A Night Of True Passion - Part 1

Rin's POV:

Come morning the hotel would be cluttered by one batch of guests after the other. There would be no time for rest, thus making this tonight our last when it came to enjoying some peace and quiet.

Despite being just a receptionist, the amount of crap I have to go through has really stressed my body and mind. I needed to seize this moment before it's gone as well. About time to head for the bathhouse, I already knew that the girls must be there by now. The only one not there yet was bound to be Ken. He arrived late almost always, and I was hoping today was no different.

Waiting by the stairs, I eventually watched him climb down. Waving at him with a smile on my face, I began climbing closer to him. With a hint of doubt, his eyes squinted, however, taking hold of his hand, I led him back up before his doubts grew any further.

"Where are you taking me? The others–"

"Let them wait for once," dragging him along, I looked back at him beaming. "I need to show you something, something that I think would wipe that grim look off of your face."

"What grim look?" He asked.

Rolling my eyes, I scoffed before laughing.

"The one you've had since almost dying to Ophelia," he was visibly upset as I brought up the topic, but with what I had in mind, I was quite certain that those few words wouldn't have mattered.

Arriving at the tallest pillar in the castle-like hotel, I opened the only window looking at the full moon glistening above the lake. Letting go of Ken's hand, I pulled my skirt up slightly before stepping into the window's frame. Before me, there was nothing to step on, and even a step forward could plunge me to certain death.

"Rin, what are you planning exactly?" Understandably concerned, Ken tried to reach out for my hand to pull me away.

However, slapping his fingers, I stared into his eyes to let him know that he could trust me. With a snap of my fingers, I turned my attention back to the scenic moon. Pulling myself up on the window's frame, I took a deep breath and stepped into the air.

"Witches and demons aren't the only ones with their perks," as my feet graced the air, a swarm of silver, luminescent butterflies formed a bridge under my feet. They fluttered their wings and glided through the air to support my weight.

Spinning around, I almost laughed at the surprise on Ken's face. Watching from the window, his eyes glared at the winged creatures beneath my feet.

"I've been wandering the forest at night from time to time, and there were plenty of night dwellers willing to serve a vampiric master for some light compensation," raising my hands like a ballerina about to begin her splendorous dance, I called out to the bats lurking around all around us.

Like a large cloud gliding through the night sky, they emerged out of the trees and formed a pair of dark wings for my shoulders.

"Come on, I wanna see the moon from much closer," Waving my hand forward, I created a bridge of fluttering silver wings strong enough to ride a carriage. It took him a moment to put trust into my words, but once stepping on the bridge himself it didn't take long for him to follow behind me with some confidence.

As we walked, the bridge behind us disappeared and a new forward path was forged by the butterflies. Arriving right above the lake, I commanded my familiars to form a pier where Ken and I could hang our feet down while admiring the view. Taking his hand, I made him sit down beside me.

"You wanted me to show the moon?" He asked, his voice as dry as always.

"Not exactly," lying down on the bridge, I stared into the skies. "Come on, just lay down and stop thinking, okay? It makes you worry too much."

Heaving a tired sigh, he did as I told him once. Thinking back on what Senya told us, it's no wonder he's been numbed to everything because of a lacking soul. I brought him here thinking the sight might bring him comfort, but perhaps that was just wishful thinking.

"You know, I was kidnapped by a countess a long time ago," since we knew his story, I decided to tell him mine. "She force-fed me and numerous others like gluttonous pigs, then drained our blood in a bath every night."

Turning my head towards Ken, I reached out to his chin and turned his gaze towards me.

"She would drink it, bathe in it, lather it up on her tits like wine. She had many young men serving her as well, and they were forced to lick our blood off of her bodies," at the time the sight felt revolting, but having turned into a vampire myself, I couldn't imagine anything more heavenly.

Taking a pause in my storytelling, I stared into his eyes to spy the same flicker of revolution I once had. But much like anything else, his eyes remained empty.

"I'm sorry, you had to go through that," he said.

"Oh, shut up," dropping the facade, I rolled over him and pressed our lips into a kiss.

Keeping my eyes peeled open as I bit his lower lips, I finally saw the flicker of emotion that I'd been trying to draw out of him. Staring at it for a moment, I realized exactly what he was lacking.

'Passion. That's what it was!' Licking the blood off his lips, my hands trailed down his chest and slipped onto his belly. 'I'm gonna be the one to reignite your passion, your lust, and every emotion that has been snuffed because of the lacking of soul!'

With my heart dead set on helping him retrieve what he'd lost, my hand slipped further down.
