The Doctor-Patient Relationship Shouldn’t Be So Tense, Right?

Jiang Chen was unprecedentedly energetic today. In the mirror, he looked at himself as his dark-colored shirt and straightened collar made him look noble and elegant.

"Yes, Director Jiang!" Ming Ze immediately unlocked his phone and informed the company members about Jiang Chen's important announcement.

Jiang Chen then put on his wristwatch a few minutes later and proceeded to leave Fu Mansion.

"Um, Director Jiang, Doctor Su is currently on her way here. Why don't you wait for her to arrive so that she can take a look at your condition before you leave?"

"Since you're so free recently, why don't you take over the new project in Africa?" Jiang Chen, who was striding down the stairs, made a serious consideration.

Ming Ze shuddered and didn't dare to speak again. He was afraid of the hot weather in Africa, so he wasn't interested in going. 'I shouldn't meddle in other people's lives anymore if I want to live a full life, right?' 

Furthermore, Ming Ze had already done so much. Whether or not he accepted this opportunity was up to him. Ming Ze accepted his fate and continued to follow behind Jiang Chen.

Just as Jiang Chen and Ming Ze were about to leave, a slender figure suddenly appeared in front of them. With a bang, the slender figure bumped into Jiang Chen.

Ming Ze was dumbfounded. Without thinking, he quickly turned around and ran away, and as for Su Zhi'en, who bumped into Jiang Chen, she sighed and began to wonder what had happened.

"Good morning, Director Jiang. Are you heading to work?" Su Zhi'en hurriedly recomposed herself and tidied up her hair. She didn't feel the need to explain herself. After all, she seemed to have purposefully bumped into Jiang Chen.

Jiang Chen was livid, and his good mood was gone instantly. "Who let you in this time? You're getting bolder and bolder by the day, Su Zhi'en. Do you have a death wish?"

"It's not that I'm getting bolder, Director Jiang, nor do I have a death wish. We've already discussed how I wanted to live last night. I'm your doctor, and you are my patient. I'm just being responsible. Did you sleep well after I treated you with acupuncture?

"It's just that piercing only two acupoints won't fully cure your illness. You also need medicine. I've brought all the medicine you need with me." Su Zhi'en then wiggled the medicine bag she had brought in front of Jiang Chen.

When Jiang Chen saw the medicine bag, his expression immediately became unsightly. "There's no need for that!"

"Jiang Chen, I'll say this one last time. I'm your doctor, and you're my patient. Besides, I've already promised Jiang Wei that I'll definitely cure you." Su Zhi'en didn't give him the chance to refuse. She grabbed Jiang Chen's hand and immediately checked his pulse.

The veins on Jiang Chen's forehead throbbed violently. For a moment, he almost shoved Su Zhi'en away out of reflex. However, when he looked down at Su Zhi'en, she looked different than usual.

Her almond-shaped eyes were as clear as a lake. Under the morning sunlight, her expression revealed a particular attentiveness. It was an expression that only a doctor would have when diagnosing a patient. Jiang Chen reluctantly accepted this.

"It's just as I thought. The blockage is still severe. That's not much of a problem, however. You will feel more of a change after taking this medicine for a week." Su Zhi'en let go of Jiang Chen's hand and sternly told him the results of her diagnosis.

Jiang Chen had already calmed himself down. Hearing this, he pulled his hand back emotionlessly. His cold gaze then swept over the medicine bag in Su Zhi'en's hand. "Just give the medicine bag to the servants here."

"No, I have to extract the essence in the herbs myself. I'm afraid that the servants might ruin it. The medicine needs to be treated with utmost care." Su Zhi'en frowned and refused.

"You're afraid that my servants will ruin the herbs? Do you think that the servants that have been in the Fu Mansion for more than ten years are just for show? Do you think that I'm a three-year-old child, Su Zhi'en? Do you honestly think that I don't know what you're trying to do?"

Su Zhi'en's face was ashen as she stood there. She knew that she couldn't hide it from Jiang Chen. After all, her motive was apparent. No matter how hard she tried, Jiang Chen would always be able to see right through her.

"Fine, I'll admit it. I just wanted to use this as an excuse to see Jiang Wei. But is that too much to ask? I'm his mother. It's not against the law for me to see him, right? Honestly, why would I speak about the law to a person who is blind to the law? I'm trying to cure your illness. Can't you just take it as a small token of appreciation? A doctor-patient relationship shouldn't be so tense, right?"

Su Zhi'en then raised her head as she became misty-eyed. Her hair and delicate face were full of grievance and sadness. She couldn't control herself whenever she mentioned Jiang Wei.

Jiang Chen was stunned for a while, and at that moment, the image of Su Zhi'en slitting her wrist with a piece of broken glass on the boat the other night just to get Jiang Chen to protect his son suddenly appeared in his mind. 'Even if this woman had a thousand wrongdoings, I can't deny that she truly loves her son.'

Jiang Chen proceeded to leave without saying a word.

Meanwhile, Ming Ze, who was hiding not too far away, saw their whole interaction. When he came out of hiding and went to follow Jiang Chen, he secretly gave Su Zhi'en a thumbs up and whispered, "Well done."
