Just a boy

It was another day at My Caster Academia.

"Okay, guys. At 11:00 this morning, you will be having a group hunting session in teams of five with the other Classes. In life, you never know who you're gonna end up with so you have to be able to work with different kinds of people." Kento said as he began a lesson at 9:00 in the morning.

Two hours later, the students of every class stood outside on the fields, waiting for their teachers to arrive. Although the students of Class D weren't being bullied or discriminated against by the other classes, they still weren't on very friendly terms, at least the majority of them. It was visibly seen since they had a small space between them, with Class D being on one side and Classes A, B and C on the other.

After waiting for a while, they arrived. They were Kento, Nex and two female teachers being the homeroom teachers of Class B and C. They each went to their respective class of students, telling them each the same instructions.

"You are to mix yourselves in groups of five with the other classes. You have twenty minutes to do so and there can only be at most three members from the same class in a team. Understood?"

"Understood." The Students replied, although a few of them looked displeased by this arrangement.

The Team creations were slow and steady but eventually a group was made.

"Arina, Luz, come join our team." The two heard their names coming from a familiar female voice. They turned to the source of the voice and saw Yuli waving her hand in the air.

"Where's Serena?" The two looked around for her but couldn't see her. She had already joined another team, they could see which was strange since they mostly sticked together but it was her choice.

The two met up with Yuli who was with two other people that only Arina knew. They were Iris, the girl who had healed Yuri doing their fight and also at the Krueger Base and the other was Cris, a lavendar haired boy Arina trained with a few times before at the Krueger Base.

Those who didn't know each other introduced themselves except Cris who looked starstruck. He was just staring at Arina and Iris, his sister had to nudge him with her elbow to bring him back to reality.

"Hey, Arina. I haven't seen you in a while." Cris told her and she smiled before replying.

"Me too. It's good to see you again." Cris' face was so red that smoke looked like it was leaving his ears.

"Let's get to know our Casting traits, our strengths and weaknesses so we can work together better." Yuli said and they nodded.

At the same time, Serena had seen a guy who held a rose and was nervously heading towards Yuri, Kuro and Ayato's direction.

"That's not a good idea." Serena thought to herself. One day, she had overheard Ayato telling Yuri about Kuro's past with his father and had seen Yuri's possessive reply to him. I'll strangle anyone who tries anything with him, he said.

Serena quickly rushed over to the boy who upon closer look, she had recognized him. He had blonde hair and brown eyes which accompanied with his perfect fair skin made him quite a looker. Serena remembered he was the one who had framed Arina and the others during their very first hunting trip a year ago. He looked a bit more humble and tall, even more muscular than before.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Serena told him, pointing at the flower.

Roger, confused since he didn't know who she was asked her back, "Why not? And who are you?"

"First of all, the one with black hair is very possessive of his best friend and might hurt you. Also, if he remembers who you are, the person who framed them during that hunting trip, he'll definitely hurt you. And secondly, my name is Serena and I'm best friends with one of the people you tried to frame."

Serena told him and he looked upset as he put the rose back in his Compartment bag. He remembered framing them and felt ashamed of himself, he came from a wealthy and powerful family under one of the Great Five. He gained confidence from this and after hanging out with the wrong people, he became arrogant and more of a bully.

But when he received the consequences of doing so (his arm getting cut off which was healed), he checked himself and stopped hanging out with the wrong people and tried to be nicer. And that lead to him losing most of his friends.

"I'm sorry about that." He looked at Serena and the latter thought his apology was sincere. She also kinda felt bad for him even though she didn't know what he went through but she got the idea, seeing his own classmates avoiding him.

"Hey, Vanessa, Zane. Are you guys on a team yet?" She remembered seeing them with someone from another class, looking for members so she came up to the trio with Roger accompanying her because she asked him to.

"We just need two more people." Zane replied to her.

"We'll join your team. Roger and I." Serena said, with a smile that she didn't often show.

Roger looked at her and smiled, "Thank you."

He then looked over to Yuri, Ayato and Kuro's group who had two boys from the other classes.

One of the boys had no idea why but everytime he looked at the snow haired boy with cool blue eyes and a soft demeanour, he felt butterflies in his stomach. Nervously, he walked over to him and wanted to tell him something when Yuri appeared in front of him.

"What do you want with him?" Yuri asked him in a threatening voice that tried to sound calm.

"I just wanted to ask him for.."

"That's not why you're here, now. Is it?" Yuri said, almost pulling the collar of the boy's shirt which his hands were now on. "You're only here to fill in the slot on this team, not to talk to him. If he came up to you, that would have been a different story. Don't come towards him unless its absolutely necessary!" He said, his eyes flashing orange for half a second which scared the boy who gulped and nodded his head.

Roger, seeing this sighed in relief, feeling like he had just dodged a bullet.

After the two minutes were up, the newly assembled team along with their teachers headed towards the forest area behind My Caster Academia.

Before finding any Drachs to hunt, the boy was still stealing glances at Kuro when he thought Yuri was distracted with the other member.

'How can one person be so cute?'

Ayato saw that so he told Kuro secretly what happened and his face went red from the bottom to the top.

"How many? How many people?" Kuro asked, holding on tight to the blue jacket Yuri gave him.

"I think just him and one tall blonde guy. He was gonna give you a flower." Ayato informed him.

Meanwhile, Serena caught sight of a boy from another class and she began to feel a sensation on her palms. They were sweating and they were butterflies in her stomach.

"What is this feeling? Its just a boy." Serena asked herself. "He's just a boy. Just a boy. Just a boy. Just a.."

"Are you alright, Serena?" Roger asked, interrupting her. He was worried because she was talking to herself, repeating the words, 'Just a boy'.

"Yeah. I'm fine! Why wouldn't I be?" As she said that, she tried to emphasize it by moving her arms and when she did so, wires appeared from a blue glow and tied around Vanessa, Zane and their other team mates body.

"Roger? Do something." Vanessa pleaded.

"Yeah, these things are tight." Zane added.

Roger looked at Serena's direction and saw her eyes were looking forward so he turned around, trying to see where she was looking at.

And that's when he saw it.

A boy walking forward next to Arina's team who were ahead of them and he was smiling while talking to them.

"Oh," Roger grinned after turning back to face Serena. "You're in love." Roger said and chuckled after.

"No, I'm not." Serena said with a bit of tone as her cheeks were reddened and suddenly, the wires around Vanessa and the two others disappeared.

"Yes you are. He is pretty hot."

"Don't even think about it." Serena warned him, staring Roger right in the eyes which scared the latter.

"I won't, promise. You know I already like someone else. Plus, I like the shy types. I'll get him to like me." Roger said that last part quietly but it was heard. Hearing that, Serena scoffed lightly but it didn't go past the blonde haired boy.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Nothing. Except you won't get near him unless Yuri doesn't come to school anymore." Serena told him.

Roger looked a but infuriated (immaturely) by this but he calmed himself down before he remembered something.

"And the same goes for Cris." Roger said, revealing the identity of the boy she was fonding over.

"You know his name? Well.. It doesn't matter anyway." Serena pouted.

"Shouldn't we be looking for Drachs to hunt? They won't come to us. Plus, all the other teams have already gone." The teammate not from Class D said and with that, the discussion was over.
