Chapter 59: Hirohiko's
Battle
"Good job!" Uzumaki
Kushina, who had sneaked into the auditorium, quietly clenched her fists, a
smile spreading across her face.
Meanwhile, Kiba in the arena
rubbed his fists. Although he managed to blow up the water bullet with a
well-placed punch, the impact of the explosion had reverberated through his
hand, causing a dull ache.
I'll have Yukina check it later.
If it's injured, that could spell trouble. But in the heat of the moment, it
was the best option I had.
As he watched Mizutani being
carried away by the medical team, Kiba couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
In the world of ninjas, strength
isn't always the deciding factor. Mizutani's water release techniques were
formidable, but he wasn't particularly strong in other areas. Despite being
better than him, he nearly outmaneuvered me.
The power of those water
bullets... if one had hit me, it would have been bad.
Feeling the pain in his hand, Kiba
could gauge the force of the water bullet.
With Minato Namikaze declaring his
victory, Kiba left the arena and headed toward the spectator seats.
"That child... he's only
seven, and he defeated the eleven-year-old Mizutani. Amazing!" the
audience murmured.
"Hey, isn't that kid the son
of that traitor?"
"What? Him? I didn't
recognize him at first."
"Yes, the traitor's
son."
As soon as Kiba's identity as the
"son of the traitor" was mentioned, the initial admiration turned to
disgust.
"My son lost to the traitor's
son, Mizutani! I'll make sure he trains hard when we get home!" This was
likely Mizutani's father, judging by his Chunin attire and forehead protector.
Angered by his son's defeat, he planned to train his son rigorously.
"Losing is one thing, but
losing to that traitor's son..." Mizutani's mother, a gentle-looking
woman, couldn't refute her husband's anger.
"My brother lost to that
traitor's son. It's embarrassing," added a petite, cute girl beside them,
likely Mizutani's younger sister, licking a lollipop.
In the ordinary auditorium,
Uzumaki Kushina felt the disgust emanating from the surrounding spectators.
Frowning, she thought:
I need to ask Minato about Kiba's
father. It happened seven years ago, and we were quite young then. Maybe Minato
knows something.
Kiba ignored the discussions and
walked toward Hirohiko and Yukina. Other participants looked at him in
disbelief.
At that moment, Hirohiko and
Yukina frowned, obviously displeased with the surrounding conversations. As
Kiba approached, they tried their best to smile and said,
"Congratulations."
Hirohiko maintained his poker
face, and Yukina's rare smile quickly faded.
Are they trying to comfort me?
Kiba could discern their emotions
from their usually expressionless faces. They had spent so much time together
since graduation, training and fighting side by side.
Knowing what they were thinking,
Kiba smiled and said, "Compared to that, Yukina, can you check my
hand?"
"Can't you be more
careful?" Yukina rarely complained but activated her Byakugan to examine
his hand.
"How is it?" Kiba raised
his hand.
"It's fine, just rest,"
Yukina replied, relieved.
"That's good." Kiba
sighed in relief, then returned the ninja bag to Hirohiko, saying, "Sorry,
I used up the only two explosive tags."
"It's okay," Hirohiko
said.
At that moment, the big screen
jumped again, attracting everyone's attention. Kiba, Hirohiko, and Yukina all
looked at the screen.
The first row of names came to a
quick halt.
Hirohiko Uchiha.
Kiba blinked, looked at Hirohiko,
and said, "What a coincidence. I was first, and now it's you."
Hirohiko nodded solemnly, agreeing
with Kiba's words, then looked at Yukina and said, "Yukina, can I borrow
some shurikens?"
Yukina handed some shurikens from
her ninja bag to Hirohiko. "Good luck."
I should save up for a ninja bag.
I can't keep borrowing from Hirohiko.
Kiba thought.
"Then I'll go," Hirohiko
said, adjusting his ninja bag.
Kiba nodded and patted him on the
shoulder. "Good luck."
The names in the second row
stopped.
Shiga Taketake.
After Hirohiko left, Yukina leaned
closer and said, "This Shiga Taketake is good at shuriken and physical
fitness."
Yukina's wind-blown clothes gently
brushed against Kiba, her hair and fragrance carried by the breeze. Kiba
nodded. "No one can match Hirohiko in shuriken. There's no suspense in
this match."
Yukina agreed.
Their eyes fell on the field, and
the participants' conversations reached their ears.
"Bad luck for Shiga. Facing
Uchiha Hirohiko after seeing his shuriken skill with Muzi's shadow clone
technique... No one could handle that."
"How did he do it? My dad
isn't as skilled with shuriken."
"Many ninjas in the village
aren't as good as him."
"Tch, it's just because of
the Sharingan. If I had it, I'd be as strong."
"Yeah, anyone with Sharingan
can become that strong."
Listening to these discussions,
Kiba sneered slightly.
Sharingan? Is that why you think
Hirohiko is strong? Do you know how many hours he practices shuriken daily?
While you're having fun and
enjoying parental doting, he's practicing.
Don't kid yourselves!
This guy works harder than any of
you, harder than any of your fathers, harder than most ninjas in the village.
That's why he's so strong.
Kiba looked at Hirohiko in the
field. Shiga Taketake had also entered, and both sides stood still.
"The second trial of the
Chunin Exam, the second competition, start!
