Chapter 18: A MESSAGE?

Our ears were fixed on the radio,

As the doctor finished his sentence,

I felt hopeless as truth slapped our faces,

Should we ever truly find the oasis?

I stood up, thinking of all the bad things humanity had done,

And questioned myself, if our chances were truly gone,

Then with a hungry stomach, we huddled close to each other,

Forcing ourselves, to go down into a deep deserved slumber.

I only saw pitch blackness, when I closed my eyes,

Until I felt something unusual, like my body's beginning to rise,

Then in that black space, I saw a round object approaching,

I can't move, I just stared, I honestly don't know what I'm doing.

When it was closer, I felt fear when I realized,

It was a big eyeball, well, this wasn't paradise,

I tried to move my body, to wake myself up from this nightmare,

And it then moved to me extremely closer, closer than I can bear.

It spoke, what a hoarse and scary voice,

But I still listened, 'cause really I have no choice,

"Be not afraid," it spoke to me with calm,

I want to believe, but I still have a few qualms.

It looks terrifying, with it's two pair of wings it was flying,

I wanted to keep listening, but the longer I look the more bizarre it was looking,

It told me...or he? To not go out of the house for 5 days,

Because if we would, death and agony, we'd surely taste.

It told me to trust it, to trust his words,

To not trust the voices, and the faces in this world,

For the devil is cunning, is beautiful and deadly,

And if we want to live, we must follow, obediently.

I woke up, with sweat dripping on my face,

My heart thumping, in a very unsteady pace,

The night was still young, so I proceeded to sleep,

I wonder if it was a message, or just a dream so deep?

Sometimes I can hear its voice,

Deep and mysterious, still reminding me of those words,

Told me to lead them, to safety, to new beginning,

But was it just a product of hunger? Was I still dreaming?
