"Begin," David ordered as the witches started chanting. The circle began to glow as the lights in the cavern flickered continuously. It was a scene straight out of a horror movie, but David knew it wasn't them causing it.
The horned bastard had been waiting all this time to brand her. Reaching forth with his consciousness, David immediately entered Wanda's subconscious.
Opening his eyes, he found himself in a world of red. Looking closer, he noticed the flickering lights hanging in the air... no, they were on buildings.
"Considering your size, it's weird that you're trying to play hide and seek with me," David said as he began to hover into the air. As he did so, the true form of his environment slowly began to show—it was a small village. The village where she had grown up.
"Of course, her mindscape would be such a place," David chuckled. He scanned the entire mindscape for the foreign octopus, but even after several minutes, he found nothing.
"Coward," David muttered before suddenly snapping his fingers. Instantly, the red mist disappeared, and he found himself standing in front of a small crack in space. Chthon had fled.
Pulling his consciousness out of the girl's mind, he turned to the four witches, who were still chanting with all their might.
"Jean, protect them and her. Do not hesitate to use lethal force. There's a good chance that what will come isn't human," David said, looking at the girl who stood there, watching in confusion.
"What?" she asked.
"Protect them," David repeated before vanishing from where he stood.
"Come back here, explain!!" Jean screamed to the empty space.
Meanwhile, within an enclosed space, a young man appeared, looking no older than twenty. However, his body glowed so brightly that the ground around him was singed.
"Seriously, a prison to hold me?" David said, looking at the red being who stood smiling at him.
"So much power, yet so foolish," Chthon said.
"Do you think this will hold me?" David asked with a smile on his face.
"Of course it will. You have no power here."
"Even in death, I have more power than you," David said before snapping his fingers.
Instantly, the 'prison' began to dissolve as David hovered into the air and started flying higher.
Not believing his eyes, Chthon watched in confusion. No god should function this well in the Flickering Realms. It was a realm of damnation, a realm of his own creation.
"Don't overthink it. I am far beyond you," David said as he glowed brighter until everything around him was burnt.
When the light died down, David found himself floating above a large desert. The nonexistent sun shone down brightly as the sands moved with the wind.
"He really wasn't relevant to the story," David said with a shrug. Normally, there would be some form of resistance against him for trying to kill an Elder God, but there was none.
Shrugging it off, he snapped his fingers as a massive mound of flesh and guts of all kinds appeared before him.
