The Suspicion

Gustav's body was born in a large furnace after Doc Rupert performed an autopsy. Jody requested that their cremation with Gustav be private, which is why no police were there. Zev and Jody stared at the intense fire now burning Gustav's body. Jody took Zev's hand. Jody cries while watching the fire, while Zev is silent. Zev and Jody remain in front of the fireplace a few hours later. Everyone left, and the two of them were left behind.

"The story about the hybrid seems true," said Jody. "Since I came here to Rivendell, many deaths have occurred. Jack is right, and I'm bad luck."

"Stop," said Zev. Jody turned to Zev. "Gustav died because he hid his identity. Gustav protected me. The outsider knew that he might be the Alpha. And now that he died without shifting and not knowing what weredragon he was. A big mess will happen the next day. They will find the Alpha, and not just one should be hurt to protect me."
