CHAPTER 6

"To hell with the stories! They are made up," Astoria let out in anger.

"The demons are more wicked. Just so you know they would turn you into their sex slave and use you till they drain all life from you."

He swallowed hard. He who had just only had his first kiss would now have his first time roughly and be used for so many times till he was discarded as a lifeless someone.

Just thinking of it, he did not think he could bear with it at all and shut his eyes.

"Anyways back to the story. Ever since before you were born, the Demon King was diagnosed with a rare demon disease which weakened him but due to feeding on several of these pure bloodlines, he managed to prolong his health," she explained.

Her eyes watched him keenly, making sure he was listening to all she said before continuing.

"However, things soon took a turn for the worst and shortly before you turned five, his health became even worse. Sensing your special blood, the demons knew if he could have you he would be healed."

"So they want me to cure him?"

"No dummy. You are to be used as a sacrifice for his life."

She reached up with her right hand while using her left for support, as she massaged her temples.

Who knew explaining things to a human could be this disturbingly tiring?

"Don't just look at me like you have seen a ghost or something."

He shook his head, trying to clear away all doubt to the end of his life and take it easy.

But no matter how he tried, the image of him being offered on a pedestal or altar with a demon having black horns, sharp teeth, dark wings and weird looking clothes, holding two funny looking knives over his chest, ready to impale straight into his heart.

GULP!

He staggered a bit before standing straight. "I am sorry, please go on."

"Are you sure you are okay? You probably need to sit down."

"No. I am fine. Continue." Saying that was one thing but actually feeling it was another.

She shook het head at him. He was a persistent dummy but that was another thing she liked about him.

"Fine. Once they capture you, you would be offered as an honorable sacrifice to the devil. Then your blood would be given to him to drink while also splattering some on the altar and probably eat your heart eyes or something. And take your limbs, devouring you piece by piece."

"Wait a minute I thought you said you would be used as a sex slave. Why now am I hearing all of these gore and..."

"So you would prefer to be a sex slave to the demons till your life force is quenched?" The look in her eyes wasn't pleasing. It was like she was accusing him of cheating when he had not even begun.

"Umm, no matter how you think about it, being a sex slave is better than been eating and torn apart."

"Dummy. It is better to die than to just... Sigh! It is useless to speak about this."

"I agree. So changing the topic, why are the vampires willing to protect me? Aren't you all just interested in my blood?"

"Huh," she was speechless. He had a point that she had failed to think about. "Yes... I mean no. Arrgh, what am I saying?" Astoria lamented as she tried her best not to look at him

She looked back up, now determined than never. "Please do have a sit. I would be direct with you."

'Weren't you already?' He asked in his mind but did not dare voice it out.

Obeying her he proceeded to have a sit on the bed and then she too came to stand in front of him with her arms crossed in front of her chest.

All the while since he left her front to sit, she lowered her head and finally when he was ready she was too.

"This is it basically. Although your blood is precious and we vampires covet it, we cannot do anything to harm you or let the demon king get his hands on you."

"Why?"

"Once he has you and revives himself, the battle between the vampires and demons would take a turn and then they would be leading with the vampires on the reviving end."

"So whoever has me, can turn the tides of the war?"

"Basically yes but we won't harm you. All we need is to ensure you remain safe till the vampire king can meet you. Then you two can form a pact where you offer him your blood in exchange for your protection."

"What! Isn't that still the same thing with the demons?"

"No and yes. Ours is a long term thing and it is not like we do not value you as a person. You get to live your life while helping us. That way we won't be weakened and the demons take over."

"I see. But what if I refuse?"

"What? Damn it why?"

"I do not want to be involved in your fights. I want a nice peaceful life."

"Are you daft? How can you have one when they know where you are? Besides are you that eager to leave me now that you know who I am?" She lowered her gaze. Her voice falling and her eyes starting to wet.

His heart clenched from her expression and blamed himself for it.

"No. You know I... Nothing's changed Astoria. I still love you but all these."

"I am sorry but I have been sent to protect you since, although the contract had not being activated but once the demon Lord gets you, not only would the vampires be weakened but you humans become a prime target. He won't rest till he takes over the human world and everyone would become enslaved against their will."

"Fine. You mentioned we have met before."

"Like I said, I have been watching you. You were attacked once before, so I had to wipe your memories for your safety and masked your scent. Looks like things did not last long.

"I see."

"Also, I was summoned this afternoon by the Vampire Lord, informing me that your location had been compromised and they had sent their top killer to get you."

"No wonder you didn't show up on time. I thought you were mad at me."

"I was but then I am a vampire, shouldn't walk in the sun and I needed an umbrella. Was going to get one when I was summoned."

"Okay. I have heard you," he turned his head to the aide. Hos mind was still pretty dazed up for things.

"What I never expected was for her to act so soon."

"So soon?" He snapped hos head back yo face her. That worried expression on his face was something he couldn't miss.

"Yes and like that. She really is determined." Astoria made her contact with him. "Her name is Sabrina, Sabrina Scot. She is ruthless and uses all manner of means to get her target."

"You are not helping me, Toria. This whole thing so far is choking me."

"Sorry. Okay for now try not to think about anything."

"How can I? My pretty girlfriend is a vampire," he smirked at her, "And I am being chased by a demon. To top it all I would be used as a sacrifice or as a blood tank or something. This is insane!"

"If it would put you at ease, forget about the contract."

"Huh?"

'After all there is no vampire king for you yo serve. You should count yourself lucky.' Astoria thought to herself.

"Hey do not space out. What did you say?" He snapped his fingers in front of her.

Although somethings had been greatly explained, he knew without a doubt that there was more. More than what she let out.

His eyes narrowed at her as he studied her expression.

"Forget about the contract thingy. Was pulling your leg," Astoria lied.

"You have got to be kidding me. I do not buy that," Drystan stated. He wasn't a fool. In this world, nothing went for nothing.

There was definitely a catch for her protection all these years. And if so, he believed there was s contract just waiting to pop out.

"After all there cannot be such a contract, if you are sacrificed. So now we focus on not getting you killed."
