within the window it read:

[ All players, YGGDRASIL is proud to finally be able to present its very first event! Come and put your strength to the test against other players in the World Tournament! ]

I quickly read through this and found a small link under the text. After clicking the link it took me to another window showing all 9 worlds of YGGDRASIL.

[ Hello players! Due to this event taking place in all 9 worlds, everyone is free to choose whatever world they see fit to claim so choose wisely! ]

The game showed Niflheim, Muspelheim, Asgard, Midgard, Jotunheim, Vanaheim, Alfheim, Svartalfheim, and last but least Helheim. Apparently everyone could choose the world they wanted to participate in.

"Woah! So Doyle which world do you plan on participating in?" Asked Luci★Fer excitedly.

"Hmm… I don't know yet." Saying this I started to think. On the surface this required zero thinking at all, I could simply choose any world I wanted to participate in easily, participating in any of these worlds would advance my plans all the same. However if I choose one of these worlds in particular I could snuff out a certain possible future problem that could inconvenience me later on. In the end I chose to participate in the Muspelheim World Tournament.

"So you chose Muspelheim huh?" Asked Luci★Fer curiously.

"Yeah. What about you, you coming to the same place as me-"

Before I could even finish my sentence Luci★Fer quickly interrupted me. Crossing his arms in an X formation he spoke "Hell no! If I want any chance at all in winning one of these tournaments, I'm staying as far away from you as possible!"

Hearing this I laughed, "Then which world are you going to participate in?" I asked.

Luci★Fer laughed mysteriously and replied "As if I'll tell you. Your probably waiting to hear it so that you can immediately join the same world as me. Ha! Like I'll let that happen… Anyway I'll see you on the flip side, I have a tournament I plan to win!" Finishing his sentence Luci★Fer's avatar turned into white and blue data as he disappeared from his spot.

Hahaha! He really thinks I'm going to sabotage his plan. Getting my laughs out, I exhale and get serious. This event plays a major role in my plans for the future so I can't mess around. I finally click on the Muspelheim world icon and disappear from my spot.

Moments later my vision brightens up and I appear in a room. Before I can even take a look around the room I hear all kinds of chatter.

"I wonder how this event will play out."

"I know right! Just imagine what kind of rewards we will receive if one of us wins."

"Knowing the devs it's probably a super overpowered item or something similar."

Voices were heard all around me, female and male. I looked around and found that the whole room was filled up. The room itself looked like a lobby room from other games or a hub(?). It was a very large room, spacious enough to hold the many players that were here, though I'm sure that this room was not the only room for this world. If my guess was right I'm sure that there are other rooms similar to this one. The floor was decorated with red carpet. Along the carpet was a path that was a darker shade of red that was highlighted. It led towards multiple huge virtual game windows.

As I walked up toward one of the windows I analyzed it. It showed brackets of players and who they would be facing. There were hundreds of players along with the brackets. I looked around and realized every one of the huge virtual windows showcased the players' names with the brackets showing who they would face.

At the top center of the room was a large timer. It was counting down the time allowing for any of the players who hadn't joined yet and still planned to participate to have time to join. There was a second floor which I climbed since I wanted to be away from such large crowds. As I walked to the second floor I did look around, maybe I would find someone I recognized from the novel/anime?

Reaching the second floor I walked then leaned over the railing and looked down at all the players as they spoke with excitement.

After about 6 minutes the timer had only 7 minutes left until the event finally kicked off. Suddenly a player appeared and caught almost everyone's attention. He wore platinum silver armor, his helmet was similar to a knight's however there were small pieces of the helmet pointing up making it look like a crown. Along his back was a long cape with grey feathers and fur, and a sword with the same platinum color hung on his waist. (Image here hopefully lol)

"I-is that Shadow?"

"Aw fuck, and there goes my chance of winning..."

"Dammit, why did he choose this world? I thought his clan was situated in Jotunheim?!"

Multiple outbursts were heard however the player didn't acknowledge any of them and instead walked upstairs to the second floor after looking at his opponent in the brackets. I immediately knew who this guy was hearing his name. It was a name I heard after I destroyed the black skulls guild. Around that time when names were floating around for who could have been the culprit for destroying a whole guild singlehandedly and his name was at the top of that list since he was popular for his strength.

"The number 2 ranked player in the leaderboards... Shadow." I whispered.

Well looks like this tournament will be a bit fun.
