The face he was making was really a sight to see. That face of utter shame and embarrassment was a serious gold. Can't miss this opportunity to burn it into my mind.
'Oh, nothing nothing. And don't make that face. You might sadden the girl next to you.'

The hopeless girl was walking along with Sou with small strides. She was obviously weak and still doubtful of what was happening. She was most probably scared. Well, that was a given. Even after hearing those words from Sou, there was little chance she would go with the story so easily. She must be preparing herself for an event when she would be alone again. That's pretty sad considering all of the things she had to go through. But she didn't know that it was not possible for Sou to abandon her.
