*Based on a true story where love has its dark sides but burns hotter than ever* Abandoned by her mother and orphaned at a young age, Natalie held a deep-seated mistrust for the world especially when it came to men. Her strategy for survival was simple: work hard enough to scrape by each month and rely solely on yourself! Fate had other plans in store for her. Enter Alonso Valois, a charismatic billionaire who swept into her life and showed her just how right a man can be. Despite Natalie's attempts to keep him at arm's length, Alonso who had no intention of letting her slip away shocked her by proposing just two weeks after their first encounter! Was this the "happily ever after" Natalie had dreamt of? Far from it. Walking into the Valois mansion with Alonso's dad calling all the shots felt like walking into a lion's den for Natalie. Little did she know that while she was trying her best to fit in, her in-laws were scrambling to conceal the truth about what happened to the women in the Valois family. As the past comes haunting Alonso and demanding its price, will the unwanted bride be the one who saves the Valois ship from sinking? "So soon?"

"Your phone is still turned off? Really, Alonso?"

Natalie tossed her phone onto the pillow then paced the room with her arms crossed over her chest. Not only had Alonso missed the dinner he promised to attend, but his phone had been out of service for a good three hours now.

"Is he trying to drive me out of my mind?" she muttered to herself slapping her thighs as she continued pacing, her eyes narrowed each time she followed the slow ticking clock on the wall.

Just when she thought she was about to drive herself crazy, Alonso cautiously opened the door.

"Alonso! Where have you been?" She marched over to the middle of the room the stopped, letting out all the frustration she had been experiencing for hours. "You missed dinner and your phone was turned off! I was worried sick!"

He bit his bottom lip then released it, shrugged off his jacket and loosened his tie. His gray hair was too tousled for what should have been a simple day at work.
