Chapter eight Alimony

Damian observed Sarah for a while and realized he should have tried to know her pretty well, because right now the one in front of him is a very different one! For the few times he had spent with Sarah, he thought that Sarah's thought could be read like an open book, sometimes, her thoughts were clearly written on her face, but this one here, he couldn't even figure out what she was thinking.

Damian thought for a while then said, "I agree to divorce you, but this matter has to stay under the water for a while, the public shouldn't know for now."

"The public doesn't even know we are married, and even if they knew, they wouldn't care." Sarah stated without even glancing at Damian.

"Why don't I give you an alimony?" Damian asked

"Why, because you are rich, or because you pity me.?

"No, because it's according to the law."

"But the law does not say it is a must." she retaliated. "Anyway maybe you should save it for the upcoming event, you'll be having an engagement soon, I think you should keep it because there might be a lot of losses than gains in the future."

Damian felt uneasy with Sarah's words, he felt like it had a meaning, "what do you mean?"

"I mean, no one knows about tomorrow." she stood up and looked upstairs, "I think I didn't bring a lot of stuff and I have already packed, I am leaving in about..." She raised her hands and checked the watch in her wrist, "Oh, he is already here. When you are done signing the divorce papers, call me, and tell Anna I will come to give her a present during her engagement as her former beloved desk mate." She went upstairs and then came down after five minutes then left. Damian went to his study room and went through the divorce papers again and again. After a while, he placed the papers on the table, then a file caught his attention, he opened the file and realized it was about the upcoming event that his company was holding. An auction.

But the problem was, down there it was written a total loss with big letters and signed...Damian observed closely then took the divorce papers and observed the two similar signatures, then something rang in his mind, he stood up and went to his secret safe that only he knew about and entered the pin code and it unlocked. He took out one of the letters and went to where he was sitting before then compared the three signatures. `How comes they look similar, what has Sarah got to do with the high school girl and wasn't the girl... '

He remembered he asked the mysterious girl her name, but the girl said he can call her Jane Doe, because they didn't know each other, but one day he said to Anna, "You are my Jane Doe," but Anna claimed she didn't know what he was talking about, at first he didn't take it seriously but come to think of all the failures Anna had, Damian felt fooled. Anna wasn't the girl he was looking for. But what if Anna had changed in everything?

Now the only thing he had to do was to find out the truth by himself.
