Chapter 26

I left my car in the long term lot, then hustled my butt into the airport to sign in and check my bags. I made it through security with no problems and got to the boarding gate with time to spare.

Coop was already there, casually leaning against a post, watching something on the overhead TV. I took a seat nearby, opened the book I was carrying, and read until they announced it was time to board. It was a non-stop flight, so I was able to sleep before we landed.

I got my bags from baggage claim, caught a taxi to the hotel, checked in, and went up to my room. A few minutes later, Coop called to say he was in a room two floors above me. I knew that, of course. Reynolds had made our reservations there, as well as for the flight.

“Do you want to rest some more,” Coop asked, laughter in his voice. “You were dead to the world on the plane.”

“No. I’m fine.”
