LET THE CHAPTER BEGIN
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
"Yo, Aki!" Kaito called out, his grin as wide as ever. "Watch me nail it this time!"
It had to be the thousandth time Kaito had said that since the training began, but this time felt different. He'd been steadily improving with each attempt, and his confidence grew along with his progress.
Without waiting for a response, Kaito marched forward with determination. Reaching the base of the mountain, he planted his feet firmly on the rough stone surface and channeled chakra into his soles.
His movements were more focused now. His feet stuck to the rock with confidence.
Kaito started walking, his pace quickly accelerating. Just like Ryuu had done earlier, his walk turned into a jog, and soon he was in a full sprint, scaling the mountain with impressive speed.
Traversing the terrain with his feet stuck firmly to the rocky wall, Kaito managed to clime eight tenth of the way before his focus faltered control over chakra wavered.
And with a yelp, he lost his grip and plunged into the water below.
SPLASH.
By now, Kaito had gotten used to the sensation of being submerged. He surfaced quickly, sputtering, and pushed himself to the water surface platform Aki was maintaining with his massive chakra pool and control for hours.
Aki sighed, watching him haul himself up. "Alright, let's wrap this up for today."
He'd expected the three of them to master the climb by now, but it seemed Kaito and Sayuri still had a little more to go.
Earlier, Aki had Ryuu tie a rope from the top of the mountain, its end dangling down to the seven-tenths mark.
The idea was to use it to finish the climb so they can go home and Aki can climb right after not needing to be on water surface to maintain the safe zone he had been holding until now.
Giving hope with rope was very effective with Sayuri who surprisingly managed to climb to the top without needing it.
The idea with adding in the rope was for children to take it if they faltered near the end i.e. at seven tenth of the way or further up.
The rope was pretty effective for Sayuri as she was ready to grab it any time while running on the mountain side, but managed to climb all the way.
Kaito, on the other hand, refused the rope at first, stubbornly determined to climb without its aid. After three attempts, three spectacular splashed and Aki's threat to going ahead without him, he finally relented.
Aki was ready with a quip the moment Kaito reached the top. "I thought you said you didn't need the rope?" he teased, barely suppressing a grin. "You gave up pretty quick there, buddy."
"SHUT UP!" Kaito shouted, his voice laced with frustration. His face flushed red, a mixture of embarrassment and exhaustion, and the water still dripping off him didn't help his case.
Aki couldn't hold it in anymore. He burst into laughter, his voice echoing across the cliffside. "Hahahaha! You should've seen your face, man!"
Ryuu, ever the silent observer, smirked coolly, while Sayuri joined in with her own giggles, her earlier nerves forgotten.
Kaito glared at them all, though the redness in his face betrayed more embarrassment than anger. "S-stop it!" he stammered, trying and failing to keep a straight face.
After a few more moments of laughter, Aki finally calmed down, wiping a tear from the corner of his eye. "Alright, alright. We'll stop messing with you—for now."
With a clap of his hands, Aki gathered their attention again. "Good work today. We'll pick up where we left off tomorrow."
He paused for a moment, looking at each of them with a grin. "Keep this up, and training's going to be a lot more fun."
Kaito, still fuming, muttered something under his breath about "next time," but even he couldn't hide the small smile tugging at his lips.
"Time for lunch" with these words Aki accompanied his friends and students for a hearty meal before going for his own training.
Aki could be found at 3rd peak whenever he was up for a training.
"Tenso no Jutsu" Aki weaved the ram hand sign for the technique. Aki was already subtle in performing the techniques without calling out the jutsu names anymore during battle.
(Narrator: I do it so it is easy for readers
A/N: good job)
'Tomorrow's gonna be fun' Aki grinned just thinking about the fun he will have tomorrow after his three friends pass the mountain climb walking.
The empty scroll he cast the technique at was engulfed in blinding light and moved slightly before the lights fizzled out again. Technique had failed once more.
Aki would not let that deter him. He believed that the failure was mother of success and continued grinding the technique.
"Sixty-seven," Aki noted the failure in his notepad and was ready to try again.
"Tenso No Jutsu" hand sign Ram was weaved again and the light once again enveloped the empty scroll and the scroll disappeared.
BAAAM.
Before Aki could react, he was hit by the scroll on his cheek and got thrown from the railing he was sitting onto, plunging directly into the water with the empty scroll following him after floating in the air for a second for a second.
"I'm SUCH A BIG IDIOT" Aki shouted to the skies once out of the water. He used to be very cautious when he first came to this world, was he losing his own character to idiocy?
