"What a coincidence, I really didn't expect to meet you here."
"Indeed, quite a coincidence."
Upon seeing Yaneko and Shikamaru, Kaito approached them with a smile. Yaneko just shrugged slightly, seeming neither enthusiastic nor resistant.
Kaito had long been accustomed to her demeanor. Besides, his current focus was mainly on Shikamaru.
In addition to the original characters like Naruto, Sasuke, and Kakashi, who have distinctive personalities, there are also various supporting characters that are equally likable.
Nara Shikamaru is one of those Kaito particularly likes. This guy seems somewhat similar to Jiraiya.
Both appear unreliable on ordinary days, but they are indeed the most trustworthy people in critical times.
This slightly contradictory personality creates their unparalleled charisma. Furthermore, Shikamaru's future achievements are staggering.
Not only does he marry the sister of the Kazekage, but he himself also becomes the Minister of Administration, succeeding his father's position.
Of course, all of these are things of the future. Kaito doesn't know what the future will specifically look like, and what he is more concerned about is the present.
Kaito remembered that Shikamaru was one of the first to acknowledge Naruto, and he had a good relationship with Naruto.
And right now, Kaito was really interested in Naruto, or rather, he had some ideas about the Nine Tails inside Naruto.
"What's with that look?" Nara Yaneko noticed Kaito's gaze towards Shikamaru and was a bit puzzled. "You're going to scare my little brother with that stare."
"Sorry, just lost in thought." Kaito quickly came back to his senses, then revealed a smile. "Just thinking about some interesting stuff."
"How odd." Yaneko rolled her eyes, then immediately slapped Shikamaru on the head. "Go play by yourself. Your father is so lazy, leaving me to take care of you."
"Oh." Shikamaru rubbed his head, clearly seeming a bit annoyed.
But even so, this young man only dared to be angry and not voice it. He didn't even dare to utter a word of complaint and just turned around and walked away.
Seeing this scene, Kaito found it incredibly amusing. He now wondered if Shikamaru's future insistence that women are troublesome is because Yaneko bullied him too much.
Glancing at Yaneko, Kaito decided it was better not to voice these thoughts.
Anyway, he had always wanted to ruffle Shikamaru's pineapple-like hair, and while he hadn't had the opportunity to do so himself, he felt satisfied watching Yaneko do it.
Speaking of which, Yaneko didn't have the Nara clan's pineapple hairstyle, and as far as Kaito could remember, neither did Shikamaru's mother.
Could it be that the classic pineapple hairstyle is exclusively patented to the males of the Nara clan?
"What are you thinking about now?" Yaneko, noticing Kaito's thoughtful gaze on Shikamaru's retreating back, voiced her irritation. "Why does it feel like your behavior is so weird this time we meet?"
"Weird?" Kaito came back to himself and casually shrugged. "I don't feel I'm acting weird."
"Isn't it?" Yaneko shook her head, then suddenly covered her mouth, lowering her voice to a serious whisper. "You're really bold, offing someone right inside the village. Are you crazy?"
"Please, those guys attacked me first." Kaito scanned the bustling crowd around them. Although there were a lot of people, none were close to them.
This reassured Kaito quite a bit. However, he also kept his voice low, as he didn't want their conversation to be overheard by others.
"I warned you earlier that things in the village were not calm. Do you know who did it?" Yaneko also glanced around, then started walking forward, asking in a low voice.
"I do. The Third Hokage declared them outsiders, but when they were still alive, they said they targeted me because I was in contact with Naruto."
Kaito chuckled lightly, then gave an answer that made Yaneko stunned for a moment.
"But I think they were more likely trying to force the Uchiha to make a move. I also know who those guys are, they should be from Danzo's group if nothing unexpected happened."
"It seems you know everything well. But why didn't you listen to my advice?"
Yaneko knew that Kaito was smart. Although she was taken aback by Kaito's response, she wasn't too surprised. However, her eyebrows soon furrowed again.
"Hold on, since you know so well yet stayed here, you wouldn't be planning to do something dreadful, would you?"
At this point, Yaneko's expression became much more serious.
She stopped in her tracks and stared at Kaito, then lowered her head to cover her face with her hair before continuing, "If that's the case, I think we should keep our distance. I don't want to get involved in anything that terrifying.
And I advise you to think twice as well. After all, the fact that your clan has come this far proves that they can't make it. So, take my advice."
Here, Yaneko paused, while Kaito seemed somewhat bemused.
Could he not know that the Uchiha clan's previous management was inadequate? Otherwise, he wouldn't have ousted Uchiha Fugaku from his position.
But Kaito would not speak of this matter, at least not until everything was settled. He would absolutely not reveal any information.
Watching Yaneko's retreating figure, Kaito shook his head and did not intend to follow. After all, the Uchiha matter was indeed sensitive, but to his surprise, Yaneko suddenly halted.
This made Kaito somewhat curious. So, he went ahead and asked, "What's wrong? Is there anything else?"
"Nothing much, just that someone asked me to pass on a message to you."
Yaneko turned to look at Kaito. The girl was cautious, she glanced around discreetly, making sure there was no suspicious person or even a fly nearby.
She then casually lowered her head and, without moving her lips much, spoke in a voice only she and Kaito could hear.
"Someone said that the situation within Konoha is quite strange now, and some troop movements are very secretive. It also seems that something has happened within your clan.
So, someone wants to give you a heads-up. Things aren't looking good for you. We are all people of Konoha, and any rash actions are not good for anyone. Some things should be considered in the long run."
At this point, Yaneko suddenly lifted her head and revealed a smile. She gave Kaito's shoulder a hard pat and then said loudly.
"Alright, you don't speak clearly, I have no idea what you're talking about. Are you talking about a gathering? We can discuss it later. I have things to do, so I'm leaving first."
After saying this, Yaneko walked away without looking back, and this time, she didn't stop.
Kaito stayed where he was, falling into deep thought.
