"Esteemed elders," Mertin proclaimed, pausing to let the gravity of his words settle, "I bring tidings of great import. The prophecy of Evergreen, the prophecy of 'His,' has indeed been fulfilled."
Two of the elders leapt from their seats in astonishment. "How so?" they demanded in unison.
"Please, take your seats," Mertin instructed calmly.
"Allow me to elucidate. Centuries ago, my lineage was entrusted with a secret task by 'Him.' He elaborated on the prophecy in detail and enjoined us to keep it concealed from the others, and we have adhered to His command."
"…I was aware that the Heart of Verdance was not intended for the saviors, but was meant to be wielded by one of our own before the saviours arrival."
"What?!" an elder exclaimed, incredulous.
