The meal went on smoothly. From time to time the people were silent with their mouths open, as they witnessed a rarest and unexpected event. Max Klayne. Throughout the dinner, the young man was busy putting this or that food on Trevor's plate, forbidding Trevor to drink alcohol, or trying to do this and that for him. His eyes were completely focused on the Omega, not caring about the other people sitting at that table.
Max's parents were the happiest. Maxwell was kind of pleased, he felt like something had changed between the two young men, maybe their little talk had already borne fruit. Seeing them so natural and open was a relief to Maxime and Gina, who had been a little worried about their son after Max's phone call the other night.
The most unfortunate at this table was probably all the parents who had come only in the hope that Max might take an interest in their children. And the kids who were only there to seduce Max. The most infuriating was undoubtedly Vanessa and his mother.
Vanessa was red with anger when she saw how adorably Max looked at Trevor, while the latter did not even seem interested, but was talking to Maxwell.
At the end of the dinner, Gina sent the guest away and asked Trevor to help her. Trevor did not understand why, but could not refuse his mother-in-law's request. Reluctantly, he stood with her, saying goodbye to people whose names he did not even know.
"I know you are wondering why you are here with me ..." whispered Gina.
Trevor was surprised, "Does it show on my face?" he thought. He did not want her to misunderstand him. He just looked at her apologetically and nodded. He really wanted to know why he was not with his man now. He was sure the big baby would snap at him later.
"These people need to see you... You need to show them that you own the place next to Max, that this will be your place in a few years!" said Gina seriously. Although the relationship between Trevor and her son was still new, Gina wanted Trevor to know what to expect, which was to be Max's other half. Not that it was a hard job, she could not complain about being her husband's wife, but she came from a wealthy family so she did not see much difference from when she was the young lady of her family. Trevor was not the same, and she did not want him to be afraid afterward. She wanted him to be aware of the responsibilities that lay ahead.
Trevor, a little taken aback by what Gina had said, wavered a little. Sometimes he forgot who Max was and the responsibility his man would soon have.
He had thought about it sometimes, it was one of the reasons he was so hesitant about this relationship. Because what could he really give him? Nothing... He had nothing to offer but himself, but was that enough to complement all the things Max would give him in return?
He just looked at Gina without saying anything, what could he say? That he would do his best? That he would help Max as best he could? He did not even know if they would last that long. With all these questions in the back of his mind, all his insecurities came back in full force.
"Don't start thinking unnecessary things. Being married to a Klayne is not that stressful," she chuckled, "because your main job will be to take care of your husband... All you need is to be strong and stand firm by your husband's side. No one is asking more of you. I come from a wealthy family, but I didn't bring that much with me when I married Max's father. Their business didn't need my contribution to do well. But when I met him, he was always stressed and tired about work. And having me in his life was a big help to him because he knew he could relax and sleep without worries when he was back home," Gina added with a smile as she thought of her memories with her husband.
Trevor smiled softly as he heard Gina speak. 'Will he be able to have such a nice life too?' Were his last thoughts.
"'I hope my son can have someone he feels comfortable with. I know for a fact that he will have a lot to deal with when he takes over running the family business, so I hope you will help him with that." Concluded Gina with a bright smile.
When Trevor saw that smile, he couldn't help but smile back and nod.
Soon all the guests had left, and Trevor's hand was sore from some vigorous handshakes he had received from jealous people.
He went back to the main living room where he found Maxime and his father Maxwell drinking tea. Trevor looked around, but he didn't see Max. Maxwell and Maxime knew what the Omega was looking for and could not help smiling.
"Max is sulking in his room," Maxime was the first to say, still drinking his tea.
"You better get to him quick before he redirects his anger at us!" added Maxwell with a mocking smile.
Trevor blushed a little, knowing the old men were making fun of him. He just sighed, at least he does not have in-laws who hate him, he thought before going off in search of his pouting big baby.
Gina soon joined the father and son in the living room, looking exhausted. She loved these dinners, but they were also exhausting. She sat down next to her husband, who immediately served her tea.
"Wifey, are you all right?" Maxime could not help but ask her, she looked really tired, but she herself really wanted this dinner, he did not even know why she was so determined to have it today.
"Can't you see how tired I am?" she sighed, "I am getting too old for these kinds of events, but what can I do, it's for my baby!" Gina replied, taking her tea and enjoying the relaxing effect it had on her.
"For our son? What you bring your friends here is an advantage for that stinking brat?" It was a mystery to Maxime that there was anything wrong with that logic.
Maxwell, who had already seen through Gina's intentions, looked at his son with a sneer, thinking that he was really only smart when he talked about businesses that he really had zero EQ. Then he remembered something and had to smile.
"I say Maxime, why are you like him, can't you understand what the situation was... Remember how the dinner goes. I am sure you even play a part in your wife's play without knowing it!" Said Maxwell, shaking his head at his son.
Maxime smirked when his father said 'he' instead of his dad's name. There was a long cold war between the two as his dad was now traveling around the world alone.
"Well, he's my dad, why can't I be like him?" He smiled, thinking of his dear dad before adding, "So you were going to tell your friends and their family that Max is now taken?"
"Yeah, those vultures should know their place and stop coming to me talking about their kids like they are the best thing in the world when I know how bad and weird they really are!" Gina was tired of them; she was looking for a good reason to protect her son from them. She knew Max was not interested, but greedy people could do anything to get what they wanted. She hoped Trevor's presence could serve as a reminder to them.
"I get it; I did indeed play a good part in your show. I was indirectly saying that Max is taken now."
"I know, honey, you have played a good part in every show I have ever done," she smiled at her husband before toasting her teacup with Maxwell in understanding.
Maxime could only smile dryly at that, knowing he had just been manipulated by his wife!
"I must say that you have a really clever idea this time, Gina. These two boys have had a hard time navigating their relationship. Max is... Well, Max and Trevor are too cautious and afraid to take a step forward. I think Trevor was more relaxed and confident about his relationship by the end of that dinner. I hope it continues to go well!" Maxwell was pleased, it was not a waste of time to be here today.
Maxime and Gina were also pleased with the outcome of this dinner. They were happy that their son now had a taste of happiness.
But somehow Maxime was not satisfied, his wife and father had made fun of him, so he decided to fight back.
"But father, when is dad coming back ?" He said with a raised eyebrow, looking at his father with a beautiful smile!
"Get lost you brat!!!" roared Maxwell before getting up and leaving the two of them alone in the living room! He had an important phone call to make!
