Chapter 58: Meeting Spandam

Kai was looking out the window at the entrance when Spandam said. "Who is this random commander in my room? Why did you let him in here?" Blueno heard this and cut in. "He was the one who was about to capture Nico Robin when we got there. He went undercover for months."

Blueno decided to omit the part about Kai wearing his marine cape the entire time he was undercover.

Spandam scoffed at this. "Who cares? He's just some random commander! He is nothing compared to me! I am the leader of CP9! It would be a different story if he was higher up like a vice admiral or something, or maybe if he had some connections but he is just useless to me. You should have just kicked him out or killed him."

Kai almost laughed out loud at how stupid this guy was along with everyone else in the room who siffled laughter at him.

Robin giggled a bit at Spandam who snapped. "Shut up whore!"

Kai felt his eyebrow twitch heavily as his body threatened to end this guy's miserable existence right then and there but he held back. He lit a cigarette and looked back out the window in an attempt to calm himself down. He put on his emotionless facade once more to mask his intense bloodlust.

Robin didn't even respond to Spandam, he was about to say something else. but Kai cut him off emotionlessly saying in a dull voice. "What's the point in throwing meaningless insults at her?"

Spandam along with the CP9 agents in the room couldn't notice a difference in Kai's voice but Robin did. She lightly smiled to herself knowing that this meant Kai was extremely angry on her behalf.

Spandam took the question seriously and started talking. "Who cares what I do with her? She's government property anyway! I can insult her as much as I want!"

When he heard this, Kai's emotionless face had no changes to it other than his eyes, which started to glow.

"Is that so?" Kai asked in a dull voice and the air room started to get slighlty heavier and tremble very slightly with each word that left his lips.

Spandam, too wrapped up in his own delusional superiority didn't even notice the room shake as he continued on. "It is! She is a devil who has no place in this world! After the government finishes extracting information I could even request her as my plaything! She would be forced to stay with me for the rest of our lives only to serve whatever purpose I so desire!"

*SLAM* Spandam didn't know what happened until he felt a sharp pain in the back of his body and a hand gripping his throat tightly. Kai held him in the air with his back pinned against the wall. Spandam looked down and saw Kai's deep blue eyes glowing with a bloodthirsty look in them.

The entire tower of justice was now constantly shaking under a heavy pressure. Every single person in the building was knocked out in an instant other than the people currently in the room. A black lightning with a blue tint around it danced around Kai as another huge wave pressure erupted. Spandam couldn't even speak under the pressure he was facing from the man he was mocking a second ago.

Then a voice the Spandam would never forget reverberated through the air. Kai's voice dripped with malice and rage.

"Say. That. Again."

With every word that spilled out the atmosphere grew heavier and the building shook more fiercely. The windows cracked and the wall Spandam was slammed into started to shake as it threatened to collapse.

All the CP9 agents were frozen in shock and fear at the moment, unable to stand up to the man in front of them. They just silently watched the man in front of them and fought against the pressure that almost knocked them out as it continued to grow heavier.

Spandam clawed at the hand on his throat with both arms, trying desperately to get himself free. It was a futile struggle as Kai only gripped tighter in response. Kai brought Spandam closer to him so their eyes were only 3 inches away.

"I said. Say that again."

Kai's voice sent shivers down the spine of not only Spandam but also every single CP9 agent in the room.

Just as Spandam's face started turning red from a lack of oxygen Kai released him, letting him fall to the floor. He immediately started simultaneously crawling away from Kai and gasping for air. Kai turned back around to face out the window only to realize it was broken.

He took a deep breath and said in the emotionless voice he had just regained. "Say anything like that about Nico Robin again, and there won't be a CP9." Kai's dull voice sent chills down everyone's spine again.

Kai looked down at the window once again and thought for a moment, before he realized what happened. He was the cause. Kai felt a little bit different ever since his last talk with Robin, as if a huge weight was finally lifted off his shoulders and now he knew what it was. He had gotten rid of the self blame and fear of being rejected by the people he cared about. He didn't feel the burden anymore, and it seemed this was a major restriction.

Now that he was no longer held back by meaningless thought and was confident in himself he had awakened his haoshoku haki. He always just assumed that he never had it because he never wanted to rule over anyone or anything. He just wanted to help out the people he cares for, and he would do anything to achieve that goal.

He now realized that his will to do anything to achieve his goal was exactly what he needed to awaken his haki and what happened before was that he was holding himself back by constantly questioning himself and his own actions. Once he heard someone accept and validate his actions he felt a new unwavering confidence and drive to achieve his goal.

This all went through Kai's mind in less than a second due to this enhanced brain speed. Right after that thought he took advantage of the tense atmosphere and the fact the most people in the room were avoiding looking in his direction to do one more thing. He turned invisible for a split second and grabbed a golden snail that was on Spandam's desk as he replaced it with a new one.

CP9 and Spandam were still in a daze so they didn't even notice Kai disappear for less than a quarter of a second. Even if they had noticed they would have done nothing as it was so fast they would have just thought they blinked on their own.

Kai stared back out the window as if nothing happened. Eventually the CP9 members slowly walked out of the room as they had no reason to be here anymore and they were still slightly scared of Kai. Spandam had regained his breath but was still shitting himself. He quickly grabbed the golden snail as well as his own den den mushi and fled the room. Leaving only Robin, Franky and Kai in the room.

