Kohaku performed exceptionally well against his Kiri opponent. His way of fighting an opponent with a katana was ingenious and his use of futon left many Suna shinobi awestruck.
The fact that his ninken was also able to utilize futon chakra was the icing on the cake as the two made a deadly combination. With the Inuzuka style taijutsu augmented by futon, they breezed through their opponents.
Meanwhile, Kiyomi was highly efficient in her matches. Using her sharingan, she put her opponent's to sleep without much effort. Her fights were anticlimactic, but it showed that she thought like a shinobi.
All in all, the examiners were highly impressed by the KKK.
Meanwhile, Minato sat in his chair as the chief guest of the event. He was pleased with the KKK. They had fone exactly what was expected of them. The Inuzuka and the Uchiha genin had shown why their clans were so reputed, especially the latter.
Kiyomi's use of sharingan had rekindled the dormant fears within the hearts of the shinobi. Fugaku Uchiha was a devil on the battlefield during the war.
Sadly, the two genin had chosen to quit. Kohaku faced Kenji in the quater finals and before the match could commence, the former chose to give up. When adked for a reason, he had simply stated, "I know when I should retreat from a battle. There's literally no way I can defeat Kenji. So, rather than wasting my chakra, I choose to quit."
Kiyomi had also given a similar reason when she was to face Kenji in the semi-finals.
"Hokage-sama, it seems your genin are very cunning. They chose notto face their teammate and gave him enough rest to conserve his chakra. Now, he's heading to the finals almost completely fresh."
Minato smiled and said to Yagura, "Isn't that how it should be? They are doing what they feel is the best course of action for a mission's success. Young Kwnji has the highest probability of winning amongst the three."
"Oh? Do you think your genin can defeat mine?"
Minato merely smiled in reply as the final was announced.
Kenji stood in the middle of the arena as his opponent made his way to the middle. Surprisingly for him, it was none other than Gozu, the one half of the Demon brothers of the mist.
'Can't believe this canon fodder is going to be my final opponent as a genin.'

'He doesn't have the claw that he used in conjugation with his brother. Instead, he has a sword. I'm going to guess that he isn't skilled at all and only managed to pass because the rest were even weaker.'
"Begin!"
Gozu immediately attacked with a 'Suiton: Mizurappa'.
Kenji didn't move and simply retaliated with a simple 'Katon: Goukyaku'. Everyone in the audience seemed to laugh at the boy's audacity of using fire against water. But, when the two jutsu collided, the sheer heat from the fire evaporated the water wave within an instant and the fire ball continued to barrel towards Gozu.
The kiri genin was shook and barely dodged the flames. He looked back at the place that was hit by the flames and saw a molten piece of ground that was sizzling. That simple jutsu was enough to terrify him.
He looked back at the nonchalant Kenji. Anger bubbled in his heart and he unsheathed his ken before attacking Kenji with a wild charge.
The Konoha genin skilfully dodged Gozu's wild swings and kicked him so hard that the Kiri genin was sent tumbling all the way to the wall of the stadium.
"You don't stand a chance against me. Give up and live to see another day."
Gozu coughed and gagged as blood spat out of his mouth. He was enraged. A Konoha genin was looking down on him! On his village! He could not accept that! He swiftly weaved through hand seals as he endured the pain and yelled, "Suiton: Suiryudan no jutsu!"
Kenji shook his head and unsheathed his tsurugi. As the water dragon sped towards him. With a flick of his wrist and a slight motion at his feet, Kenji did something that no one anticipated.
The water dragon bullet technique was a powerful B-rank technique. It was commendable for a genin to be able to pwrsom such a jutsu. But, watching the humongous dragon get split and torn apart by a single swish of a ken, it was unprecedented.
Kenji did not wait for Gozu to be able to compute what had transpired. He appeared right in front of the kneeling boy and placed the tip of his sword at his throat.
"Surrender. That was your last ditch effort to try and defeat me. You've exhaused your chakra reserves with that jutsu. Your body is trembling. There's no strength left in your legs. Give up."
Gozu coughed and glared at Kenji with hatred.
"I-I give up!" Gozu ground out.
"Winner, Mimura Kenji!!"
As the spectators cheered, Mizukage Yagura said to Minato, "Your star genin is pretty merciful."
Minato replied while clapping, "There is no need to kill the opponent in a chunin exam. Aren't you happy that your genin is alive?"
"There's no mercy in war, Hokage-sama."
Minato smirked meaningfully and asked, "We're not at war, are we?"
Yagura's eye twitched. The blonde freak was mocking him! But, he knew his limits and said nothing.
The Konoha delegation left that day with the victorious Konoha team in tow. Hayma and the KKK were jubilant. They had single handedly dominated the tournament against all of their opponents.
"So, Kenji-kun, do you want to race to the village?"
Kenji looked at Minato with disgust and asked, "Why are you so shameless? You have hiraishin! And you want to race against a cute little genin like me? Tch! I'm going to complain to Kushina-sensei that you're a bully!"
"Ah! Kenji-kun...!"
"Hmph!"
The rest could only shake their heads in defeat at the ridiculous duo. One was a man who single handedly brought and entire village to its knees. While the other was a miraculous little brat who could put any genius to shame.
"Kenji-kun, your performance in the exam was truly admirable. I'm sure your skill and strength will be giving a lot of shinobi nightmares. Do you remember my promise?"
"Of course!"
Kenji was excited. He was finally going to become a jonin!
