Chapter 42

"Samantha!! Please, honey, wake up!!"

I jump up, covering my eyes. The sun is blinding. I shake my head and rub my eyes. A massive headache explodes as I try to figure out what happened.

I place my hand on my chest and notice I am soaked and wet!

It was only a nightmare, I tell myself trying to calm down.

"Sammy. Baby?" A gentle voice cries next to me.

Wait! Mom?! I look up slowly.

Mom and Dad are standing next to me. They are both full of anguish and awe as they stare at me.

"How did-"

"Oh, my baby!" Daddy grabs and hugs me tightly. I look towards Mom, who is running out of the room, screaming for a nurse.

I scan the entire room. The television mounted on the wall, the private bathroom, the heart monitor, and an I.V. attached to my arm.

A hospital room?

I look down at myself. I am lying on a bed in a hospital gown. Other than that, I feel fine.

"Daddy, where am I?" I ask in confusion. Where is Ryder? Is he hurt? How did they find me?
