Chapter 2917: To Kill It, First Deceive It
Below the mist was another boundless wasteland.
The ground of the wasteland appeared semi-transparent, reflecting brilliant light.
"The ground has crystallized!"
Lin Moyu knew that this crystallized ground was incredibly solid. Though not a high-grade material, its hardness surpassed most materials. Moreover, he sensed a terrifying power within the crystallized ground, making it even more solid.
Not far away stood a mountain that pierced into the clouds.
Most of the mountain was shrouded in clouds, with about 10,000 meters visible from the clouds to the ground.
Lin Moyu realized that the barren rocky ground he had traversed earlier was actually a mountain range - an enormous range spanning millions of miles wide.
Such a massive mountain range was rare even on the Origin Continent.
Furthermore, the entire range had no undulations, as if leveled by some powerful force.
At the base of the range, Lin Moyu saw a giant beast.
The beast was over 2,000 meters tall and more than 10,000 meters long.
It resembled a massive rhinoceros, its body gleaming black.
Behind it were six tails, each terrifyingly thick.
The tails were trapped in the ground, their full length unknown.
Its four hooves were also trapped in the crystal ground, unable to move.
Its head faced the mountain range, less than 10 meters away - practically pressed against it.
This terrifying beast was trapped here, unable to escape.
The moment Lin Moyu saw the beast, he felt a deep sense of disgust from the depths of his soul.
This disgust surpassed that for divine pets, no weaker than for extraterrestrial gods.
It showed that the Great Dao's aversion to it was no less than for extraterrestrial gods.
"Could it be an extraterrestrial god too?" Lin Moyu mused silently, unsure if extraterrestrial gods only had one form.
However, it differed greatly from the extraterrestrial gods he had seen before.
But he was certain that killing it would earn him a Great Dao reward.
Lin Moyu craved the Great Dao reward, but he didn't act immediately.
Though trapped, the beast before him wasn't completely immobile.
At least its upper body could still move. Acting rashly could be dangerous.
Moreover, he needed to figure out the source of the earlier gray wind and if it was related to this creature.
Boom!
The heartbeat sound rang out again. Lin Moyu sensed it coming from beneath the ground.
Then he saw the base of the mountain range in front of the beast turning to crystal in rhythm with the heartbeats.
Not only was the range crystallizing, it was also moving towards the beast.
If the range moved onto the beast and fully crystallized, the beast would be trapped inside forever.
With each heartbeat, the range inched closer to the beast, very slowly - only about a centimeter per beat.
The beast let out an angry roar, then thrust its entire body forward.
Given its enormous size, a few meters was just a tiny tremor.
The beast rammed the mountain range with the sharp horn on its head.
Boom!
The range shook violently, forcefully pushed back several centimeters - undoing the distance it had just moved.
Moreover, the range in front of the beast seemed to grow slightly larger.
During the impact, terrifying power burst from the beast's horn, turning into gray wind that swept through the entire range via the cracks.
One collision forcefully pushed the range back to its original position. The previously crystallized areas also returned to normal.
Lin Moyu finally understood the source of the gray wind - it came from this beast.
He also learned the origin of the cracks.
The cracks in the range were created by this beast's repeated collisions over countless years.
That's why the cracks grew larger closer to the beast.
The range was very solid. Even Dao Sovereign level power could hardly damage it.
But the beast could crack this million-mile wide range through repeated collisions.
Lin Moyu understood - this was a battle between the heart and the beast.
This heart - the one the King of the Boundary Sea wanted him to retrieve - was trying to seal the beast.
The beast was constantly resisting to avoid being completely sealed.
"What on earth is this beast!"
Lin Moyu stared at the beast, unsure of its origins.
Suddenly, the beast turned its head to look at Lin Moyu.
"Not good!"
Lin Moyu's heart trembled as he immediately retreated.
But he was a step too late. A gray light shot from the beast's horn, instantly passing through Lin Moyu's body.
Lin Moyu had no chance to resist. He petrified on the spot, falling from the air onto the crystal ground and shattering to pieces.
The beast turned its head back as if swatting a fly, not even bothering to look at Lin Moyu again.
Purple light flashed as Lin Moyu revived.
After reviving, Lin Moyu quickly retreated tens of thousands of miles to distance himself from the beast.
This beast was too dangerous. Its attacks were unreasonable and impossible to defend against.
The beast noticed Lin Moyu hadn't died and turned its head again.
With its body trapped, it could only turn its head partway.
As Lin Moyu retreated, he deliberately adjusted his angle to the beast's rear blind spot.
The beast had eyes on both sides of its head. Now turned, it watched Lin Moyu with one eye but didn't attack again.
Lin Moyu also watched the beast, showing no fear.
Fear was useless, and worry pointless. Now he needed to figure out how to kill this creature.
Unlike the previously trapped and helpless extraterrestrial god, this one wouldn't be easy to kill.
After staring at each other for a while, the beast turned its head back, seemingly too lazy to bother with an ant like Lin Moyu.
Lin Moyu also stopped watching the beast and looked at the ground instead.
After some searching, he saw a bright red heart in the semi-transparent crystal ground.
The heart was enormous, clearly not belonging to any ordinary creature.
It was beating weakly there, as if gathering strength.
When it accumulated enough power, it would beat vigorously, crystallizing the range and moving it towards the beast.
Moments later, the heartbeat sounded again. The heart burst with powerful energy, moving the range towards the beast.
The beast also exerted full force, heavily ramming the range to push it back.
Though pushed back, the beast seemed somewhat strained. Lin Moyu sensed its aura weakening slightly.
But the beast recovered quickly, regaining strength in no time.
The heart was similar, greatly weakened after beating vigorously but recovering shortly after.
Lin Moyu observed this. "Perhaps when the beast charges the range is my opportunity."
"But it likely won't be so easy. This beast isn't stupid. If it senses I'm a threat, it will kill me first even if the range gets closer."
"To kill it, I must first deceive it!"
