Ellena's POV
After a heated argument with John and Maria, Mr. August took me to the veranda. I felt a bit weak, as if I had no energy left to express my feelings. Fighting against them really drained my emotions and thoughts. It seemed pointless, but neither of them would stay quiet if left unchecked.
This isn't my kind of place, but I came because Mr. August invited me. It was awkward at first, but after trying to keep up with them, I finally felt like I was on equal footing.
This party taught me a lot about self-control—how to be an elegant woman who doesn't get easily swayed by their empty words. Fortunately, Mr. August had taught me a lot beforehand. Not just about confidence, but also how to be a smart woman who isn't easily manipulated.
