Chapter 38: Pain Of Betrayal I

........

Whatever Isaac did must've been a failure as his arm still found itself flying high in the air, splattering blood everywhere... An uninvited intruder joined the battlefield.

It all happened in a split second, making them freeze in place as Isaac's arm slowly fell to the ground by their side, slowly forming a pool of blood.

There was a long silence as the participants eyed each other, or maybe it all happened in less than a second as the adrenaline rushing through their veins made it so the world appeared slow in their eyes.

It was especially difficult for Ay to comprehend what had happened, the wound in his chest still stinging, although the frost on it did a good job of stopping the bleeding.

In fact, the frost released by Isaac did too good of a job as it obstructed Ay's blood flow, making him a little lightheaded.

It did, however, still help him in this case for when he was punched away, the blade opened his chest more, leaving a much bigger injury.

However, no amount of lightheadedness would make him ignore the bleeding in his throat, the wound left by Fugaku.

However, the injury wasn't too heavy, not when Fugaku's goal was to slice his throat off. There was supposed to be a stream of blood pouring from it.

There wasn't, and his head was also intact. He wasn't decapitated by Isaac's blade as he expected... Ay realized that he was saved by the uninvited intruder, but at what cost?

Ay could see the cost, and it made someone like him shed tears for in his sight was his father, the Third Raikage.

The Third Raikage was a very tall, dark-skinned man with a largely muscular and well-defined build. He had a full head of white hair which flowed into his back along with a long beard.

The man's body spoke of war and endless battles, embroiled with scars. However, most of the scars seemed very recent.

The reason is no doubt the endless attacks of the surrounding countries, something the Land of Lightning was still suffering against.

Its surrounding countries seemed to very much hate it to the core. How could they not? The Land of Lightning is one of the most fierce and violent countries among the five great shinobi countries.

They must've suffered under it for long enough that they wouldn't be able to stay still unless they made it suffer too, the scars on his body were proof of that.

And indeed, the Third Raikage in the story died after facing an opposing force of ten thousand shinobi single-handedly for three consecutive days.

Isaac's existence seemed to have changed things as the monster appeared before him, although he still seemed to have suffered under the enemy, leaving him badly wounded.

That's not why Ay shed tears though, and it certainly wasn't because of Fugaku's Kunai, the latter managing to react quickly enough to target the Third Raikage with his Kunai.

However, even though his Kunai was aflame, it barely left a scratch on the monster that's the Third Raikage, the latter's defense being leagues above Ay's.

What left Ay in tears was Isaac's which was deep, deep, so deep in the Third Raikage's chest, managing to break his defense by the simple use of the lightning element's weakness, the wind element.

Of course, things weren't so simple, not just any wind technique could break the Raikage's defense, thus why Isaac's hand was surrounded by a rotating wind, forming a spinning spear.

The technique works similarly to drills, converting rotational motion into mechanical work with precision and speed, concentrating the force at the tip of the drill bit which creates a localized pressure point.

Isaac used that same mechanism along with a trigger mechanism on the edge of his elbow, responsible for pushing his hand directly toward the target at an absurd speed, all of which is then converted into force.

The Third Raikage used something similar to slice off Isaac's arm as the former's hand was surrounded with lightning, condensed to the extreme, thus forming a sharp deadly blade.

Unfortunately, the Third Raikage didn't slice off Isaac's head, and oh how much he wished he could, and he would've been able to if Isaac didn't utter those words, Swift Release.

Swift Release is a bloodline limit that can push one's speed to the limit, yet even then, Isaac couldn't completely evade the Third Raikage's attack.

Isaac realized that a sacrifice was necessary, thus he allowed the Third Raikage to slash the second best option, the arm that was holding Ay in place.

Isaac didn't mind losing an arm if it meant heavily injuring the enemy and escaping death while the Third Raikage also didn't mind getting injured if it meant saving his son.

Therefore, the scene in Ay's sight, only becoming more depressing as the Third Raikage opened his mouth to say, "Ay, leave. Protect our home. I have high hopes for you, so be greater than I ever was, and make our home greater than I ever could... Go, Now!!!!!"

The Third Raikage said that he had high hopes for him and he was right for Ay caught the hint in his words, protect home... Without a shred of hesitation.

No matter how much hatred and vengeance was on his mind, the thing that mattered most of all was home.

And just the action of running away made him realize that staying would be pointless, breathing heavily and never having felt weaker as if he could pass out at any moment.

'What a monster,' Was the Third Raikage's thoughts as he eyed Isaac. He himself knows just how fast he was, yet Isaac not only managed to react, but he also counterattack, leaving him with such a deadly injury.

It all took a split second, something that shouldn't be possible with the usual techniques, Isaac's wind spinning spear however was used almost instantaneously.

The Third Raikage knows of Isaac, of course he does, the genius of the Fire, an anomaly that attracted his attention long ago.

However, what gave birth to endless killing intent in the Raikage's eyes was the fact that Isaac was not only a genius in technology and the such, but also in Ninjutsu and war.

The Killing intent was seen clearly by Isaac and Fugaku, and it's what finally broke the stalemate as Fugaku's mouth released what he had been holding back for so long, a sea of condensed flames.

It all coincided with the lightning surrounding the Raikage turning darker until it became completely black before detonating into a flurry of destructive lightning.

Most important of all, at some point in time, the Raikage's hand found itself tightly grasping Isaac's only remaining arm, making sure to keep Isaac's hand deep in his chest.

"Got you, boy!" Isaac heard the man's words, the latter grinning brightly despite his certain death, but if he was to do, he's gonna take someone with him, that being Isaac.
