"He doesn't love you. There's someone else you can love, and that's me," Charlie whispered softly as he brought his gentle face closer to Paula's.
"You just don't know the difference between mercy and love—"
"I know that," Charlie said as he stole a kiss from Paula's lips. She was hit and eventually just bowed down. She could not deny that his entire system was affected because of what Charlie did. But as she had first promised herself, she would not accept the love he offered. She is not at Charlie's level and he knows that the time will come when he will choose family and former life over him like what Luis did.
"Let's try, because I know how it will work," Charluie said then clasped their hands. Paula took a deep breath as she looked up. "We just have to work, and put that relationship aside," she joked to Charlie's frown.
"I'll just court you," he insisted.
"I won't allow you to do that."
"All right, even if you're still angry, I'll still do what I want."
