Louis got dressed for the event, taking a look at herself in the mirror, she looked gorgeous.
A knock on the door, she asked the person to come in admiring her cloth.
Looking in the mirror, she saw Mike and her mother come into the room and they couldn't help but gape at her stunning look.
The light makeup made her face pop out with beauty, her stunning red gown that looked like a 90's vintage dress reaching above her knee, and her strapless shoulder revealing her shoulder skin, the hairstylist made her hair look as though she came out from the shower giving the hair a mermaid beach style, red gloves worn on her hands and then red heels.
"You look amazing," her mum complimented.
"Oh my, I wish people could see how beautiful you are."
"And that's why I'm coming for the party, c'mon, let's go," she entangled her arm around Mike's arm as they walked down the stairs Louis subconsciously felt dizzy and without recognizing her next step, she lost her balance.
"Louis," her mother yelped and then Mike immediately caught hold of her but then her leg got twisted without recognizing it had.
"Are you okay?" Mike asked as she nodded in relief, as she placed her foot on the ground placing her weight on it, she felt pain like her foot got stung and she winced in pain.
"Oh my leg," she whimpered as Mike gave concentration to her crying pain.
"What happened?"
"I think my leg got hurt, I can't stand."
"You should try maybe it's something else, or Mike, maybe is the heels you should remove it," her mum politely requested as he obliged.
Removing her heels gently, Louis placed her feet on the floor slowly but when she pressed her weight on it, she held to the railing of the stairs nearly falling as Mike took attention and then held her waist.
"I'll carry you," Mike said as he gently lifted her from the ground, and then once he reached the living room, with care he placed her on the couch.
"Dear, should I check your foot?" Her mother held her arm as she slowly shifted it and then Louis screamed in pain.
"We should take her to the hospital, I'll call the ambulance," Mike took his phone and then the call was directed to the hospital care.
"Hello, we need help here, we need one immediately," Mike gave the necessary details for the hospital, and then when he ended the call, he turned to look at her with a doting look.
"Is it gone?"
"The pain is still there," her mother answered.
"The ambulance is on the way, I'll follow you-"
"No, no, no, there is no way you're coming along, you have to attend the party, I'm sure I'll be alright. Okay?" He obediently nodded.
"I'm still willing to wait for the ambulance to arrive."
"That's fine by me."
When the ambulance arrived, she was taken into the vehicle with a stretcher.
Seeing that she had entered, Mike was about to leave when Louis held his hand.
"What happened?"
"You're frowning, you can't go to the party looking like that, they'll eventually find out that something might happen. Besides, this girlfriend doesn't want you to go with another person, you'll just have to put a smile on your face, and it must be the same smile I'll see watching the party on screen," Mike heaved a deep breath and then he nodded with a smile applied on his face.
Seeing the way the two acted, Louis' parents couldn't help but chuckle, it gave them the sensation of the feelings of their old young days and now, their daughter was just being as mischievous as they were.
"Okay, I'll go now, bye," Louis said waving at him since she was coy to kiss Mike in front of her parents.
They got to the hospital, Louis was consulted, diagnosed and after an x-ray was done, the result revealed that she had a sprain on her ankle but then the doctor had to privately talk with her parents.
"What happened, doc?" Her mother questioned with a face full of evident worry, like wise her mother, the doctor also had an expression unveiling that what she was about to say was going to be bad news.
"After we diagnosed her, the result showed that she had a sprain but not just her ankle, we also discovered that some of the tissues in her lungs had been affected."
"What's the meaning?" Louis asked.
"Your daughter is diagnosed with lung disease," the doctor explained with a straight face giving a big wave of shock to her mother as she covered her mouth shaking her head unable to believe it her husband comforted her though he was disheartened.
"The disease is dangerous to her lungs but thankfully she is just at the early stage, and luckily, we have the medicine for the treatment of the disease, it would reduce the rapid growth of the disease."
"Will she be okay if she takes the drug?"
"Ma'am, I can't give you the expected information that she would be okay, she'll probably last a year but if it happens by miracle, she might live long. For now, taking the drug would only make the growth reduce."
"Mum, dad?" Louis called from behind with crutches on her two arms.
She wanted to tell her parents she was ready to go after getting the medicine from the pharmacy but the prescription for one of the drugs was unfamiliar with the drug she would use to treat her sprain, so she went to meet the doctor who diagnosed the medicine just to hear the doctor taking about living a year or by miracle.
"What are you talking about?" Louis questioned ignorantly as her mother held herself from crying but she couldn't take it any longer, she walked over to her daughter to hug her wholeheartedly.
"Mum, what's this for? I only had my ankle sprain, and it's going to heal in a week or two, so what's the drama about? Doctor? What did you say to Mum that's making her cry?"
"Ma'am, according to the diagnose we did, we discovered that you're battling with lung disease," the doctor explained and then, the curious one a while ago dropped the bag containing her medicine in shock.
She chuckled with a smile though her heart was broken.
"Lungs disease?"
