After hearing his words "Bruce" turned his head around and looked at the butler. His eyes darted to the food for a second only to change his glance back at the boards in front of him.
"I don't feel hungry...But thank you, Alfred."
The butler narrowed his eyes and approached closer taking a look at all the things that the kid had researched. There were a bunch of various books lying around on the ground from the family library.
He knew the young boy was troubled and sad at the moment. After all his parents only had died a week ago. And when looking at one of the boards where his parents' names and his own were written, together with the various scientific books about space and time, you could guess what the kid was thinking.
Picking some of the books up and neatly placing them on a table Alfred came to the kid and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"If you don't eat, you will only tire yourself out and thinking will be harder without energy."
The kid sighed again and nodded right after. He was right, the exhaustion was already catching up with him thinking about all the things that came rushing to his mind the past few days.
But the kid guessed it was only a side effect from his mind going haywire.
After all, when you are THE Bruce Wayne, then you can easily end up caught in a frenzy to get results for your problems.
One can say what you will, but Bruce was a damn genius when it came to solving problems. And he was not exactly stupid anyway. With his old memories being fully back it was only a matter of time before this trait from his new body would start acting up.
Yes, he was now Bruce Wayne. Bruce Nathaniel Wayne to be exact. Another version of Batman.
Well, that is also why he was currently so frantically researching the many theories about different dimensions.
Sure, he lacked expertise. But generally, it was okayish to get a first picture of things.
Though it was something else entirely if you started and actually understood most of the things easily.
And truth be told he was really only researching this out of panic...The culprit for that is something else entirely.

[Day 2667: You are back in America and concentrating on your family's business, innovating a few new methods in Biochemistry, Medical Applications, and Technology. Your rival Stark Industries has proposed cooperating in the field of weaponry after gaining knowledge of your technology in the Automobile industry.]
And there it was! Fucking Stark Industries!! Given time he would have figured it out himself without the simulation but he knows now that he is in some weird ass clusterfuck of doom. DC and Marvel? That only spells D E A T H in big-ass letters.
If it were just him being in the Marvel universe as Batman then he could somewhat keep calm.
[Day 2852: You work together with Oscorp and it's medical branch Alchemax at a New York fair and end up getting an idea to test a few of the spiders they had bred to produce new silk products. You find out that the spiders are highly dangerous. Missing one of the spiders you carefully inspect its cage with infrared and other machines. Yet you lost one of the spider's whereabouts. You accidentally get bitten by a genetically modified spider at home, its carcass still near the wound where you slapped it.]
[Day 2853: You are mutating and it is fighting your immune system. -Green-Rank: Resting in bed is amazing- saved your hide. The results show that you certainly are a variation of Spider-Man.]
'I literally became Spider-Bat....' When thinking about it again he could only sigh while drinking his orange juice and relaxing. 'But I only survived because I chose that Green-Rank ability that lets me recover from basically anything as long as I sleep in a bed for a night. Makes me wonder how that RPG ability is only green rank...Maybe because of its requirements?'
[Day 2854: You perform more tests and get used to the new powers. Increased Strength, Endurance, Reflexes, and Agility. Your already peak condition became abnormally stronger and you feel there is still room for improvement. It makes you fear yourself. After analyzing the degree of your body being a spider, you find a worrying fact. You are still mutating. Slowly, but surely. It explains a lot of your existing abilities like your body already producing organic silk. You also find out about your ability to vanish from any and all electrical devices which explains you not being able to find the spider at first. You are also able to produce bioelectricity that did a number on your equipment when testing.]
'So I had Miles's spider. But I remember him being able to be caught via heat vision. Looks like my version was a little nastier.'
[Day 2855: You found out that near your liver another organ has grown that resembles a toxin gland. Finding that odd you analyze your saliva for toxins, finding none. You noticed increased nail growth and came to the realization that your body found a way to produce poisonous claws. Testing the poison it was luckily only a paralyzing toxin.]
[Day 2856: You are definitely worried about your body slowly mutating. So you started creating a suppressant drug.]
'Yeah, definitely nastier if my alter ego started a countermeasure against it.'
[Day 2945: News about Spider-Man was spreading in New York. You were not the only one that was bitten....]
[Day 3124: You failed to produce a suppressant and ended up mutating into a giant spider.]
[Day 3743: After wreaking havoc in Gotham City, you were killed by a young Superman. Simulation ending.]
[Completion Rank D. Randomizing rewards. Please choose one of the three options: 1# Spider Bite, 2# Battle Experience against Superman, 3# Green-Rank: Resting in bed is amazing]
Obviously, he neither took the experience nor the bite. One would be a waste and the other a danger that would inevitably kill him by turning him into a monster spider. So he just picked the ability that let him at least restore his body to some degree. It even saved him from his initial mutation.
Anyway, by now even others should be able to see his dilemma. Superman was a thing, meaning not only was he in Marvel but also in fucking DC, a mix of it all. And that brought him to study some science to figure out how the hell that could have ended up.
His end result is that the further you strayed from the original world, the more changes happen. One way or another it just so happened that he landed in such one world.
Truth be told, there are many similarities between Marvel and DC. And the earth was always a constant after all.
Now, he had to scramble his head and try to survive in this world. He was not Batman. He may have his name but he himself was not even sure what he should do. The only solace being is the innate talents he inherited from said character.
But why should he follow in the same footsteps when the whole world is a completely different one?
