"Natal Weapon! He's refined a natal weapon!"
"LEGEND!"
"Scatter, scatter! Retreat!"
"Too late," Gales of wind energy surrounded Osiris' body.
He held the handle and lashed with the nine tails that each had a blade at the end. These blades were sky blue and released dreadful neon energy. Five small cyclones made of wind and serene ice force belted into the dark elves surrounding the Blue Waves Ice Demon Wolf, followed by nine lacerating blades.
At the same time, the Blue Waves Ice Demon Wolf released a mighty howl that blasted through the city.
"Fuck! This is bad!" the dark elf vice troop leader under Louis Black was not at all keen on fighting a losing battle despite the Dark Elf's heralded pride.
He immediately decided to retreat.
Just one Osiris Trillwolf that had come out of nowhere was already enough to slaughter them all. Troop leader Black was dead in an instant, and they would all soon follow.
The dark elf vice troop leader was unwilling to die, already dashing away as he shouted, "Quick, you fools! Retreat!"
However, just as that man started to lead a few team members away, he noticed that every step they took was shrouded in shadows. Despite their frantic attempts to escape, none of them had actually gotten anywhere this entire time.
A soft bell chimed, and Ke Si's voice drifted into their ears, causing their backs to fill with cold sweat, "My apologies, gentlemen. Tonight, as per my Lord's command, none of you will be leaving."
Ke's voice echoed through the darkness.
His hands moved faster than light, forming hundreds of intricate seals that shimmered with energy. In a flash of blinding white light, Ke dissolved into his own shadow, which swelled and expanded until it towered over the dark elves like an oppressive mountain of blackness. The shadows merged together and blanketed them in a wall of smothering darkness.
From above, the cover of dark forces looked like a pyramid.
"No! How could you possibly control darkness force to such an extent? What is that?" the vice troop leader screamed in horror.
The dark elves quickly summoned their protective true energy, but the darkness surrounding them was like all-encompassing sand and disrupted the flow of their essence.
"Honored guests, do not be in such a rush. Please, stay." Ke's voice echoed in the darkness as curse marks crawled out of his hands.
The curse marks infected the mana in the atmosphere like a plague, corrupting it into swarms of rukh that churned the air like storm clouds. The trifold magic circle opened portals to chasms of infinite darkness, and Ke Si watched as ten sinister spears of shadow emerged from within.
Ten sharp shadow spears hung in the void above the pyramid.
Ke Si looked calm as he shouted, "Divine Burial!"
"Noo!"
The spears slashed through the air in a frenzied display of violence and terror, puncturing into the pyramid in a vicious and unrelenting attack. They seemed to perform a dance as they stabbed in and out of the pyramid, like dolphins swimming.
Agonizing screams pierce the night sky, alerting all nearby to an impending disaster. As the shadows danced in the darkness, the private guards of many Houses gathered before the barrier. When the screams stopped, the plaza was full of a warrior crowd who didn't dare to approach the mass of darkness.
Every soul within range was rooted in fear, unable to move or speak as they watched the macabre dance of death unfold before them. When the screams finally ceased, what remained was a scene of pure horror - a stillness that seemed to linger even after all had gone quiet. A bloody pyramid of darkness stood before the barrier.
While many of these warriors stood shocked and confused, ready to go to war with whatever dark guild was invading at night, some of the more veteran warriors had already discovered some clues. Such as a man with silvery dreadlocks wearing a tuxedo and standing fifteen meters behind the pyramid of dark forces. Not to mention the black-cloaked figure with dreadlocks standing beside the older man.
"That's the Dark Butler of House Trillwolf, Ke Si!"
"What? The strongest of the Four Houses? The same House Trillwolf who was rumored to have destroyed House Shu?"
"If that's the case, I suppose it should be the Three Houses now, right? They say some corrupt elders of House Shu colluded with a powerful enemy to target the Lord's son. The plan was thwarted, but House Shu almost pulled it off. Rumor is, Lord Trillwolf was so pissed off that he held the entire House Shu responsible for the actions of those corrupt elders."
"Weren't House Shu and House Trillwolf allied through marriage? What about Lady of the Mist, Niagara the Fair? Surely, she won't be pleased that her father and everyone else in her family were slaughtered. Could it be she had something to do with it?"
"Are you crazy? Do you want the mad dog Lord of House Trillwolf to hear us? Don't ever disrespect the medjay of death. That's none of our concern."
"I heard that Lady Niagara had been missing for years when she suddenly showed up at House Shu with a daughter. The House Lord took her in once again and changed her name from Niagara to Isis. She became the famous master, the Frozen Night, and didn't want a surname until Lord Trillwolf found her and married her."
"That's odd. Could she have been mesmerized? There are a lot of powerful voodoo masters in the West Ward. I heard the Lady of the Mist made it her business to completely ruin these voodoo masters before she went missing. I think something must have happened for her to react like that."
"Will you two shut up before you get us killed?"
As the crowd watched the current scene dumbfounded, the imperial guard arrived on the scene. When they saw the imposing and towering desolate beast mounts ridden by the calvary, the crowd immediately gave way to allow the guard through. The squad of guards' leading lieutenant dismounted and walked over to Osiris Trillwolf with a serious look on his face.
"Medjay Trillwolf," the lieutenant performed an imperial salute, his face solemn. He spoke in a soft and unhurried tone as he said, "The dark elves in the West Ward are heavy on the move. We intercepted twelve other squads and still missed this advanced team. We believe there are three more teams, and you are their target. His Majesty sent us to clean up this incident in your stead. Do you have any intel to share?"
Osiris stood tall, his eyes cold and calculating.
He knew that the dark elves were a dangerous foe, but his House was prepared for any threat. "Lieutenant, thank you for your prompt arrival. As for intel, we know very little about the dark elves. They are a secretive and elusive group with no clear motives. All we know is that they are capable of powerful magic, and they will stop at nothing to achieve their goals. As for their target, it is likely me or my family. We are the most powerful House in the West Ward, and they may see us as a threat."
The lieutenant nodded, his expression grim. "Understood, Medjay Trillwolf. We will remain vigilant and protect you and your family at all costs."
Osiris Trillwolf nodded in appreciation, his gaze shifting to Ke Si and the dark forces. "But first, we must deal with this threat. Lieutenant, I need your men to surround the area and ensure no one else is harmed. Then, I will take care of these dark guild members myself."
The lieutenant hesitated for a moment, clearly unsure if this was a wise decision. But he knew better than to question the Lord of House Trillwolf. "As you wish, Medjay Trillwolf. We will secure the perimeter and await your orders."
With that, the imperial guard moved into position, their weapons at the ready. Osiris Trillwolf took a deep breath and stepped forward, his eyes locked on Ke Si and the pyramid of darkness.
"The White Demon has grown impatient. He wishes to eliminate me before I climb any closer," Lord Osiris spoke in a very soft but flat tone, one that only the man next to him could possibly hear.
The Blue Waves Ice Demon Wolf stood calmly behind, silently observing the crowd.
"My Lord," said Ke as he half-bowed, "We are well equipped to deal with the legion of dark elves."
"Of course, this level of espionage is not something I fear. He has far more powerful means and forces at his disposal. The only question is, why hasn't he started to use them? What are you waiting for Basalt…?"