Taking this as a lesson, Aki would once again take care of things to the max and leave no way for such an incident to repeat a second time.
"Idiot. Idiot. Idiot" Aki roasted himself thrice after running back up.
Sigh.
Aki took a deep breath and exhaled it to calm himself to try again. Tenso no jutsu wasn't random like hitting yourself in the face.
The jutsu was supposed to send objects and people, if they can survive the journey, over the long distance like teleportation and it was faster than Raikage himself.
There is no other way Raikage would treat is as transport if it was slower than himself, especially during the war.
"Tenso no jutsu" the light once again surrounded the scroll; this time it traveled till it was off the railing before light fizzled out and scroll fell towards the water below.
Aki reacted in time and ran after it activating lightning chakra mode and boosting his speed further with every related jutsu in repertoire.
Aki caught up to the scroll half-way down the mountain and ran back up.
One of his students and a friend, Kaito, had just arrived to the third peak for a question as Aki had already told them his spot in case, they wanted to ask anything, witnessed the scene of Aki using LCM and disappear.
Aki returned to his spot in a jiffy and noticed Kaito standing there. "Yo! Kaito when did you come here?"
"Just a second ago when you used Raikage-sama's jutsu" Kaito answered in excitement, "Are you training to be the next Raikage?"
According to Kaito's knowledge only the Raikage of the time inherits this jutsu. So, he raised the question as soon as he saw that jutsu.
"Not quite" Aki chuckled at the question, "I don't think this jutsu is related to rank of Raikage. It's just a B-rank jutsu and I started learning it without assistance of my father."
"Oh? Damn. I thought my friend is gonna be next Raikage" Kaito scratched his head while replying and continued. "Wait… do you not want to become the Raikage? I thought everyone wanted to do it"
"Raikage is kind of the strongest ninja of the village. Do you think a genius like you can't become one?"
"When exactly did you get so smart" Aki asked Kaito doubtfully, "Becoming Raikage is easy, I should surpass my father in a year or two at maximum."
"I've always been smart, you just noticed," Kaito shouted back in protest before Aki continued.
"Sure."
"But that's beside the point, tell me did you come to ask a question?" Aki asked getting back to the topic.
"I just wanted to ask…" to play Kaito swallowed the last two words back and told Aki his second goal, "Can you go to the water surface with me? Continue doing what you are, I want to continue training so we can start tomorrow."
"Oh?" Aki asked in a teasing tone, these words successfully got his attention.
"You can do whatever you were doing I don't wanna disturb your training or anything—" Kaito started panicking.
"Let's go" Aki grinned back while interrupting Kaito, Aki dragged him along and took the leap of faith.
"YEEAAAAAHHH" Kaito shouted mid-air.
'Why are you enjoying it, I wanted to see you go Aaaargh or something'
They landed on water and Aki resumed his training while also maintaining the safe area he usually created.
The duo stopped training once sun dipped below horizon and call it a day. Of course, Aki would still train after dinner till he is finally ready to sleep.
The day soon shifted and it was the time for Aki to meet his students again. Just like what happened yesterday, Aki took them to the foot of the 3rd peak and they started climbing mountain again.
Ryuu was allowed to train near in the area covered by reinforced water till Kaito got mountain walking consistently.
Kaito was the only one who would fall six out of ten times he climbed by the time a couple of hours had passed.
The only girl in the group, Sayuri, had been able to do it very consistently only failing once in ten climbs which was soon turned into 10/10.
They made Aki satisfied with their progress.
"Now that everyone is ready let me say a few things," Aki clapped and gathered attention to himself, "We will soon be doing ninjutsu training so before we even begin, I have some words to say"
"First of all, the final goal for mastering ninjutsu should be to not need the hand signs anymore for any of your jutsu. It is at that level of mastery you need to consider yourself passable as ninjas."
"Otherwise, you are never going to beat me." Aki chuckled while looking at Ryuu whose eyes shone at the words 'beat me', "A ninja fights dirty. Deception is the key to battle. Dupe your opponent into thinking you are going to use one move while you use the other one."
"So, before you reach the level of using hand signs no more, make the minor goal of using deceptive hand signs mixed in with the real ones and use them to deceive your opponents."
All 3 of his students were listening to Aki super attentively and their eyes shone anticipating learning ninjutsu from Aki.
"Now let's train to improve chakra control further." Aki smiled, "Time for water walking."
"DAMN YOU!" Kaito shouted at Aki in frustration.
"oh" Sayuri just did a disappointed 'oh'.
Ryuu felt like ignoring Aki from now on.
