After obtaining the money they got some burner phones. Getting hungry, and passing a nice restaurant she tugged Cameron's hand. Megan insisted on them stopping, and her persistence was difficult to ignore. Losing a half hour to the restaurant it was time to find the dispensary.
"Are you sure it's this way?" Megan asked.
"I'm just following the manager's directions. I know it's the next road, but not sure which way to head after that." Cameron stated.
"I told you we should've got a better model." Megan scoffed at the phone.
"It's harder to track the basic ones," Cameron replied.
'The food was good, but now we're running late.' Cameron examined an alley on the other side of the road.
With no traffic crossing the roads was a simple matter. Entering the alley they noticed it wouldn't be so simple to navigate. Cameron was expecting a straight shot but still believed this to be the quicker route.
'I know I saw an alley next to it.'
"Do we really need to camp?" Megan asked.
"It's a good way to lay low," Cameron stated.
"And find monsters apparently." Megan rubbed her shoulder.
'I can't get those eyes out of my head.' Megan shuddered.
Cameron turned to address Megan's concern with the probability of it happening again. When he saw the look on her face Cameron considered another night in civilization. Recalling the experience last night played a part in his decision.
'One more night couldn't hurt.'
"We could find one off the highway, but just for tonight okay?" Cameron was turning back when Megan embraced him from behind.
"Thank you." Megan smiled.
"Weird place for a date don't you think?"
The sound of people snickering followed the mysterious voice. Walking into view were a few stalkers that have trailed them since the bank. They knew people would panic during the crisis, and retrieve as much as possible.
Just this morning alone they've made a few grand and were ready to call it a day when Cameron entered the restaurant. Watching Cameron leave as they began to drive away, and walk into an alley of all places it was a sign. To ensure it would be a private event they parked their car in a way that obscured them.
There was a total of four men, and they all appeared relatively young. Despite their age, they've already sent two people to the hospital today, and adding a few more to the list wasn't a problem. The one stepping forward brandished a pistol in his waistband.
"Let's make this quick, and you can get back to business."
"I told you it was a bad idea." Megan glanced at Cameron.
Cameron slowly reached for his wallet while approaching. Megan seemed confused for a minute since that amount of cash couldn't fit in a wallet, and was secured in her bag. He glanced back and gestured at the nearby dumpster with his eyes.
"Smart man." The robber smiled.
Cameron extended his hand to offer the wallet over as one of the others snagged it. The man opened it to find nothing, and the others heard his frustration. While the boss turned around Cameron grabbed the steel dumpster scooting it with ease.
Megan just barely took cover as the man was drawing his pistol. Adrenaline was pumping through Cameron's veins, and a familiar feeling formed in his chest. After the skinwalkers attacks, the robber seemed too slow for a normal movement. Cameron shoved his hand upward as the gun went flying, and the leader was knocked off balance.
The robber held his throbbing arm looking up in confusion. He barely perceived the motion of Cameron's body, and he was on the floor. One man searched for the gun while the other two swung at Cameron.
'I gotta move now.' Megan saw the gun out of play.
She jumped over the lid and charged the guy searching for the pistol. The man barely heard the patter of footsteps before a knee struck his ribs. He winced and turned back as Megan threw an elbow that struck his brow. The robber stepped back to avoid another hit as Megan landed a leg kick that made him buckle.
'Nothing without a weapon.' Megan threw a feint and followed it with a kick to the ribs.
Megan was always an athletic girl, and at an early age, she became infatuated with MMA. It wasn't easy to convince her uncle, but as always she was persistent. Once he was convinced it was for self-defense they sent Megan to one of the best gyms in Vegas.
After Jeffery caught her slipping she refused to let it happen again. The adversary in front of her was contained, but one of the three fighting Cameron switched targets. Cameron saw a balisong retrieved from the robber's hoody. Megan already beat the guy into a pulp and turned to see her assailant.
"Wanna act like a man you'll get treated like one!" The robber flipped open the balisong and aimed for Megan.
Cameron was fast enough to get between them as the blade plunged into his chest. The robber struck his heart and stepped back realizing he murdered someone. Cameron stayed standing, and seeing him alive the others behind him halted out of confusion. The whites of his eyes gradually changed as Cameron seized the robber by the throat.
"You know how bad that hurts? It's happened twice already and I'm getting sick of it," Cameron clenched his hand as the robber struggled to breathe.
Watching blood soak Cameron's shirt while he held their friend in the air made them tremble. The black eyes convinced them Cameron was a demon. As the robber struggled and kicked to be free Cameron had an empty look in his eyes. Megan recalled his actions from last night and quickly ran up to his side.
"That's enough!" Megan grabbed his arm.
When Cameron looked her way Megan had an uneasy feeling but refused to give up. The desperate look on Megan's face confused Cameron in his current state. This man tried to harm her, and they were the ones to attack. The situation was being handled, and no one could harm them anymore, but still, she looked worried.
Cameron dropped the robber onto the floor as he gasped for air, and held his purplish throat. His companions swarmed to his side pulling him against the wall. They appeared to be frightened animals huddled in a corner for protection. Cameron pulled the blade from his chest before cleaning it calmy and putting it away.
