Messy. It was very messy

There were bits and pieces of machines, the stains of dry out chemicals remained on the ground, it was a mess. But it had been the home of five individuals....they eat, sleep and work here...The only condition they leave the room is for a bathroom break

The individuals had adjusted to their new lifestyle...spending two years here really changes you, one of them however used crotches to move around...Nikko

They were all gathered around a test tube...filled with blood, it looked fresh.

-Pass me the serum

He was handed another test tube, this one had a blue liquid in it

-Test 173

-It is 174, not 173

-Whatever

He held up the test tube filled with the serum and let only one drop of the chemical mix with the blood...it was all quiet...they were waiting for something...anything. They had tried this test 173 times...all failed, they made minor changes to the serum and tried again...the blood never reacted to the serum

Nikko had been introduced to the other scientists some days after his capture...they were also captured, forced to work together to develop the serum which could activate the variant gene...in summary it gave its users superpowers

It froze...the blood froze turning ice-cold, so cold its environment was affected

-EUREKA

For the first time...they had a result, they were happy but soon wiped off their faces as they realized that Theo could then put his grand plan into motion

Think...they all paced around the room wondering what to do...Nikko whoever stared at the ground with a blank expression

-Feeling guilty...just like the rest of us, am I right?

-Obviously...but...

He was about to speak but remained quiet...the door swung open and two heavily built men with unique markings on their face

-We are done...the serum is ready, let us go

The others shot their eyes that the speaker...he had an unkept spiky hair and wore a lab coat like the rest but he was much messier

Nikko stared directly into his eyes...regret...he knew what he had said had brought doom

-No...I mean it just passed one of our experiments, that was all...I overreacted

Theo walked casually into the room, he had a cane in one hand...he scanned the faces across the room until their eyes locked

-Nikko...how are you?

Silence

-Not in a mood to talk, ok then...I heard the serum is ready

-No it's not, I was just blabbing

He shook as he said this...sweat dropped from his face to the ground. Theo approached him, laying his hands on his head, and violently pulls his hair

-I think you were saying the truth...why don't we test it

The others had their eyes wide open in shock...one of them spoke

-But it is way too early to perform human trials

-I know...but why not still try

A villainous smile emerges on his face and he pulled harder on his hair

-Why don't we test it on you?

He slammed him on the ground...one of the men guarding the door went over to collect the serum from where it had been...also collecting a syringe and placed them by Theo. The guard held him down while the serum was being prepared...Theo held it up as the serum was now in the syringe

Dylan, that was his name...he had fear in his eyes, he kept struggling but he was pinned down tightly by the guard. He looked at the others screaming for help...nothing...they did nothing...they could only watch because they knew what would happen if they tried anything

The look in his eyes...his smile...it all looked terrifying...he drove the syringe into his neck, injecting some of the serum into him before placing the syringe down...the guard go off him and moved back

He was still on the ground, twitching began...screams...then his eyes turned yellow...twitching stopped so did the screams. He then slowly got to his feet...the others watched cautiously

-So what ability do you have

He looked sick and his skin turned pale, every breath he took was colder than the previous one...then he looked at Theo, who was excited

-Come on...show me what you can do

Without hesitation, he let out a large breath that crystallized everything in its path...he was quick enough to avoid it though...however, the guard was not so lucky. He charged at Dylan and delivered a powerful punch to his abdomen...and kicked him to the wall. He got up and was used his breath again...this time everyone in the room rushed for cover

One of the scientists fell victim though...Theo rushed out of where he was before Dylan could perform his ability again...he placed a punch on his jaw that sent him through the wall...and a shockwave was felt all around

He cracked his hands and smiled at his lifeless body

-Now that this is over...

A loud shout was heard...and this made him turn back...he syringe was on the ground and only a minor doze remained...the screams had stop and he slowly got up...and his eyes had turned dark green...Nikko then smiled...guess who had powers now
