69. Dan's fate

Since Dan got into the alleyway, everything has been going wrong. Simple blackmail and revenge have turned into a nightmare.

First, he witness the imposing aura of Abraham then in front of him, Abraham tortured the third gangster while he could not move from his spot. Then, he could not comprehend how Abraham turned the gangster into a different being. When he saw Abraham reverting the transformation back into a human, he had a glimpse of hope but again, Abraham did something and the gangster was transforming.

Alas, this time, the creature in front did not look human at all. In that short amount of time, Dan saw the bloodsucker break the light and propelled itself. But instead of targeting Abraham who was the nearest, the bloodsucker was moving toward Dan.

As the Qi command was still in effect in Dan's mind, the latter could not move an inch.

In the face of the bloodsucker's relentless assault, Dan's life flashed before his eyes, a rapid succession of memories and moments that defined his existence. The images unfolded like fragments of a shattered mirror, reflecting the highs and lows of his tumultuous journey.

Visions of his childhood emerged.

Dan's tragic tale began amidst the backdrop of a war-torn land, where chaos and devastation reigned supreme. In the midst of fierce battles, he tragically lost both his parents, leaving him and his younger sister orphaned and vulnerable. With no one else to turn to, Dan shouldered the weight of responsibility, becoming the sole protector and provider for his beloved sibling.

Life was a relentless struggle as Dan navigated the treacherous landscape of a war-torn society. Desperation drove him to seek refuge within the military, hoping to find stability and security for his sister. Little did he know that this decision was not enough.

He did find security, but there was no stability. There were many people like him, having lost their family members. The military could not take care of them all. At that time, only those with the ability had a chance to live a better life. That's when his wrong path started.

Day after day, Dan found himself immersed in a world of unspeakable acts, his conscience grew heavy with guilt, but the survival of his sister remained his sole motivation.

Beneath his tough exterior, the weight of his deeds ate away at his soul, leaving him with a profound sense of emptiness. After years of struggles, he finally got the Earth ability.

In the depths of his heart, Dan yearned for redemption and a chance at salvation. He longed to break free from the chains that bound him, to provide a brighter future for his sister. The scars of his past haunted him, and the heavy burden he carried threatened to consume him entirely.

But then, something happened that was the final nail in the coffin.

While he was away on another planet, a dalki attack happened on Earth. More precisely at the settlement, his sister was living. When he returned, there was only hell waiting for him. With no more goals in his life, he continued his bad deed until today.

With the taste of mortality on his lips, Dan braced himself for the inevitable impact. His body tensed, his heart raced, and time seemed to slow.

The sharp claw of the bloodsucker was just in front of him. By reflex, Dan shut his eyes waiting for the final moment.

He kept waiting but the pain never came. He opened his eyes and instead of seeing the horror that the bloodsucker has done, Dan saw a person holding the bloodsucker by its neck.

In the short instance that Abraham was looking at the info of the bloodsucker, the latter had already launched its attack. The reason it did not choose Abraham was not that Abraham was stronger or it had a fear of Abraham, but it was simply because the bloodsucker had a consumption of human blood in its mind.

Yet sometimes, even though, someone had a headstart, it did not necessarily mean that the final goal will be achieved.

With his large ability stat, Abraham was able to capture the bloodsucker before it could attack Dan. Having lost its thinking capability, the bloodsucker was not afraid of Abraham and decided to remove the obstacle that was preventing it from drinking some human blood.

Alas, it could not even lift his arms to launch the first attack on Abraham as he has already cut off the head of the bloodsucker. Abraham did not care to even use the Qi drain as the bloodsucker did not have that much life force remaining.

Abraham had enough for the night and decided to retreat back to the apartment. Before that, Abraham had to decide what he will do with the remaining two gangsters; Dan and William.

Both of them did not commit such a crime that they deserved the same punishment as the third gangster. In fact, Abraham consider that letting them assisting all the torture he did was enough as a punishment.

From such a scene they just witness, for sure they were going to have sleepless nights.

"I'm going to let both of you go. It is up to you if you want to get revenge or not for your comrade. After all, both of you know what I'm capable of. You should also know how much I detest wrongdoing.

You are free to do whatever you think is right. But let me remind you, I still have my power inside your brain and I can shut your tiny brain whenever I want. So just be careful with your action."

With the final advice, Abraham disappeared into the shadow and immediately Dan and William found the ability to move.

Back inside the apartment, Abraham thought was completely on another subject.

Since the evolution, Abraham has just been enjoying his life with the family, and it was finally time he took some steps towards the next evolution. One of the things that he was required to do and was going to take time, was the requirement of having 10 blooded family members.

Of course, he could just choose some people at random and quickly turned them, but Abraham wanted to give these transformations to selected people that were going to benefit him and the humans in general.
