Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex is a Sports Edutainment Complex located in Gelora, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Indonesia, established as a symbol of the splendor and greatness of the Indonesian state that can unite developed and developing countries. The GBK milestone was marked by the appointment of Indonesia by the Asian Games Federation as the host of the IV Asian Games in 1962. President Soekarno welcomed this momentum by building a sports venue mega project equipped with several facilities such as the Athlete's House and named Gelora Bung Karno.
The complex was built in 1960 for the 1962 Asian Games and recently underwent major reconstruction for the 2018 Asian Games and 2018 Asian Games for People with Disabilities.
This sports complex is named in honor of Soekarno, the first President of Indonesia, who is also the figure who sparked the idea of building this sports complex.
