Settling out

All of the dragons wailed snorting through their nostrils in pain while Lance watched helplessly on from his place on the floor of his cave as one by one they writhed and trembled. Their bodies were glowing bright with their own inner fire and the air was heavy with a thick black smoke that filled the entire cave.

His father's eyes widened in shock at what he saw and his voice was barely a whisper when he spoke.

"Lance…"

The young boy looked up at him with wide eyes, tears streaming down his face. He didn't know what to do. He had never seen anything like this before. The dragons were always so calm and collected. They never let themselves get hurt or angry. But now…

But now… they were hurting. They needed help. "Father? What do I do?" Lance asked helplessly as he scrambled forward to try and help them. The last few were still writhing but there seemed to be something wrong. Was he supposed to touch them? It would be dangerous and would make things worse for them.
