Chapter 89: Japan's Requiem

[Zadkiel POV]

"Good morning Zadkiel." Upon hearing her voice, Zadkiel was in joy for being reunited with her again.

He could only look at her with a giant smile. "It's nice seeing you again, Mother." He was happy being reunited with his Mother again.

Zadkiel couldn't describe how much joy he is feeling. "Is there something you want?"

Asherah smiled at Zadkiel. "Actually, I just found out that you and Cassiel are gonna go to Japan tomorrow and fight the Japanese Gods to obtain the Legendary sword of Japan Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi."

"Yes... It's frightening thinking about it... After all, Cassiel or I might be killed..." He was afraid of what was gonna happen next. Zadkiel couldn't think straight in the past few days thinking about what will happen in Japan. "Anyway... Mother, can I ask you a question?"

Asherah smiled at Zadkiel. "Sure, what is it?"

"Yesterday, the Gods had a meeting again in Heaven and the topic of their meeting is you."

Asherah let out a small smile; expecting that Zadkiel would ask him that. "What did the Gods talk about?" Asherah asked in a soft voice.

Even if she knew what Zadkiel would answer, she wanted Zadkiel to answer her directly of what the Gods planned.

"They talked about the incident involving you thousands of years ago; about the destruction of the Garden of Eden and the start of the Great God War..." By just reminding himself of what happened in the past, Zadkiel was shaking from remembering what happened during that time.

It was a bloody war that shaped what Earth is now, and it was the same war that annihilated most Gods and their respective Mythologies. And during the end of the war, humans have never interacted with the Gods ever since it ended.

"I see... What did they talk about that involves the war and the destruction of the Garden of Eden?"

"They didn't really talk about the war and the destruction, but specifically they talked more about Adam and Eve's connection to a certain human in Japan named Miyu Kishimoto and the King of Hell Haruki Hotaru..." Zadkiel kept thinking about why the King is involved in this case, which made him worried about him. "Also Mother, I know that if a human got a skill they become heroes, but why is the King of Hell Adam's next candidate to become a hero? Do you know anything about this Mother? Why the King of Hell Haruki Hotaru would turn into a hero?"

No matter how you look at it, the Gods wouldn't allow such things, even in truth Zadkiel has found kindness in the devils the Gods still hasn't. This is why this case was a bit odd.

Asherah let out a deep sigh from this question; she was neither disappointed nor angry at Zadkiel for asking her that question, but more like she's feeling guilty of what she did to Haruki. "The truth is... I'm the one who made Haruki Hotaru become a candidate for Adam's sins, I talked to him inside his dreams and showed him what happened to both Adam and Eve."

Zadkiel was shocked when he heard what Asherah said, Zadkiel couldn't say anything to Asherah when he heard that; he was undetermined what he would do next now that he knows how Haruki became Adam's new candidate to be a hero.

"It must've been surprising right? After all, I involved someone who has no actual connection to Adam and Eve and made them suffer the same sins that the two got, and now that you're acquainted with Haruki Hotaru's friends and especially his younger sister Millie Hotaru, it must be worrying for you."

"Yeah... After all, Haruki Hotaru is someone I truly respect, I heard many things about him from Millie, and just from those stories that she told me I put my trust in Haruki Hotaru to be the person who'll give both the devils and angels peace."

Asherah let out a small laugh after hearing what Zadkiel said. "What a nice dream, you have my support Zadkiel, because I also believe in the power of Haruki Hotaru." Asherah stood up from the ground and looked at the sky. "Zadkiel, promise me that you and Cassiel will survive in the battle in Japan."

Zadkiel stood up with a smile on his face and bowed. "Of course Mother, I promise that Cassiel and I will survive this battle."

Asherah smiled happily and hugged Zadkiel tightly. "Don't break your promise okay? Or else I would get angry at you." Asherah whispered to him with joy. "*Cough* I got to leave now Zadkiel, I couldn't visit Cassiel so tell her to survive the battle okay?"

"I promise..." Zadkiel answered. His vision started to blur and a bright light shone onto his eyes, when he woke up he was back in his bedroom.

"*Sigh* I'm back..." Zadkiel looked at the window and saw that it was already day. "Oh, it's already day... What?!" Seeing that the sun is already very high, Zadkiel immediately put on his uniform and ran to the kitchen. "Jophiel is gonna kill me!"

He ran as fast as he can to the kitchen and when he got there he saw Jophiel sitting on one of the tables impatiently with Cassiel who doesn't give a care about what's happening right now.

Jophiel was tapping her arm very fast from anger and her face shows how angry she is; she looked at the door to check if Zadkiel is already here in the kitchen and she saw him standing in the doorway nervously.

"Good morning Jophiel..." Zadkiel said with a nervous smile knowing what would happen to him.

Jophiel stood up and hit the table very hard that it let out a cracking sound. "Why are you late Zadkiel?! The Gods would be here any minutes now!" She shouted in anger that the entire castle heard her shout.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry... Uriel, Azrael, and I had a private talk last night, so we accidentally stayed up late..." Zadkiel was already bowing from fear, he knows that the main reason he woke up late was because of his Mother Asherah visiting him in his dream, but he couldn't blame her. "I promise not to do it again Jophiel..."

"*Sigh* You better be." Jophiel sat back down and let out a deep sigh. "Let's wait here because Lord Freyja would be the first God to come."

Hearing Jophiel says that Zadkiel became anxious about what would happen next. And now that Freyja has asked him to just call her by her name things could get messy since Jophiel is with him waiting for her to come.

