“Warm” Welcome to West Por

It was a dark and dreary night, the ocean lay almost invisible due to the lack of moonlight and the beech side remain pitch black yet somewhat visible. Within minutes a young woman would make her way across the beach decking, as it creaked beneath her feet and the remaining lamps lightened up her fierce blonde hair, her glossy eyes tracked her surroundings, to her left a group of young teenagers, they were smoking and talking about basic teen stuff, "did you hear that Monica asked Jay out?" They we're not very interesting just a couple kids using the night time to sneak away to their bad habits.

She scanned her right and there were only the closed beech houses and markets where they would sell over priced jewellery made of sea shells that could snap into two. The buildings didn't much interest the girl she just kept walking until she touched the sand at the bottom of the wooden steps. The smell of left over waste from this mornings beach party and the combination of sea water was unpleasant.

Suddenly out of nowhere a police officer jumped from behind her though he was rather calm and collected, "pardon me miss, but the hotels are that way." He gestured back towards the wooden decking and gave the teens a slight glare as he disproved of their habits. The women gave a faint, nervous smile as she said,"I only wish to see the ocean one last time, it's not closed is it?". She must've been a tourist, the officer thought, any towns person could simply come to the beach anytime plus the beach was the main source of their attractiveness anyone who had lived he would know that it's open everyday. The officer puffed out his chest and gave a cautious look,"Not quite yet ma'am but I should warn you, the recent animal attacks have risen in the most recent events". He brushed his arm nervously as though even he didn't want to be out tonight. The blonde simply gave a slight grin and stated,"I'll be careful officer, I promise". She actually seemed very care free ,like the fact there were animal attacks didn't so much as bother her one slight bit. Without another word both the officer and woman turned their backs to each other and strode in opposite directions.

She glanced down the ocean and there was not a thing to be seen, no boats, no moon, not even a star in the sky but she still gazed on the beauty of the beech-side it had captivated her so much she was almost frozen but that was her weakness. She was so busy looking in awe she never suspected the mysterious figure creeping behind her. Until she heard a slight footstep.

"Officer?" She whimpered out of fear but it was not the officer that stood before her. Instead it was a dark, black haired outline of a man he had red eyes and wore a denim jacket. Before she could back up more than five steps it pounced on her, there was the feeling of a bite and the smell of blood, while the sound of draining blurred silently into the night. She couldn't scream, she couldn't move, she could only muster the ability to moan in pain and agony in her current situation.

Welcome to West Por, a town with more secrets than it can keep hidden.

Morning struck and the crowds flooded to the streets all ready to enjoy the seaside view and tan on the sandy beaches. Yet, that wasn't the only thing they were there for. A young couple stood beside an old cliche vampire cut-out, one was a girl, she had red, slick bangs and dotted freckles whilst her basic boy toy stood away from her with his phone. She posed beside the cut-out with a cheeky grin and acted like she was frightened, boy left out a laugh and simply walked down the pier together.

Next thing you knew, there I was with my mother, my pastoral eyes scanned the area and I brushed back my silver, silk like hair and let out a large, "What the heck?". "Maybe we should've visited here before we brought our 'normal' belongs to live here." In the back seats stood all our clothes, hidden in brown cardboard boxes. My mother gave me a slight glance and said,"Maybe West Por is a bit odd". She turned to me,"But we haven't seen the house yet so have high hopes honey." I pressed my fingers to my chin and thought about what had led me here. Dad had taken me when I was just a baby from West Por and my mother with him, he swore never to come back and personally I have no idea why, the town didn't seem like a slum or any type of danger it looked rather normal. Dads gone now, we had nowhere to go so we decided now was the best time to come back. Now you're probably wondering ,what made me think we should have visited before we moved in? Well mom never mentioned the town was vampire themed, it's almost awesome! Vampires are pretty cool after all.

"It doesn't scare you does it honey?" My mother asked in a nervous tone.

"Not at all mom, I'm all for this place, it's gorgeous!" I responded excitedly. "I'm just surprised dad never mentioned it..."

"Well honey I'm glad you managed to find the bright side of it, when your father passed I..."

"I know mom we were poor, we inherited a house, so this was the only place we could go, no worries" I kept on speaking,"Though I would like to know why this place is like Salem for vampires".

"Your dad never said why, I've only ever been here to meet his parents once so this place is actually quite new to me" she actually looked confused for once, mom usually knew everything (and I mean everything). She left out a large, annoyed sigh,"This traffic is dreadful, we're gonna have to park up and walk to the house from here".
