Fate Agent Eyes

A.N: Readers, please read the Author's Notes at the end of the chapter. This one is important to the future of the novel. Help this newbie author mature.

----------------------------------

Obviously his parents were greatly satisfied by his results.

The headmaster was smiling, trying to maintain his image, while his mother was literally almost glowing with glee.

The only one who didn't seem to care was Dark Moon. As soon Guihu Luixing arrived, she jumped in his arms, made herself comfortable and started napping.

They all congratulated him, and started making merry. Guihu Luixing was not against it, but he was too anxious to test the Fate Agent Eyes. So, after spending some time with his parents and their fox partners, he excused himself saying he was tired and wanted some rest.

As soon as he arrived home, Guihu Luixing locked himself in his room. He was alone with Dark Moon, but Dark Moon was his partner for years, he wasn't worried about her.

"Alright, I'm ready. System, start the Fate Agent Eyes integration!"

[Integration starting. Don't bite your tongue.]

"What?"

Before Guihu Luixing could make sense of the system's warning, a pain, unlike anything he ever felt assaulted him. It started on his eyes, but then it started spreading through his soul.

"Gh?!..."

It came so quickly he couldn't even scream. He instantly lost his voice. Dark Moon was surprised to see Guihu Luixing silently squirming in pain. When she understood he was in pain, she started panicking.

Should she call someone? But there wasn't anyone home. She would have to leave him alone. She couldn't leave him alone! What if the situation chaged and he needed her help?!

Confused and worried, Dark Moon started crying.

"Wuuuuuu, wuuuuuuuuu."

Thankfully, the pain didn't last long.

[Integration complete.]

As soon as he heard the announcement, the pain quickly started to fade, allowing Guihu Luixing to think about anything besides pain.

"Wuuuuuuuu, wuuuuuuuuuu."

The first thing he noticed was Dark Moon's cry. He immediately started soothing her.

"Dark Moon, come here. I'm fine now. I'm sorry for worrying you. It won't happen again." he said while stroking her soft fur while she desperately licked his face. She was disappointed in herself for being unable to help him, panicking and not doing anything.

Soon, Dark Moon calmed down, and Guihu Luixing believe the situation to be defused. What he didn't know was that while he was squirming in pain, all Dark Moon could think about was him, and the things her father said this morning repeating continuously on her mind.

'If only I were stronger, I could have helped him.' Thinking that she needed to grow stronger, Dark Moon steeled her resolve.

After calming Dark Moon, Guihu Luixing started looking around, trying to see the changes to his eyesight. However, besides bring able to see slightly better in the dimly lit room, he didn't notice any change.

'System, was there any problem with the integration? I don't feel much difference in my eyesight.' he communicated mentally.

[Integration was completed successfully. No issues detected. Host can't feel difference because host stl cant manipulate Qi. Qi manipulation is required to activate Fate Agent Eyes.]

'So I can't use yet, but I should be able to use it soon. Im already at level 10 of the Body Enhancing Realm. Tomorrow, I'll probably recieve a cultivation method yo breakthrough. Too bad I can't get do anything immediately.' he thought.

[That's not true, Host. While you can't use the Eyes, you were imparted all the knowledge that is pertinent to the Eye's use. System recommends the Host to read through the files.]

Guihu Luixing immediately tried recalling everything he knew abou the Fate Agent Eyes. He was surprised when he realised that what the system told him was true!

He already knew a lot of information about Fate and the eye utilisation. There were instructions on how to use, on the classification of results, the interpretation of results and the possible effects of interfering with each result.

Basically, the Fate Agent Eyes were a gift made specifically for this mission. Although there were cultivators that were specialists in foretelling and changing Fate, they were rare, because foretelling and changing Fate always carried a backlash.

Fate was not something even mighty Immortals could mess with. If they did, Fate would come back with a vengeance.

However, as Guihu Luixing was an Agent of Fate, and had the Fate Agent Eyes, he was immune to the backlash, as he was protected by Fate itself.

However, this protection only worked agains Fate backlash and Fate control. If does back decisions, he would die as the same as anyone. Fate would not protect his life in these cases.

The main function of the Fate Agent Eyes were to identify every possible Fate of a person, allowing him to decide whether to help that person or not.

[Fated] were people that had strong Fate, the ones most capable of shaping the future directly. They usually are grow amist blood and conflict, either dying tragic deaths, or surpassing all odds and becoming a powerhouse. Most of the [Fated], however, need a kickstart, and many times getting involved with them might spell one's doom.

[Pillars] were people that served to help the [Fated] grow. They could do so in the shape of loved ones, masters, friend or even enemies. Pillars could also affect Fate, though not as heavily nor directly as the [Fated].

[Regulars] were basically everyone else. They unknowingly act according to Fate, whether they want it or not.

Although very difficult and improbable, these classifications were not set into stone, one could be born as a [Regular] but through effort, treasures and luck, it is possible to be favored by Fate and even become a [Fated].

Being able to discern how everyone was classified would undoubtedly become a great help for Guihu Luixing. There wouldn't be a situation where he raised many people, but none were able to slay the Trial Beast, because none were fated.

He could also choose better how he would try to make the relationship between his"pieces". After a, there would be no use to use several [Regulars] to support a [Fated], instead of [Pillars].

*Piron*

As if waiting for a cue, as soon as he finished giving a quick once-over through the information, the system rang on his mind.

[New missions recieved. Do you wish to see them now?]

'Yes' He answered immediately.

[Mission N. 4: Breakthrough Qi Interaction Realm

Take your first step in your path to Immortality. Interacting with Qi is the most basic, but most essential ability of cultivators. Most system abilities will also require the Host to be able to interact with Qi.

Reward: Unlock Basic system features.

Penalty: Death, if you can't take even this step, there's no need to continue the test.

Time limit: 3 days.]

[Mission N. 5: Use the Fate Agent Eyes

Test your new ability by successfully locating one [Fated], one [Pillar] and five [Regulars]

Reward: Primordial Soul Mantra.

Penalty: Random Elemental Affinity decreased.

Time limit: 30 days]

The new missions looked easy, but the second new quest was very tricky. If there weren't any [Fated] in his surroundings, how could he, as a child find one?

Guihu Luixing decided to think about it later, as now he was truly tired. He went to his bed to sleep, while Dark Moon went somewhere else.

I'm sorry for the delay.

I had to write this while interacting with my friends, but I think the chapter came out well.

If you are reading this novel, I would like to hear your suggestion. Do you think I should keep the names as I have been writing, from any culture and language, or should I unify them in english/western only? Comment at the end of the chapter. I would like to keep these barriers out of my novel, but the readers are my priority. I'm taking votes until next sunday, 7/10.
