A Sudden Truth

Mira and Lila spent the day together. Despite the weird looks and mumbles, Mira still thought she had made a good friend. Lila was amazed at how easily she had manipulated Mira. Lila definitely wasn't as naive when she first came to school there.

Marinette and Adrien wanted to wait and talk to Mira after school when Lila wasn't around to hear. They feared Mira would turn into another Lila.

When the bell rang and school was over for the day, Lila and Mira walked together towards the front of the school.

"Well, I'll see you tomorrow. It's been great hanging out with you!" Lila smiled.

"I totally agree! You've been so nice to me, Lila," Mira said before Lila walked away.

Chloe and Sabrina were standing not to far away. Chloe had dealt with Lila multiple times. She was bad news. Ever since Hawk Moth was defeated, Chloe realized how dumb she had acted. It was a great honor to be loaned a Miraculous. Chloe was just being selfish. She realized all her terrible behavior was doing nothing but destroying the good inside her.

"Why is the new girl with that jerk? She's ridiculous, utterly ridiculous." Chloe crossed her arms. She hadn't lost her edge, of course.

Marinette, Adrien, Nino, and Alya were talking with nervous faces. Chloe and Sabrina approached them, wondering what all the talk was about.

"What are you worried about?" Chloe asked.

"We were talking about the new girl, Mira," Adrien replied.

"So, why is she all buddy buddy with Lila?" Chloe wondered.

"She's new. She doesn't know the good from the bad just yet," Alya shrugged.

"Well, someone's got to tell her," Marinette said.

"Don't worry, I'll go get her. She's right over there," Sabrina nodded her head and walked over to Mira.

"Oh, hi," Mira said.

"Hi! I'm Sabrina. Since you're new here, I just wanted to introduce myself,"

"It's nice to meet you," Mira shook hands with Sabrina.

"My friends are over here, if you want to meet them," Sabrina turned to the direction she had just come from.

Mira recognized Marinette and Adrien immediately.

"You're friends with Marinette and Adrien?" she asked Sabrina.

"I am! Let's go talk to them." Sabrina and Mira approached the group. Mira was finally going to get to know her classmates.

Lila has not walked away from school. She knew something bad might happen. When Sabrina and Mira walked over Marinette, Lila knew Mira couldn't be trusted. Anyone who was a good friend of Marinette was an enemy of Lila.

"Hi, Mira. We're glad we can introduce you to some of our friends," Marinette said.

"I've been looking forward to this all day," Mira said.

"This is Alya and Nino," Adrien started by pointing at the two, "and this is Chloe."

"It's nice to meet you guys," Mira smiled.

"So, what's up with Lila?" Chloe narrowed her eyes.

Adrien, Marinette, Nino, and Alya looked at her in shock.

"Lila? Oh. We sat next to each other in class and became friends. She's been so nice to me," Mira explained.

"Well, she's not the best person to be around. That can be pretty-" Chloe was interrupted by Marinette.

"Chloe, just wait."

Mira was suspicious, "What are you saying about Lila?"

"Mira, she's only being nice to you so you'll side with her," Adrien said.

"She lies all the time and has tried countless times to get Marinette expelled!" Alya shook her head.

"What? That can't be true. I haven't seen her do one bad thing all day," Mira said, upset.

"You've only gone to school with her one day. We've gone to school with her for a while," Nino pointed out.

"I... I don't know. Maybe she changed, maybe she was going through a bad time. I just can't believe she would have acted like that," Mira sighed.

"You don't have to believe us," Marinette said, "Just be careful around her."

Mira thought they must be lying or something, but Nino had a point. Mira hadn't been around Lila all that much.

"I'm going to leave. I'll see you guys tomorrow." She walked to the front of the school where Pail was waiting for her.

"How was your day?" he asked, "Something kept you for a few minutes."

"I was just talking to some new friends," Mira shrugged.

Lila watched the car drive away and clenched her fists. First, Adrien falls for some idiot who is nothing more than a bad example. Now, her possible ally has been turned against her. Lila was furious for letting an easy target be hit by another arrow. Just seeing the expressions on their faces were enough to tell Lila they were talking dirty about her.

She needed to put her plan into action as soon as possible. This time, Gabriel would not waste her hard work because of others he cared about. The new Hawk Moth had more ambition and no weaknesses.
