For what seemed like hours Jay used his ability to see what else he could do with it. He found that he couldn't become anything smaller than a spoon and nothing bigger than a person. Jay also discovered he had could not leave the object he was shadowing without deactivating his talent. Jay was exhausted from using his ability so much.
"Tired aren't we?"
Ace asked in a teasing tone as he was the one who had Jay train for such a long time knowing he would be tired.
"Well today I was supposed to do a job for someone, it's a relatively simple job just finding someone a pet from the apple orchard. Hey this would be a good debut job for you! How about it?"
"I'll give it a shot. Care to explain more?"
Jay said thinking,
'How hard can it be? It's just getting a pet from an orchard'
After having all the job's information Jay headed to the orchard. The orchard was not what Jay was expecting... It was more like a forest. The trees felt alive and he could have sworn he saw a pair of eyes stare at him. Jay was about to start walking back to Amara when something reached out and grabbed him dragging him deep into the forest. Whatever had grabbed him was not planning to let him go. Jay felt it's soft fur against his neck and it's nails piercing in shoulder. Jay cursed as he had forgotten he wasn't in a normal world and tried to look at the creature that had grabbed him, but started to feel woozy. He shut his eyes and started to sleep before he got to see the beings face. When Jay woke up he was laying down and facing upwards. He looked at the clouds a bit trying to remember what had happened.
'Oh yeah I was dragged into the forest and fell asleep'
Jay mumbled thoughtlessly before sitting start up to look if that beast was still near. There was nothing around except trees with burgundy fruits. Jay didn't know where he was or what brought him here and was freaking out. Jay remembered Shade and called apon it for answers.
"Where am I?"
'In the apple orchard'
"How do I get out?"
'Walk north'
"What brought me here?"
'An unknown beast'
Jay sighed and pitied himself for having such a useless assistant. He started walking north as told and asked Shade questions along the way to lessen the silence.
"Can you answer a question about the future if I ask?"
'Yes. Taking data I know about you I can give an accurate estimate'
"Oh okay."
They walked in silence again until Jay thought of another question.
"Will I get a girlfriend this year?"
'No'
"Will I ever get a girlfriend?"
'No'
Jay grumbled to himself saying that "It's not accurate..."
Jay didn't ask anymore questions on that topic and just occasionally asked if he was still going the right direction. While they were walking Jay saw a frog and decided to catch it because it didn't look that harmful. Jay chased after the frog which kept leaping whenever Jay was about to catch it before using his ability to become the frog's shadow. Jay finally caught the frog after alot of struggle and walked out of the forest minutes later with his head held high. He arrived back at Amara at noon and gave Ace the frog.
"Good job. Go take a shower you stink."
Ace said while pinching his nose. Jay thought to himself, "I don't smell that bad do I?" Jay lifted up his arm smelt himself and immediately started walking to the shower. He was covered in mud and reeked.
