My Cheat is...a Stick!?!?!?

'Man, I know it's been my secretly biggest dream to be isekai'd, but I never wanted it to be like this...' was one of the many thoughts going through Caden's head as he cautiously stares at the huge red dragon in front of him. And let me say, that dragon does not look very happy, especially with the huge fireball in its mouth, ready to be launched at him at any time. Worst of all? The only thing he has to protect himself is a stick. A STICK! 'Welp, goodbye second life...goodbye planet whatever that holds being that kill gods...I'm going to ascend to a higher place.' The dragon launches the fireball. 'Welp, seems it's over for me.' he thought as Caden's body instinctively moved the stick to block the fireball. The fireball collides with the stick and...eh? The stick...blocked it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- With such a stick in one hand, and a powerful system in the other, join Caden's journey to becoming the great emperor!

Sudden development to...the Main Quest?

Wait what? They still recognize me as their progenitor? But all the skill relating to me being the dragon progenitor are locked...so how does it work? Isn't the system the one that's giving me the ability to use my skills? Could it be that those skills...are all actually mine?

"My lord? Are you alright?" Alfred calls out to me, disrupting my thoughts. He and Barron are still bowing in front of me, so I guess I'll have to deal with them first.

Then, an idea popped up into my head. If these dragons treat me as their king, why can't use them to force my way through my ascension quest? A grin forms on my face.

"You may raise your head." I say, acting as regal as I possibly could. "You said you would serve me, correct? Well, it just so happens that I require some help at this moment. I need you to help me kill 15 normal Demi-Gods and 1 peak Demi-God."

Delusions already start forming in my head of me riding a grand dragon to battle, being the strongest there even without any training. I almost started to drool before Alfred shattered these thoughts.

"I'm sorry my lord, but that is impossible." Alfred says with a solemn face. "While we did said it would be our honor to serve our progenitor, not much is possible for us currently."

This? AGAIN? It's not even my system this time! The universe just loves dangling fish in front of me, doesn't it?!?

Of course, I didn't say any of that as I ask a question with a slight frown. "Why?"

"My lord, you may not know this, but there is actually a mysterious and dangerous force about to attack our universe. The ancient dragons and a group of deities joined together to stop this force.

"We only learned about this force about 500 years ago, and we knew they were quite strong. That along with them having a lot of time to prepare pressured us immensely. We needed to do all we can to gain power.

"Long story short, us ancient dragons did something we should not have done to hopefully have an edge over this mysterious force. While we did succeed, we suffered a horrible fate: we were to be sealed for eternity.

"We are currently waiting for the deities to find a way to remove the seal placed on us. There is no other way but for us to wait patiently as they hopefully discover a method soon. Sadly, however, time isn't something we have. While we do not know the exact time they attack, I predict that there is barely a year before this mysterious force attacks!

"Right now, the beings you see before you are nothing but mere illusions. We cannot interact with the world too much, and we only did this to hopefully meet the new dragon lord. But instead we met you, my lord!" Alfred exclaims with excitement.

A mysterious force that wants to destroy our realm...a group of deities who want to stop this from happening...very little time left...where have I heard this before? Yes that's right, the main quest my system gave me.

But how? How did the system know all of this? Even the dragons, who have been preparing for over 500 years can't exactly predict the arrival of the beings! But somehow, my system can! What is this system, and why does it know so much?

As these thoughts flowed through my head, I face the dragons in front of me. I need to confirm if we're on the same page.

"These deities...is it possible that they have the following abilities?" I say as I proceed to list out the exact abilities of the inheritance. As I finish, the dragons in front of me seem to be at ease and seem relieved.

"Yes! While basic, those are the abilities that those deities held!" Barron suddenly exclaims, clearly excited.

"Oh thank god. I thought our lord was alone out there! While there aren't any that would attack a progenitor at their peak, many would attack them early to nip the bud before it grows.

"But if you are accompanied by them, there is no need to worry. And if you have met them, they must already be out of that planet..." Alfred also said excitedly, however he lost all that excitement as he shuddered with that last line.

"Indeed...if the key wasn't on that planet, I would've never agreed to send them there. Especially since THAT being is the one that holds it..." Barron says, the color and the prideful expression clean off his face.

"Sir, when you see them again, please ask to remove the seal as soon as possible. We don't have much time now to prepare." Alfred says, extremely seriously.

I start processing what I've just been told. A being strong enough to make even ancient dragons afraid? How fearsome! Wait...could this being be the one that killed the deities? The one that altered their memories, making them forget their goal?

This being...it holds the key to unseal the ancient dragons? Does this mean...I have no choice but to face it, don't I? I have to face off against a strong force that's had over 1000 years to prepare...it's over for the whole universe if I mess up. Without the dragons, what can I do to face them? If they had over 1000 years, they at least have an army full of beings stronger than deities!

After all, if it took me only a day to get to Avatar rank, how long would it take others to get to realms way above that? Unless my way to absorbing essence is special, I'm absolutely done if I face them alone! I have no choice but to face that being!

'Ok, calm down, talk to the dragons first.' I think to myself as I reply, still anxious over the thought of facing off against the being. "That...might be impossible."

Suddenly, Barron and Alfred's relief completely disappeared. "My lord, forgive me if this is rude, but what do you mean...it's impossible?" Alfred asked, with a hint of unease. 'It couldn't possibly be what I think, right? Our progenitor isn't on that planet, right...?'

"I mean exactly that. The deities you were relying on...they died. And the place they died, the place I'm currently at, is most likely the world you were worried about. The reason I know their skills...is because I currently hold their inheritance." I reply, trying to stay calm. However, my fear was impossible to not notice.

In union, the dragons both cry out. "WHAT?!?!?!?"

"No no, that's impossible. I mean, there's no way my lord is somehow in that planet. They most likely just died to another being! They must have told you something about the being, right my lord? Could you please relay it to us?" Alfred asks, clearly grasping at straws; he simply couldn't accept that his lord was on that planet!

After trying to remember for a bit, I reply. "I don't know. The god that gave me the inheritance said his memories were altered by the thing that attacked him."

Suddenly Barron says some words that I absolutely don't ever want to repeat; at least, if I want to have the slightest bit of respect from anyone. "Now we lost our last chance AND our progenitor! And soon we're going to lose our homes too!"

"Calm down Barron, we shouldn't count our progenitor out yet. While he may not be strong currently, he is still the dragon progenitor." Then, he turns to me. "My lord, I hate to trouble you like this, but I request that you release us from the seal placed on us.

"I know what I'm asking of you might sound impossible, but please hear me out. While you don't stand a chance at this moment, if your inheritance grows stronger alongside your powers as the Dragon Progenitor, I have faith that you will be able to survive against that beast."

Before I had the chance do just about anything, a system prompt appeared in front of me.
