Pills

Tian Guo Min was in the middle of an executive meeting when Shen Wen called, so his assistant picked up on his behalf. Shen Wen frowned when she didn't reach her husband. She knew that he was holding an important meeting, but she was only asking for one minute to spare. Since he was busy, she didn't drag on the topic. Instead, she excused herself and hung up.

Before visiting the lab, Shen Wen made a call to a relative's son who works as a lab assistant to make sure that he was available to help her identify the pill. After confirming his availability, she rushed over to the hospital, where he took the zip lock bag from her and placed a label on it. Since it was a personal favor, he decided to inspect the pill right away.

While she waited outside in the waiting area, she watched as doctors and nurses walked in and out of the lab. For some reason, her heart was pounding loudly as if she had done something wrong and was about to get caught for it. She took out the empty medicine container and read the vitamin label on the sticker.

Coincidentally, Lily had just finished her business nearby and decided to drop by the hospital to give Lin Que a surprise. Since she told him that she was running errands around the area, he didn't expect her to finish before lunch time. She giggled and wore a face mask after exiting the elevator.

In the middle of texting, Lily recognized the familiar figure sitting in the seating area. In a split second, her eyes focused to her right as she casually walked pass the waiting room. 'That was definitely Tian Yuo's mother, Shen Wen. She was holding some receipt looking paper and a medicine container? ...hmm... If I don't look into this, my last name will be spelled backwards from now on!'

Using her special access card, she entered the lab and made a few turns to the security room where she asked the security to show her the footage for the past hour. 'She must be waiting for something, but what?'

When she saw Shen Wen and the lab assistant together, she asked the security to zoom in on the camera, "thanks." She snapped a quick picture and sent it to Lin Que. Right after her text was delivered to his side, she called him and asked him for the assistant's information. She knew that in order for anyone to work in the labs for Lin Que, they would have to pass through his interview. Therefore, he must remember even a little bit about this man.

Lin Que immediately gave her a name, "That's Alan, the new lab assistant."

"Thanks, babe. Where should he be right now?"

"I assigned him to lab number 3. Why?"

"Your cat is out of the box. Give you two minutes to get him out of there and stall his time for me.""

"How long?" Without any questions, he chuckled and asked how much time she needed him to delay Alan.

"15 minutes?" She sounded unsure how long it would take her.

"I'll make it half an hour." He said and hung up.

She smiled and waited for Alan to get out of the lab so that she could sneak in without anyone finding out. Two minutes later, Alan rushed out of the lab towards the other side of the hall.

"Hehe, good job, darling." She licked her lips and hurriedly entered the lab. The room had many files and tubes with chemicals in it. Lily was careful to not touch or knock anything over while being in there.

Quickly, she set a timer for 25 minutes to make sure that she doesn't lose track of time. While walking around the lab and looking through different files, she couldn't find anything related to Shen Wen. "That's odd..wait. She's still outside right now, so that means either she is waiting for a report...or she's waiting for someone to write up a report. She had that container in her hand..hmmm"

She rubbed her chin and stepped back and forth between stations. Suddenly, something caught her attention. Her body moved backwards a few steps as her eyes laid on the zip lock bag that was on the desk. There were a few pills inside the slightly opened zip lock bag. Judging by the wrinkles on the bag, opening of the bag and how disorganized it looked compared to everything else, Lily whispered, "bingo."

She took a new pair of transparent gloves and picked up the bag before inspecting the pills. "I've seen a lot of different medicines before, but this pill is a first. The color and shape of it is a little different...Hmmm? Madam..Shen Wen..."

A small smile curved behind her masked face, "as I had suspected. This does belong to her. Good thing that Alan dude still knows how to label his shit despite randomly tossing such important subjects everywhere."

She took out her phone and dialed Susu's number. At first, she debated reaching out to Chen Mu, but she didn't know whether he would pick up her calls if he was busy. Therefore, she ended up calling Susu because only her calls would always get through to him and she wouldn't ever not pick up her calls. Within the first two rings, Susu picked up the call, "Lily?"

"Susu! Where are you? Is Chen Mu around you right now?" Lily looked at her timer and realized that she had a little less than 10 minutes left to spare.

Sensing her urgency, Susu answered, "He's right next to me, hold on."

Chen Mu answered, "What's up?"

"Listen, I have a very short amount of time so I will not explain anything more. I'm sending a picture to Susu's phone, and I want you to tell me if you know what kind of pill this is. Lin Que is occupied right now, so I really need you to help me with it."

Lily bit her lips, snapped a picture and tapped her heels impatiently for the message to be delivered. "Got it." Chen Mu put the call on speakers and checked the message. When he saw the pills in her hand, his eyes widened. His eyes dimmed as he recognized his own product in her hands.

Instantly, he turned the phone off the speaker and said, "those are Susu's medicine pills. She lost it earlier. Where are you? Where did you find them?"

Lily nervously replied, "Lin Que's laboratory room, number three. I saw Shen Wen outside the lab, and this was what she submitted. It's most likely for pill identification. I have 5 minutes left before I have to make a run for it. What should I do with the pills? I can't leave with the bag because the assistant will notice."

"Listen, from the door entrance, walk straight and make a left. On the top, you see all those blue cabinets? With your access card, unlock the second to last one and there should be a container with pills very similar to the ones in your hand. Replace them."

Lily's legs and arms were quick in action. Within a minute, she switched out the pills and safely wrapped Susu's medicine in a new container before stuffing it to her bag. She made sure to leave the zip lock bag slightly opened after stuffing the replaced pills inside. "Done. I'll talk to you later. Everything is weird right now. I need to leave. I'll call again."

After the call ended, Chen Mu's heart was pounding heavily as he interrupted the lively conversation between his parents, Chen Nan, Ariana and Susu. He faced them with a worried expression, "They made a move."

Everyone paused and focused their attention to him, "Who?" Susu wrinkled the areas between her brows with a confused look on her face.

"The Tian family" His voice was cold and hands held onto Susu's hands tightly.
