The large hall was brightly lit with tens of flickering candles and glowing lanterns. Although it was not lavishly decorated, the few furniture and decorations present spoke volumes about the prestige and wealth of the person who resided here. There were few in the kingdom who could afford the decorative silk curtains hanging between the pillars and the set of pure agarwood furniture that filled the air with a faint fragrance. Even fewer could afford the bonsai tree carved from premium jade that was sitting on a side tea table and the porcelain tea cups infused with gold veins. The curtains were a nice golden yellow—an exclusive color for the imperial family. Anyone else discovered using this particular shade of color would immediately be tried and killed for treason.