Kai let his emotionless mask fall as he kicked the wall he slammed Spandam into causing a hole the size of 3 men to form.

"I should've just killed that fucking bastard." He said with rage still apparent in his voice.

Robin had a sad smile appear on her face and she walked up to Kai. She hugged him from behind and said. "Thanks, you're my knight in shining armour."

Kai took a moment before a genuine smile appeared on his face. "No problem, Robin." He turned around to look in her eyes and explained.

"There's a reason he's still alive. I have a plan. Ah... before I forget, here, a gift for you." Kai pulled out the golden snail and handed it to Robin.

Robin had a large smile grace her lips. "So this is what you were doing. I think I see where this is going. Do you want me to go along with this kidnapping for a little longer?"

Kai nodded and whispered to her so Franky couldn't hear. "He calls a buster call later, we broadcast it to the island and I'll broadcast it to the marines. Double whammy. All the marines on the island hear a buster call is coming and run leaving no marines on the island so we call all escape easily, then the marine HQ hears that a buster call is called for no reason and plants a seed of doubt in their hearts about the government."

Robin smiled at him. "You're good at these, it's just like with Croc on Alabasta, the best results with the least casualties."

Kai nodded. "That's my goal."

Franky, who couldn't hear what they were saying, called out to them from across the room. "So, what's the plan?"

Kai and Robin looked at him and said in sync. ""What plan?""

Franky paused before shouting. "You just said you had a plan!"

Kai tilted his head. "Who? Me? I didn't say that."

Franky almost punched Kai in the face but just sighed.

"Then are you gonna tell me you two were flirting or something? A marine and the devil-child?"

Franky asked and they both nodded and Kai said. "Let's go with that." Franky lost it this time and punched Kai only for his fist to go right through his face that exploded into air.

Robin grew arms out of Franky and held him in place as Kai's head reformed. "Wahahaha! Don't worry Robin, you can let him go."

Robin nodded and released her hold. Franky got back up. "What was that for?"

Robin looked at him sternly, actually a little angry right now even thought she knew that it wouldn't hurt Kai.

"You just punched my boyfriend. Did you think I would let you get away with it?" She sent a jab at Franky with a slightly offsetting look in her eyes.

Franky gulped, a little scared and had his jaw drop. "You're actually dating?!!"

Kai and Robin both just nodded seriously and Franky was shocked.

"Huh?" He was very confused. "What the fuck is going on here? You're dating, but you let her get captured, then you follow her and chase out the other people trying to rescue her, then you come here, beat the shit out of Spandex for talking shit about her, then don't escape when you're left alone?"

Kai nodded. "Long story, basically, you just need to know this. I'm a genius who is a thousand steps ahead of all of you fools and everything will end up great as it all goes according to my master plan."

Robin had already calmed back down and calmly nodded at this suggestion like it was normal, she trusted Kai and his plan.

Franky felt a vein pop on his forehead. "Then tell me the plan!"

Kai shook his head. "If I tell you it would ruin everything."

Franky gasped. "Really? It would ruin the plan if I knew? Then you can't tell me! This plan needs to work to save the world! If me hearing it causes the plan to go to ruin then don't tell me!"

Kai looked at him seriously and said. "No. It wouldn't ruin the plan. It would ruin the fun."

Before he turned around and looked out the window. Franky was left in a daze by his words and Robin laughed.

"Nishishishi!"

Franky finally snapped out of his daze.

"You asshole!" He said as he tried to punch Kai again only for him to be stopped by Robin.

Franky was about to say something else but Kai spoke up first.

"I spy with my little eye, a Rubber band!" He said as he pointed in the distance and Robin and Franky looked over to see a kid with a Straw Hat flying through the air over the gates yelling.

"ROBIN! I'M HERE TO SAVE YOU!! SOGEKING TOLD US EVERYTHING! YOU AND FUJIN DIDN'T BETRAY US!" Robin giggled and let her face fall into a huge smile.

"They really came, just for us." She said in a giddy tone.

Kai nodded at her statement. "Of course. And Luffy is still an idiot who doesn't realize Sogeking is Usopp and had to have Usopp tell him I'm not his enemy."

Robin laughed and whispered to Kai. "Nishishishi! I mean he still hasn't recognized you, so how would he know about Usopp?"

Kai laughed loudly. "Wahaha! You're right!"

Franky asked the two. "Wait a minute, he didn't realize that Sogeking was the guy from your crew? How did he not realize?"

Kai and Robin laughed and said at the same time. ""Wahahaha!/Nishishishi! He's an idiot!""

Franky was shocked. "Then why do you follow him?"

Robin and Kai both answered again.

""Cause he's an idiot."" Leaving Franky even more confused.

He was about to speak again but Kai cut him off. "You'll understand soon."

Robin thought for a moment and asked Kai in a whisper.

"You really think he's gonna join?" Kai nodded.

"100%. Wanna bet?"

Robin laughed and shook her head.

"Nishishishi! No thanks, I don't want to lose again."

Kai smiled and watched the carnage unfold from the window with Robin and Franky.
