It has been a few days since Senya and Ray signed the soul pact in place of Ophelia and me. Apparently, the Machina and I both lacked sufficient soul of our own to ensure the contract had any meaning, thus the promise to not hurt each other was levied to our closest companions.
"Say," Glancing out the cafe window, Senya called out to me. Turning my head to her, I found her fiddling with a piece of fries in her mouth. "What do you think you would've been doing right now if you never got pulled into this mess?"
Presumably staring at nothing, she lowered her chin on her palm. For a spell, her question didn't register in my head, and even when it did, it took me a while to come up with an answer.
"I don't know, but to be completely honest, I'm not exactly mad with how everything turned out," a cackle of lighting lifted both of our gazes to the gloomy skies. Oozing moisture and raining light dew, the clouds were ready to shower the dusty streets anytime soon.
