Chapter 22: The Misunderstanding (Part 2)

Leo dashed out of Rin's room, adrenaline coursing through his veins. The hallways of the academy were already beginning to fill with girls, all drawn by the blaring alarm and Saki's loud accusations. He had to move quickly.

"Over there!" a girl shouted, pointing toward him. "That's the pervert!"

He could hear the clamor of footsteps behind him, echoing through the corridor as he sprinted toward the nearest exit. Panic surged within him as he turned a corner, glancing back to see a group of girls in school uniforms hot on his trail, their expressions a mix of anger and determination.

"Leo, get back here!" Saki's voice rang out, sharp and relentless. "You're not escaping that easily!"

In his haste, Leo spotted a large window ahead. Without thinking, he leaped toward it, prepared to make a daring exit. Just as he reached the ledge, he felt a sharp tug on his shirt. One of the girls had grabbed him, pulling him back.

"Not so fast!" she yelled, but Leo managed to shake her off and dive through the window just in time.

He landed in the grass outside with a roll, quickly getting back on his feet. The fresh air hit him like a blast, invigorating him, but he knew he couldn't stop. The alarm continued to blare in the distance, and he could hear the girls shouting as they rushed toward the window.

"Get him!" another girl yelled. "He's getting away!"

Leo sprinted across the courtyard, glancing back to see the girls emerging from the building, eyes blazing with indignation. They were relentless, chasing him like a pack of wolves.

As he made his way around the corner, he spotted a row of bushes and ducked behind them, heart pounding in his chest. He had to think fast. He could hear the girls drawing closer, their voices filled with determination.

"There he is!" Saki shouted. "He's hiding behind the bushes!"

Leo cursed under his breath. There was no time to waste. He took a deep breath and bolted again, bursting from his hiding spot just as Saki reached the bushes. He could hear her growl of frustration behind him as he raced toward the far end of the courtyard.

Suddenly, a net sprang from the ground, aimed right at him! Leo dove to the side, narrowly avoiding the trap. The net landed with a loud thud, and he could hear the girls gasp behind him.

"Did you see that?" one of them exclaimed. "He almost got caught!"

"Let's trap him again!" another called, their voices rising in excitement.

Leo glanced back, heart racing as he saw several girls scramble to set up more traps. He was in a minefield of chaos, with all sorts of makeshift contraptions aimed at him.

As he dodged another net, he noticed a series of rubber bands being stretched between two trees ahead. He could barely stop himself from laughing at the absurdity of it all, but he couldn't let it distract him. He charged forward, narrowly avoiding the trap.

"Is that all you've got?" he shouted back, trying to taunt them as he ran. He needed to distract them, give himself a moment to breathe.

"Don't let him get away!" Saki yelled, determination etched across her face. "He's not getting out of this!"

Leo darted past another tree, feeling a slight tug at his leg as a rope trap activated, but he managed to free himself just in time. He was starting to feel like a character in a comedy show, with the girls acting like determined hunters and him the hapless prey.

The chase continued, and Leo quickly found himself in the midst of a chaotic pursuit. Girls shouted out commands to each other, setting up traps like it was some kind of game. A group of them quickly created a barricade made of chairs and tables, trying to block his path.

"Move!" he yelled, diving under the makeshift barrier, rolling across the ground. He could hear them behind him, frustrated and scrambling to maintain their advantage.

"Why won't he just stand still?!" one girl cried, exasperated.

"You can't catch me if you're too slow!" Leo retorted, pushing himself back to his feet. He was almost out of breath, but he couldn't let that stop him.

As he raced toward another corner of the courtyard, he spotted a large trash bin. Without thinking, he dove behind it, hoping to catch his breath for a moment. He leaned against the cool metal, heart pounding in his chest as he listened to the commotion around him.

"Where did he go?" Saki called, frustration lacing her voice. "Split up and search! We can't let him escape!"

He felt a mix of amusement and exasperation at the situation. This was not how he imagined his day going. Just then, a loud bang echoed nearby, and Leo peeked around the bin to see a girl had accidentally set off a loud alarm when she tripped over one of their own traps.

"Watch where you're going!" another girl shouted, barely holding back laughter.

"Come on, we need to catch him!" Saki insisted, determination etched on her face as she pointed in Leo's direction.

Feeling the urgency, Leo pushed himself away from the trash bin and darted toward the nearest building. He could hear the commotion fading slightly as the girls continued their chaotic search. He needed a plan to get away and fast.

"Maybe if I can find a door and lock it behind me…" he muttered to himself as he sprinted through the halls of the academy.
