"How could you not open the door?! Are you a bunch of idiots?!"
Kale shouted at the group of employees standing in a row before him. He was so mad that he almost threw the coffee pot at them. If that woman were to die, all the company shares would go to their hateful uncle immediately, and they would have lost everything.
"Useless! You are a bunch of useless idiots!"
All the employees lowered their heads and didn't say a word. They could not understand how the door was locked so tightly. Even the window was impossible to break from outside.
They were afraid of young master Kale, but the silence from the man standing behind him, looking outside the window, was even more terrifying.
"You are all fired! Butler Han, find people more capable."
"Yes, Young Master."
When the row of employees left the room, Evan turned around.
"What happened?"
"I don't know brother, I am sorry... I will look for more capable people."
He was about to walk out of the room when the door opened. A man in a white robe entered with a shocked face, looking at some reports.
"Evan, this... this is incredible!"
"What is it, James?"
Evan called the man, he was his childhood friend and the doctor in charge of that woman's health. He was the only one he trusted not to kill her.
"She miraculously recovered... I can't explain how... she is not poisoned anymore. Though the brain tumor is still there, she is in a better condition than before. She must have done something inside that bathroom, we must interrogate her...!"
"What do you mean? How can she?" Kale grabbed the reports, but he didn't understand most of them.
"Look, I ran the tests myself twice. Her body expelled the poison somehow, inside the tube were traces of detoxifying medicine... a very advanced formula. I've never seen something like that before. It... it is a miracle."
James couldn't believe how that woman, who was at the death's door and needed a miracle to stay alive for a year, was capable of curing her body that fast.
"Is she truly her?" Evan asked with a furrowed brow.
"What are you implying? Of course, she is her. Although... I doubted it at first, but I compared her blood and DNA, and she was the same person but healthier. She must have done something... maybe she knew the cure, this type of poison was almost impossible to cure, only with... maybe... she somehow met him, Evan."
"What are you saying?"
"Maybe she has a way to contact that man, and if we convince her to tell us where and when she met him, we might find him and force him to treat your sister. Even if it is not the same man, she must know someone with comparable skills... Evan, this is an opportunity..."
Evan stayed silent, his hands clenched tightly. Only God knew how much he wanted to find that man and make him cure Elena. However, there were no clues of his current location. Every sign of him disappeared as if he were only an illusion. No one remembered his face, the color of his eyes, his hair, or if he was old or young. Those he helped only knew that he saved them as if he was a god from another era, but nobody could recall what he looked like.
Anyone would think they were lying, but Evan and James also met him in person. They remembered talking to him the same as the others, but as if some kind of hypnosis happened, their memory of that man vanished quickly.
Two years ago, he helped them pull them out of the car after the accident, and miraculously he saved their lives with his extraordinary medical skills. He didn't ask for anything as a reward, but gave them a pill, a strange-looking pill, telling them it was medicine for Elena.
Evan kept the pill, and before he gave it to his younger sister, he made his best scientists and researchers examine it, even James analyzed it. The formula contained in the pill proved to be miraculous, however, just as they were going to give it to Elena and make different replicas, someone stole the pill and erased the formula.
They hadn't caught the culprit but watching that woman and the miracle she just performed, she might have something to do with the mysterious doctor or the stolen pill.
"Evan, what should we do? We have to interrogate that woman."
Evan nodded and left the room. If someone should look for answers it should be him, that woman's husband.
His long legs led him to the back of the mansion, to the annex. He made his people accommodate that woman far away from the main mansion. No one but authorized people could see her or touch her as if she were a precious treasure or an imprisoned criminal.
He unlocked three doors with his fingerprint before reaching her room.
"Out!" he shouted, frightening the old nurse, who left the room and closed the door.
The man approached the sleeping woman and watched her carefully. She didn't look like the woman he married two days ago, she looked almost completely different, healthier, and with a bit of color in her skin.
Her face was still thin and pale, but her skin was more white and pure, it looked softer. Even her hair was glossy and silky. As if she had been reborn into a new body in a few hours.
He lifted the covers and looked at her legs and arms. The scars he saw through the cameras were still there but recovering, almost healed. He touched the skin and it felt authentic. Then he looked at her abdomen and traced it with his fingers, the deep purple bruises were already vanishing.
"How did you do it?"
He was amazed by the recovery, but he was more amazed by how he was feeling. For some reason, she seemed familiar, as if she was someone he met long ago.
"Who are you?"
She looked pretty even with her thin and sickly body.
His eyes continued to trace her body as if he were in a trance.
His chest beat quickly with every second, his eyes rested on her face trying to recall where he met her. It was as if his body recognized her, but his mind had forgotten.
Suddenly, she moved to the side, and the shirt she was wearing that only covered the upper part of her body, rose slightly. She was only wearing a pair of small white panties and nothing else.
His eyesight deepened, and he couldn't help the sensation of touching her.
'What is this?'
He had never had that feeling for a woman before. Even more, for an unknown and unconscious woman. He looked at her delicate face, her cheeks, her long eyelashes, her little nose, and her cute lips. They were a bit dry, but he wanted to taste them.
"This is crazy," he closed his eyes, but again her presence altered his emotions. He imagined her awake, healthy, and smiling.
'What is going on?' he couldn't understand why he was feeling that for an unknown and sick woman. However, just as she moved again to the side pressing the needle on her arm, he got closer to stop her.
Her face was closer to him, and he couldn't help but lean towards her. However, at that very moment, the little woman furrowed her forehead and made a sign as if to open her eyes and wake up. Evan panicked and moved backward, but couldn't stop looking at her expectantly.
But she didn't wake up, and he was disappointed.
'What am I doing? What is wrong with me?'
Then he stood up fast and left the room after closing it carefully.
"Brother? What's wrong?" Kale and James followed him but couldn't enter the room. Evan had locked it after entering.
"Evan?"
Evan didn't answer, he only stood waiting for a few minutes without saying anything calming his thoughts.
"What is going on, Evan?"
"She... she is waking up."
"Then I should go inside," James was about to walk inside when Evan stopped him.
"Wait. Don't enter."
Evan entered the room again and closed the door. He remembered taking out the bedsheets from her body. He couldn't let other men look at her. However, he forgot that she was about to wake up.
"You..."
