We stared at each other for a long moment.
She looked deep in thought while I made sure my expression was a blank one. I was still wondering whether she was serious or sarcastic about Theo's feelings for me. I decided that she couldn't be serious because of one thing only.
Her son didn't like me.
The word 'like' was an inadequate description of what I felt he had for me. She had to know that. She was in the middle of something very similar if not exactly the same.
"The Alpha of the Turner's pack is asking," she said, answering my earlier question.
She actually answered me!
I quickly decided I had to be careful around this one.
I knew Theo well, his parents — no matter how bad they screwed him over — mattered to him. His entire family did. If the non-exciting bridges between his mother and me were to burn, she had to be the one to be blamed for it.
I had to deal with her as formally as possible.
