Chapter 30: Hypocrisy II

........

"Sometimes a hypocrite is nothing more than a man in the process of changing." ~ Brandon Sanderson

Isaac did truly felt like a hypocrite. He wants to fix this broken world, to perfect it, yet he was participating in one of the things that made it so broken, war.

War came with death, more death, and even more death, thus wasting potential seedlings that could potentially help with the advancement of humanity.

Yet Isaac found that he couldn't care less about the individuals before him as he watched blood splatter everywhere, the ground dyed red like a bloody river.

It was almost as if he had something against ninjas for he wouldn't allow the same thing to happen to the common people.

In fact, Isaac made a lot of preparations wherever he could to minimize the effect of war on the common people.

Isaac believes in the common people more for they are the ones who will produce doctors, scientists, researchers, and teachers.

That's what the world needs, not braindead mindless ninjas who are almost impossible to change.

Isaac realized that a while ago, the word ninja is too ingrained in the minds of the people of this world, and its meaning to them will never change, just a bunch of mindless lapdogs.

That's how he sees them and why he despises the word Shinobi. However, that's not why he swung his blade yet again, leaving behind a trail of blood.

Isaac won't let such a feeling get in the way of his pursuit of perfection. He swung his blade for the cause.

Isaac also allowed this war to happen for the cause. Indeed, this war happened because he allowed it.

Certainly, without him in this, the Third Shinobi War would've still taken place, but his existence is variable, making it so that the war is optional, something he can forbid if he so wishes.

All Isaac would need is to run the script for several countries to silently change hands, and he will basically be able to call the shots.

However, Isaac hasn't done that just yet. The only country he has full control over is the Fire Nation and for a good reason.

That reason is also why this war had to happen, and why Isaac didn't mind his blade cutting through the enemies like a knife through butter.

"Tend to the injured, clean up, and prepare to head back," Uchiha Fugaku's instructions resounded as he himself beheaded the last enemy in the camp.

The Uchihas got to work, very well organized, most of them at least. The kids, on the other hand, were too traumatized to do much, bathed in the blood of their enemies.

In fact, most of the Uchihas were bathed in blood, looking horrifying as if demons from hell, leaving the likes of Itachi and Shisui even more traumatized.

It was an arduous night, after all, battle after battle as the enemy acted precisely according to Isaac's script, thus why the Uchihas started looking at him differently.

"You studied the previous wars?" Fugaku asked Isaac in quite the strange tone.

"Yeah," Isaac nodded, "Why?"

"Nothing, it's just that you're very good at this for someone who wants peace," Fugaku remarked.

"Hm?" Isaac was somewhat confused, "Was my plan really that good? We basically just baited their reinforcements and ambushed them, letting a few escape so we could bait more reinforcements. Can't everybody think of that?"

"Not talking about that part... Never mind," Fugaku shook his head, too used to Isaac's weird brain, "Let's go back."

Isaac's plan was at first to simply spark conflict between the villages of Frost and Waterfall. However, plans can not keep up with the changes.

The village of Waterfall acted in contrast to his prediction, already deciding to retreat upon hearing of the arrival of the Uchihas.

Therefore, Isaac suggested to Fugaku a simpler plan, still attacking their food supply, but this time to attract reinforcements.

Then there were two options, either attacking the enemy camp or ambushing the reinforcement, depending on which is easiest.

The last part of the plan was even simpler, letting a few individuals from the enemy reinforcements escape to take the information of their attack back to the camp.

All would the Uchihas have to do then is wait for how the enemy would react, only if they reacted how Isaac predicted would the Uchihas attack the enemy camp.

And what Isaac wanted them to do was send more reinforcements, something they would never do after the previous ambush... Unless the information delivered to them wasn't consistent with reality.

The ninjas of the Frost who escaped the ambush must've had a problem with their memories because what they told their commander was entirely different from reality.

What was the commander supposed to do when they told him that they'd been ambushed by the ninjas of the Waterfall village and that they took most of the enemy ninjas with them to the afterlife?

Thus, everything went according to the script, and Isaac wasn't surprised as things only went so smoothly because the Sharingan is so broken.

"Did you see it? I thought Isaac was only good at inventing things,"

"I did. I also thought that, but even though I heard he's very kind, he's quite cruel in war."

"I wonder what he shows them that causes them to turn on their companions?"

"Must be something very cruel. I mean, did you see how crazy they act, and how mentally broken they become?"

"It's kind of scary, isn't it? How he can so easily mess with their minds to break their mental and moral before the battle even begins."

Many Uchihas found it in themselves to whisper to each other even in such a depressive atmosphere, making it clear what Fugaku was talking about, the cruelty of Isaac's methods.

Isaac's methods and use of illusion were quite cruel which wasn't usually something to pay attention to in war, but this is Isaac we are talking about, one of the kindest people in Konoha, at least in their view.

Therefore, seeing this side of him was abnormal, especially with him leaving behind a trail of heads and pools of blood wherever he passed.

However, that actually wasn't something that would deter any Uchiha. In fact, they were even prouder of him, admiring him more for in their mind, that's what a Uchiha should be like.

Isaac seemingly didn't hear the whispers of his people, too focused on tending to the injured.

The dead of the enemy were left to rot. The dead of the Uchiha were grieved for only minutes before they were sealed in sealing scrolls.

Isaac could see many new blood eyes. Many people died but those who lived only had a fraction of their sanity with them.

You never truly leave the war, Isaac remembered such a saying, making him realize why the likes of Madara became the way they are, fighting pointless wars.

However, Isaac had to wonder to himself, what will the future empire he's designing be like? How different will it be?

Isaac imagines it to be an empire of the stars, seeking endless expansion and progress, thus by that virtue, wars will take place, especially with the existence of alien civilizations like the Otsutsuki.

Therefore, Isaac had to wonder, just how much of a hypocrite is he? Someone who pursues a greater goal and doesn't mind imperfection to reach it? This is what the war is all about after all, a greater goal.
