The sun was slowly setting, painting the sky in hues of red and orange.
Inside the dark office at the top floor of the Mo Corporation's head office was a serene mood. A pretty girl was quietly sitting on a couch playing with her phone, while a handsome man sat by his desk flipping through some papers.
Suddenly Mo Luhan bunched up the papers he was perusing into a neat stack and placed them on his desk and glanced at his watch. He then flicked the switch and turned off the desk lamp before he stood up and walked over to the girl on the couch.
He pulled up her hoodie and then said, "Let's go."
Lin Yun Xi nodded and stood up. Then the both of them walked to the elevator and went down to the parking space in the basement. He led her to the passenger seat and opened the door for her before he walked back around and sat in the driver's seat. The car rumbled awake and they drove out into the landscape of tall buildings which were slowly coming to life as lamps and neon signs turned on under the darkening skies.
Mo Luhan brought her to a three star Michelin restaurant that was located on the top floor of a tall building. It was known for its delicious food and quiet surroundings, which Mo Luhan thought would suit her personality.
They had just sat down and received the menu when suddenly someone asked, "Is there room for one more?"
Mo Luhan was so surprised by the question and before he had time to look up to see who was asking or even respond, a man who looked like he was in his fifties with short, neatly trimmed white beard suddenly pulled out a chair and sat down.
The man glanced at his daughter and was silently cursing the brat in his mind. Would it kill her to give him a call? He'd been worried sick for hours when she hadn't come home. Luckily he had installed a tracker app on her phone and could see where she was going.
"Excuse me, you are?" Mo Luhan asked.
"Of course I'm this brat's father. She didn't come home or give me a call so I had to track her down." The man sighed.
Mo Luhan's eyes turned round with surprise and suddenly stood up and bowed, "I'm Mo Luhan. I'm sorry, Mr. Lin, if I had known I would've reminded her."
Lin Yuan glanced skeptically at the handsome man and then back to his quiet daughter. Did this brat finally learn about a romance? When and how did this happen? Should he be happy or worried? He sighed to himself. Then he looked at Mo Luhan and thought, not too bad, not too bad at all as he scratched his chin. Then he said, "I know who you are, you little brat. Well don't just stand there and order dinner. I'm famished from all the worrying!"
Mo Luhan furrowed his brows. How in the world did he end up in this situation? From the moment he found out that this was the girl's father his heart had been beating as if he'd just been caught pilfering. He took a deep breath and then sat down again as he picked up the menu. Slowly his confidence was coming back. He had never been so flustered his whole life, he found it laughable.
He ordered a beef seeing how she liked it during lunch. Once the waiter came and put down the plates and wine he cut the beef into small bite-sized slices and then swapped his plate with Lin Yun Xi's plate. It happened so naturally he didn't even think about it.
When Lin Yuan saw this he was shocked, then he silently complained, wasn't cutting the beef his job? He unhappily glared at Mo Yuhan for a moment and then scoffed as he drowned his sorrows with a sip of wine.
Mo Luhan was completely unaware of the old man who was silently fuming beside him and had completely lost himself as he was tenderly watching the girl in front of him eat. Seeing her eat truly filled him with a sort of bliss.
As Mo Luhan only focused on Lin Yun Xi and she didn't say anything and the old man was silently worrying about his daughter finally growing up, nothing much was said during the dinner.
Once they had finished eating and before Mo Luhan had a chance to say anything, Lin Yuan spoke first. "You seem like a good kid. Bring her home safely and don't be too late." Then he left the two of them alone.
Mo Luhan didn't know what to think, but thought her father was a really interesting person. "Your father is really interesting." He commented and glanced at the girl, only to realize he found her to be really interesting too. "Do you want to go home or should we do something else?"
Lin Yun Xi pondered for a moment but couldn't think of anything besides playing the puzzle game on her phone. But she realized he probably wanted to do something together with her. Then she remembered an ice-cream bar they had passed as they drove here. So she picked up her phone and tapped on it a few times before showing it to him. "Let's go here."
Mo Luhan looked at the phone and saw the navigation app where the destination marked an ice-cream bar. "Alright." He said with a smile and pat her head. They were still inside the restaurant so they could've just ordered dessert, but perhaps this was more fun?
