Chapter 101: Report
Kiba sighed deeply as he walked
side by side with Hirohiko and Yukina on the road from the village to their
meeting place. Both Hirohiko and Yukina looked concerned.
It was noon on the fourth day.
They had returned to the village from the examination room and were heading to
the meeting place.
This was Kushina's arrangement.
She would wait for them at the assembly point. According to Kushina's
instructions before the final test, if they couldn't pass the Chunin exam to
become Chunin, then... it would be the end.
From Kiba's point of view, they
couldn't become Chunin, but it was actually Kushina's fault.
The reason their Chunin
qualifications were retained instead of passing directly wasn't due to poor
performance but a lack of mission experience.
That's right, the Third Hokage was
concerned about them becoming Chunin without mission experience. After all,
becoming a Chunin means they are already ninja capable of independent missions.
It signifies graduating from being a Sensei Jonin and having the basic strength
to perform tasks alone.
After becoming Chunin, they
wouldn't remain a fixed team. Depending on the tasks, they might be assigned to
other teams, forming a team with other Chunin or even Jonin, but this isn't
permanent. It depends on the tasks.
Kiba, Hirohiko, and Yukina's
cooperation was seamless, a key factor in winning battles. However, no matter
how good their cooperation was, it couldn't grant privileges. Depending on the
situation, the task's nature, or special requirements, they might be broken up
and form a team with others.
Moreover, Chunin begin to handle
C-level and B-level tasks. According to task classification, C-level tasks
might cause injury, such as personal guards, catching beasts, and crusades.
B-level tasks involve battles between ninjas, such as bodyguards, espionage
operations, and assassinations.
These tasks are fundamentally
different from Genin's D-level missions, which don't involve direct combat and
are trivial matters like catching pets.
B and C-level missions already
endanger the lives of ninjas.
They had no mission experience.
Although their test performance was eye-catching, and their cooperation
seamless, B and C-level missions still required mission experience.
The original mechanism of one
upper ninja with three lower ninjas ensured the growth of lower ninjas and the
accumulation of task experience.
Because they performed so well,
the Third Hokage guessed they wouldn't rashly become Chunin, lest they die due
to lack of experience. After all, the exam is just an exam, and there are too
many variables in actual tasks. Making them Chunin without mission experience
would be unwise.
The Third Hokage had begun to
protect them as seeds. The Chunin qualification reservation was a form of
protection for Kiba's team.
Tsunade explained this Chunin
qualification, meaning Kiba's team had the qualifications of Chunin but lacked
mission experience. When they gained enough mission experience, they wouldn't
need to participate in the Chunin exam again and would be directly promoted to
Chunin.
It's like a safety net.
The lack of mission experience was
because Kushina never took them on missions. Generally, ninjas must accept
D-level missions, but since Kushina became their teacher, they had undergone
devilish training. Kiba almost forgot ninjas needed to accept D-level missions.
Therefore, they couldn't become
Chunin for the time being, and it was Kushina's fault.
In response, Kiba sighed again.
Should we talk about this? No, let's not. If Kushina
hears it's her fault, she'll probably beat me harder.
However, she may blame herself when we can't see
her.
"Hirohiko, Yukina," Kiba
suddenly said as they walked out of the village on the path to the assembly
area.
"What's the matter?"
Hirohiko asked.
"What's wrong, Kiba?"
Yukina also asked.
"We'll be beaten obediently
later. Don't say anything, okay?" Kiba said.
"Yes," Hirohiko answered
briefly.
"I know," Yukina also
nodded.
Obviously, Hirohiko and Yukina
thought the same as Kiba. They didn't want Kushina to blame herself.
"Yeah!" Kiba smiled,
stretched, and said, "Then, let's speed up. Finish the beating early, and
then go home to sleep. I'm exhausted."
"Yeah," Hirohiko and
Yukina smiled and followed Kiba, speeding up.
After crossing the path, they saw
Kushina's figure in the distance. Uzumaki Kushina stood in the assembly area
with her chest folded, waiting for them.
She soon saw Kiba, and her quiet
eyes fell on them.
Almost instantly, Kiba understood.
Kushina already knew the exam
result. Although prepared, Kiba's mouth twitched, and he subconsciously touched
the top of his head.
Uzumaki Kushina watched them
approach, but her mind was receiving a message from her shadow clone.
That stinky old man of the Third Hokage!
She cursed in her heart.
Looking at the proud disciples who
stopped in front of her, she took a deep breath.
Kiba, Hirohiko, and Yukina looked
at Uzumaki Kushina, the corners of their mouths twitching.
Very angry! Knowing we didn't become Chunin,
SenseiKushina is very dissatisfied with retaining Chunin exam qualifications!
They thought simultaneously.
"How was the result?"
Uzumaki Kushina forced a smile, very reluctantly.
This forced smile, she's absolutely very angry!
The three of them swallowed in
unison.
No, I'm not a child like Hirohiko and Yukina. Why am
I so scared facing angry Kushina...
Kiba suddenly thought but didn't
ease his nervousness, knowing he was going to be beaten.
"Chunin... Chunin
qualifications are reserved..." Kiba said hesitantly.
He looked up at Kushina's face,
and at a glance, Kiba clearly saw Kushina's smiling face was even more
reluctant, raising her hand.
Coming!
Seeing Uzumaki Kushina's action,
Kiba, Hirohiko, and Yukina lowered their heads, gritted their teeth, and closed
their eyes together, resigned to being beaten.
However, the expected pain didn't
come. Instead, they were gently held by a pair of gentle hands.
"You did a great job. I'm
sorry, it's all the teacher's fault you didn't advance to Chunin."
Uzumaki Kushina leaned over and
gently pulled her proud disciples into her arms, eyes closed tightly, tone
softer than ever before.
These three knew they didn't become Chunin because
of no mission experience, so they have the qualification to keep this Chunin.
Are you afraid I'll feel guilty, so you didn't say
anything?
The three in Kushina's arms opened
their eyes wide, then slowly closed them, warm smiles at the corners of their
mouths.
"It's okay,
SenseiKushina."
Kiba smiled slightly.
Hirohiko and Yukina also nodded
repeatedly.
Hearing this, Uzumaki Kushina
smiled slightly, and her hands clenched even tighter.
However, Kushina's hand tightened,
and Kiba, Hirohiko, and Yukina's mouths twitched simultaneously.
It's so tight... I can hardly breathe!
"Wait... I can't breathe,
SenseiKushina! Your grip... it's too strong... I'm suffocating!"
Uzumaki Kushina was taken aback.
When she let go, all three of them coughed lightly.
Gotta be saved!
They were sweating profusely.
"SenseiKushina... next
time..."
Kiba took a few breaths, looked up
at Kushina, but his entire face stiffened.
Kushina had a "tick"
character on her forehead, and her hands made a "clack" sound.
"Oh? My strange strength...
Kiba..." Uzumaki Kushina pulled a forced smile from the corner of her
mouth and stared fiercely at Kiba.
Kiba's mouth twitched, pulling out
a smile uglier than crying.
It's over, this aunt is completely angry!
