Chapter 6: Necromantic

This was the life.

Although I dislike the fact that my exp bar seemed to not like the notion of going up faster, I have found the perfect method for grinding. I would rush out with Cursed Enhancement, aggro a fuckton of enemies. Climb the roof of a particularly tall house and rain down hell.

This method gave me a lot of juicy juicy exp and loot, plus I just had to chug the occasional mana potion and I would be fine.

Speaking of, mana, health, and stamina potions were rather common drops from the occasional chest scattered around. All except a few were rated minor which while effective wasnt a game-changer, but it healed a decent portion of my health at this point in time which was nice.

And, contrary to how it is named, the mana potions works for recovering my Cursed Energy reserves as well. And I have no idea why, maybe they came from the same source? But what use was it to question this game logic? I will only bother spending neurons on it if I am bored and have the time to.

For all I cared, the stamina potion could recover my health and I couldn't care less at this moment. Though I didn't remember any potions in DxD so maybe I could make a bank using alchemy and selling Hp pots.

...And get assassinated by the Phenex family.

*Sigh* the woes of being a genius.

This was the kind of monologue that went through my head as I spent hours throwing down cursed flames. Hell, the skill level was well over 30 at this point.

As I was raining down hell upon these heathen zombies I decided to sift through my loot for the 2 skill books I had gotten since I ended up here.

[You have acquired the skill: Poison Resistance]

Increases your resistance to all poisons by 1%

____________________________________________

While they seemed like not very good skills, that was only because of their low levels. Some skills start off well and then have a lackluster power curve. And other start badly but have a ridiculous power curve.

Take poison resistance for example. 1% poison resistance is shit. But if I leveled it up to 100 somehow...

Immunity to all poisons.

I know for a fact that there are some broken poisons in DxD. For example, if I had a dragon attribute some poisons could put me to bed even if I were lv 500 or 1000.

So I started taking poison in the smallest doses. The bloaters can drop minor poison vials so I took a drop or two of it. It tasted like liquid sewer and felt like magma but my poison resistance started rising immediately.

All the while I was dropping some supa hot fire at the zombies below. The feeling of euphoria from grinding like the old times was like no other.

I wish I had my phone with me to pass time though.

But after a while of chucking down fiery ordinance, I realized that the mobs had stopped coming and that I had defeated the boss, somehow.

It was probably a boss without any reach that got dragged by the commotion and got burnt to a crisp without being able to retaliate. And I didn't feel like confirming by going through 100 kill logs so I just walked through the portal after grabbing the loot.

[F5 Boss Floor]

It seemed like this place was the end of the dungeon. Which was good since I have been here for over several hours and I was about to get exhausted sooner than later.

The floor itself was unusual though. I was in front of a giant warehouse. I couldn't wander far off so that must be the boss arena. The game was being unusually generous and giving me plenty of time to rethink and run away.

Regardless, I wouldn't get anywhere besides back to the starting point if I start running away from the finish line. Psyching myself up I pushed open the doors of the warehouse and entered.

' Fuck. '

In the middle of the giant warehouse was a giant floating limbless torso with multiple exposed organs hanging out of its "body" including a brain in place of its head stuck to its neck. With a large disfigured humanoid face on the right side of its torso. It used its elongated exposed organs to hold itself up like stilts.

[ Zombie Devil - LV 25 (Boss) ]

A devil born from and embodying humanity's fear of zombies. It is capable of creating and maintaining a near-endless supply of undead. While the main body may not be as strong as its level suggests, its strength lies in the power of its horde.

____________________________________

Yeah, the horde is the right word considering the over at least a hundred zombies crowding the warehouse. Even better, the doors closed behind me. But even still, this was almost tailor-made for me as Undead are almost always weak to fire. And fire is one of my only spells.

In fact, that very same spell had leveled up considerably due to how much I have used it here.

Cost: 320CE

Activating my Cursed Energy Enhancement I started running around, avoiding zombies in the crowded warehouse and aggroing crowds as I ran around like a headless chicken. Of course, I wasnt running around aimlessly, I was trying to get them in an as big of a group as I could. Thankfully, the big guy in the middle wasnt getting involved for now.

Once the horde was dense enough to my liking I climbed up one of the steel beams before dispelling my aura and chugging a minor mana potion. With my mana topped off I raised my hand and cast {Cursed Flames}.

*BOOOOM!!!*

Within a second a giant ball of cursed flame, the size of a beachball got launched from my hands and landed in the middle of the horde, and exploded like a grenade, sending limbs flying everywhere and inflicting cursed flames on most of the undead as they burnt to death.

Not letting up I released another fireball before chugging another potion and shooting another.

And another.

And another.

I love cheesing games what can I say? You must take every advantage you can get. Take a mile for every inch.

Just as I prepared another ball of cursed flame the Zombie Devil moved and lashed out with one of his entrail tentacles. Jumping over the slow tentacle I dispelled the spell and activated Cursed Energy Enhancement as my body almost moved with ingrained instinct.

As soon as I was grounded I shook off the shock from the fall as another organ whip struck out toward me, I brought out Tozama and as soon as the whip reached me I cut it in half. The Zombie Devil screamed in pain and froze up and I used the opening to spring toward the main body.

It barely had a horde left and whip-like attack users are usually weaker at close range. Sidestepping I avoided another vertical whip slam. Ducking I dodged a burnt-up corpse that the devil had picked up and launched at me. Tensing up my legs I shot forward and reached the devil as it tried using its entrails to spear me.

Pushing the aura enhancement to the limits I burned through my reserves and in an impressive display of skill managed to dodge parry and cut every hit before jumping up and stabbing my knife into the devil's eyes.

*ARRRRRGH!!!*

Even more tendrils rose up to grab me but I didn't relent and tore down the knife and put a giant gash on the devil's face. Just before they reached me I pushed off with all my might as I held out my arm.

'Cursed Flames!'

Using all of my remainder cursed energy I overloaded the ball of flame as it impacted the devils gaping eysocket and blew it from inside out. Recoiling from the impact I unceremoniously fell to the ground as I was overwhelmed by notifications.

[Level up!]

[Congratculations! You have reached level 20 of Sorcerer! Awakening {Innate Cursed Technique} ]

Seeing those words on screen my eyes nearly bugged out of my eyes. Innate Cursed Technique was important to a sorcerer, to say the least. This thing would probably be the backbone of my entire class. If it sucked then my sorcerer career probably sucked too.

Sending a small prayer to Lord Helix and Lord RNGesus I opened my eyes to see what I rolled.

That's... a lot. First of all, create undead. I can live with that. It's no {Limitless} but I think it fits well with me, I can also see the irony of getting create undead in a zombie dungeon after defeating the zombie devil.

Yes... In fact, Create Undead is really good. Procuring corpses will be annoying but manageable if I can get myself a sweet sweet undead army. It must be the dream of every man at least once of leading an undying army of your fallen foes.

Necromancer is high risk high reward.

And I am not afraid of gambling.

...I am afraid of passing out in the dungeon though so... [ID Escape].

My body vanished and my bloodied self landed on my couch, staining it with blood. But I couldn't care less with how exhausted I was and the exhausted status effect couldn't be got rid of without a good rest. But first, I had some gatcha to roll. I had 4 entire tokens on me. And since my luck was good for once I started rolling in hopes of that pattern continuing.

Authors note: Your comments and interactions helps motivate me so please write what you thought about the chapter in the comments. I am open to suggestions to help improve my fics.

Also, if anyone has interesting ideas for the random gatcha I will be glad to include those ideas if I like them. You can also recommend characters for the occasional companion card mc may pull from the gatcha.