He was starting to imagine what would happen if he called Freyja just by her name and Freyja using darling on him.

"Really..? That amazing..." He replied to Jophiel.

'What do I do now!? There's no way that I could call Lord Freyja by her name in front of Jophiel, and knowing Cassiel she would constantly tease me.'

Zadkiel walked to the table where Jophiel and Cassiel are sitting slowly so that he could think of a way to make an excuse for what Jophiel is gonna say.

"There you are..." Zadkiel stopped moving toward Jophiel and Cassiel when he felt that someone hugged him; he saw the person's arm enveloped around his body and her large chest on his back. "It's nice to see you again darling..." She whispers in his ear.

Knowing now who the person is, Zadkiel was shook and shaking. He looked at Jophiel who was shocked by the sight and couldn't put her food on her mouth and Cassiel was looking at him with a smug smile that says 'oh no...'.

"Is something wrong darling?" She asked him seductively.

"Uh- uhm..."

'What do I say?! An angel and a God can't do this!!! I would be dead if my Lord and the others found out about this! Well, I'm already dead right now!'

"Lo-" He stopped for a moment to finish his sentence because he remembered that he made a promise to not call her by Lord but just Freyja instead.

Right now he's trapped on what to do next since both answers would cause him trouble.

"*Sigh* Lord Freyja, you're making Archangel Zadkiel uncomfortable."

Freyja looked at the person who told her that and was disappointed to see him with the Goddess Chang'e. "Fine, I'll stop for now, because if I argue with you Tian Gong would bring me trouble." Freyja let Zadkiel go and held his hand. "Why don't you sit right next to me, darling?"

"Sure..." Zadkiel answered nervously, and before they sat at the chair Zadkiel looked at the person who helped him.

With him was the Chinese Moon Goddess Chang'e and Zadkiel didn't expect him to be here.

Both Zadkiel and Freyja already sat at the table, he was in the middle, Freyja to his left, and Cassiel to his right. "It has been a long time." He said to the person who saved him from Freyja.

The person sat next to Jophiel and on his left was Chang'e quietly looking at the surroundings. "Yes, it has been an honor to work with you in the past Archangel Zadkiel, Jophiel, and Cassiel. It feels nostalgic seeing you three again."

"I know!" Jophiel shouted in joy. "Seriously, you grew and changed a lot! I can't believe that I got to see you again Zhao Yun!"

"Yeah, you too Jophiel." Zhao Yun, a famous Chinese General that fought in the Three Kingdoms, he's also a member of a Chinese military group created by Liu Bei that is known as the Five Tiger Generals. He is one of the Heroes of Earth that the Gods acknowledge and so Tian Gong took him to Heaven to become one of his Generals.

"Anyway, what are you doing here Zhao Yun? I thought Lord Tian Gong told you to standby at Holax." Zadkiel asked curiously.

"Hmm? Didn't Lord Yahweh tell you yet? Jophiel, Lord Sun Wukong, and I would help you fight in Japan."

"Wait what?!" Zadkiel looked at Jophiel in surprise, and Jophiel smiled at him. "Why didn't you tell me about this Jophiel!"

"How would I tell you if you woke up late?"

"Makes sense..." He said in despair. "Well, at least we have more allies now."

Everyone ate their breakfast first before they set off to go to their secret base in Japan, while eating Zadkiel noticed Freyja trying to feed him with her food.

She took a spoonful of her breakfast and was trying to feed it to Zadkiel. "Open your mouth darling." She said with a smile.

Gulp. Zadkiel became nervous and ate the food slowly.

Freyja smiled happily when Zadkiel ate the food and hugged him. "Oh, I love you, darling!"

He was shaking at his current situation right now and he was raising both of his arms to not hug her because everyone might misunderstand their relationship.

Zadkiel looked at everyone to check what faces they're making right now. Chang'e was not eating her food; she was just staring at the window with no care at what's happening, Zhao Yun was giving him a smile of pity, Jophiel looked curious about their relationship and is looking at Zadkiel angrily, and Cassiel was smiling at Zadkiel.

A message came from Zadkiel and he checked to see who it is. (Someone's gonna be jealous... - Cassiel)

Upon reading this Zadkiel was confused about what Cassiel said and he messaged her back. (What do you mean? Who will get jealous?)

She messaged. (Millie.)

Zadkiel spat out what he was eating and coughed when he read the message.

"Are you okay Darling?!" Freyja asked in a panic

"*Cough* *Cough* I'm okay Freyja-" Zadkiel stopped for a moment after he noticed what he said.

He called Freyja just by her name. Everyone except for Chang'e was shocked hearing Zadkiel call her that.

Zhao Yun has a surprised look on his face and wants to do something to help Zadkiel, Jophiel stopped eating and was speechless from what she heard, and Cassiel's smile became bigger and more sadistic.

Cassiel messaged Zadkiel again. (Oh no... You're calling Lord Freyja by her name? How would Millie react to this if she found out?)

(What do you mean Millie?! Millie and I are just friends!) He messaged her quickly.

'What is she thinking?' Zadkiel thought. 'First, she misunderstood my relationship with Lord Freyja and now Millie? My luck is getting worse...'

(Okay, okay, whatever you say.)

Zadkiel looked at Cassiel's face, and just by looking at it, he knew that Cassiel doesn't believe his message.

He let out a deep sigh and thought to himself. 'I wonder what's gonna happen next in my life?'
